A Sexy PNR

The Panther's Lair is a fast paced, erotic romance that plays out nicely on audio. While the plot is interesting, the relationship between Sydney and Raimond develops too quickly. Maybe because its erotic, but I've still read other erotic books that allowed for a more organic growth between the main characters. Regardless, this book is a sexy listen.

From the beginning I found this plot to be a bit too random. There wasn't very much substance in the plot. But overall it was decent.

I liked the book. It didn't have a huge plot but the end had a twist i didn't see coming.

Wonderful drama & suspense of BWwmwm conflict.

Wow.. 3/4 of this story had drama, suspense and heart break. Then......graphic details of sexual situations popped up.. I REALLY enjoy trying to figure out who & why she (lead female) will settle with. People make mistakes.. BUT when you keep making mistakes over and over again then... You have a problem/ addiction... I would have given this story 5 stars but, the sex romb seemed too much..True love is more than physical. Body sags and parts wear out then you are left with??? But, I still APPRECIATE the characters in this story. Inclusive and varied.

Very Mediocre.

Well, it wasn't the WORST vampire novel I've ever read, but...

Think: Buffy the Vampire Slayer depth meets Anne Rice earnestness.

Unfortunately, it was not well written enough to pull off the drama, and not funny enough to excuse the shallow plot.

I definitely struggled with the very stereotypical self-loathing vampire and the "Oh! What am I doing, and why am I doing it?" heroine.

I also found it odd that not a single intimate encounter was in an appropriate location. I am all for adventure, but find some privacy or at least somewhere comfortable for goodness sakes!

The pace was ok and a few parts were entertaining. All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend it, but wouldn't quite call it a painful listen either.

SURE THING FOR VAMPIRE ROMANTIC FANS

She gets bitten and loved-up - longs for more so joins a vampire hunter group - 1 year later she finds her vampire again and the whole thing happens again and again. He falls in love with her and visa versa - there's a twist to the plot then nearly all live happily ever after (come on I didn't spoil the ending - it's a Blaze book!).

Am I sorry I used a credit on this book? - no but there are better vampire books out there and I'd probably wait for the half price Audible Sale and purchase it for cash then.

Eh... If your a romantic....

I was hoping for something, a little bit more kinky than what this book is. It starts out good, but than it gets sort of mushy lovey-dovey near the end. It wasn't the kind of erotica I like to read. However, if you like romantic books, you'll probably like it.

don't waste your time with it

I struggled to finish this book. The story was weak and couldn't keep my interest. The character development left a lot to be desired and the narration wasn't that great either.

Risque Period Romance

This book was absolutely delightful! For anyone looking for a delicate romance with ocean deep volumes of tender meaningful conversation and tender lovemaking, this is NOT the book for you. Ellis has a fantastically ribald sense of humor and creates a delicious tangled web of relationships between her characters.

Like a sexually charged Jane Austin novel, Ellis managed to create a period sexual drama that kept me interested until the very end. This is not the book for the faint of heart when it comes to sexuality, be prepared for wild trysts that cross genders. Bella was a wonderful main character (I hesitate to call her a heroine), she was beautiful, naughty and shortsighted but her realistic short comings made her such an endearing and enjoyable character. Vaughan was hands down my favorite, a fantastic character. Totally devilish. Honestly I'd love to read a follow-up book to this one following more of their escapades.

Ms. Gardener, the narrator, did a brilliant job with this book, though at times it seemed she spoke too quickly. Her accent added to the atmosphere of the book and the way she portrayed Vaughan was incredible. She managed to convey all of Vaughan's wicked aloof humor. I'm definitely going to listen to this again. This book will not be for everyone but it managed to exceed my expectations in a romance novel. Thank you so much Ms. Ellis! I look forward to reading more of your books!

an enjoyable book

This is not a Georgette Heyer by any means. But the character Vaughan, my absolute favorite, reminded me of a younger Lord Alistar from These Old Shades. One thing I liked was how all the characters developed over the course of the book. M. Ellis did a nice job in the variety of conflicts facing all her characters. This book is not for the unadventurous in terms of sexuality. But it exceeded my expectations. I will definitely look for more from this author.

And the narrator, Betsy Garden, added so much to the enjoyment of this book. She gave all the different characters their own personalities, especially Vaughan. This is one that I will be listening to again. And I'm going to look for other books Ms. Garden has narrated as well. She is just so good.

Graphic but loved the book

Black Lace books are erotic fiction, there are some that will go into this thinking it's a romance with a more sex than normal. A Gentleman's Wager is an erotic tale. It relates around Lady Bella Rushdale who finds her sex exploits becoming blase after discovering the new owner of her favorite tristing spot sunbathing naked. From her perch she observes him amusing himself & decides she wants to seduce him. She finds herself attracted to the new landowner Lucerne Marlinscar.

What a romp!

I enjoyed the playful nature of the book and the narrator was spot on. While it wasn't as hard core as it could have been, it was still a bit more 'exey' than a romance novel. It was a story, human foibles come into (or is that 'out to'?) play, but it wasn't mean spirited. I doubt this book would have been nearly as enjoyable without Ms Kollander's sparkling performance.

Is there a story here?

Lots of one-on-one sex. The story line is very weak and the characters are not very believable. The only reason I was able to finish listening was because it was short. This is likely to be my last book by this author.

Clever Bobby!!!

I wasn't really sure about choosing this book until I read a review that mentioned that the main character of this book - Robert Stone (or Clever Bobby to his friends) was written with the character of Robert Goren (Law & Order Criminal Intent) in mind. Right I thought - I can put a face to Mr Stone's character and from there this book took on a life of its own.

The story centres around Borough Hall Director of Finance - Robert Stone and new employee Maria Lewis. Robert is a big man, tall and stocky, middle aged, greying at the temples and with a very dry and illicit sense of humor. He is dominent, issues very kinky challenges and enjoys taking risks; risks he enjoys even more when they involve our young Maria.

As with Suite Seventeen and In Too Deep, Portia Da Costa has written these books in the first person. They all involve the Waverley Grand, Saskia, Borough Hall and Greg the IT Geek. Reading them is like touching base with your kinky old friends.

Yes the book does involve diverse sexual activities and some language that may offend. But it is romantic, funny and does have a happily ever after.

The narration by Petra Kollander is excellent.

Caught Me!

What made the experience of listening to Entertaining Mr Stone the most enjoyable?

The narrator was very good. She kind of sounded like Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins)... which made it a little creepy at times, but made such a naughty subject sort of elegant. The story itself was great as well. I didn't want to stop listening.

Megan Hart is Amazing

I have never read or listened to romance novels in the past, but when Audible had Hart's Tempted on sale for $4.95, I gave it try. At first I was shocked at the explicitly, but none of the romance was raunchy. I found I was enthralled by the story as much as the tantalizing details.

So, when it was time for a new download, I got Dirty by Hart because the reviews were better than Broken. I found that I liked Dirty better than Tempted. Of course I had to try Broken.

Broken will take you from flawless fantasy and desire to heart wrenching despair. I had read the reviews...I thought I knew what was coming, but still I wept.

What Hart does best is tell a story that feels like it could be happening to you or a friend. She clearly defines her characters and weaves the sex into the plot in a way that is hard to imagine. It just works! And amazingly she is able to re-create this realistic combination of sex and contemporary fiction book after book.

As others have said, if you don't want sexual detail this book is not for you. If you like a good story and some spice, then you will love it.

wow!

erotic and stunning. not just chic lit romance, but a great story with some great sex scenes. this was done in a very creative, unique way. not predictable but even if it was the journey to the end is WELL worth getting there. i read romance novels for the fantasy--the guy always says the right thing, the girl always ends up with the guy dispite physical or character drawbacks. i didn't expect to be aroused one minute and near tears another. this novel was real. a must read.

good read

I am almost finished with this book and I agree with the other review this book is explict but very well written, if you have a problem with strong sexual content don't buy it. I also liked the narrators voice she doesn't grate on your ears.

A Must READ

After truly enjoying Megan Hart's "Dirty", I was not prepared for Sadie, the tragic injury that left her husband Adam paralyzed, Joe's monthly stories for Sadie and how Ms. Hart makes the listener's emotions mesh with each well-developed character. "Broken" touches so many deep emotions while enveloping you into the story. "Dirty" characters Dan & Elle are also woven into this story. No one but Megan Hart creates such vivid characters.

READ "Strangers" by Megan Hart next. You will meet up with Dan & Elle along with Jack from "Dirty" yet again. I want more!!! Can't wait for her next books.

Familiar Story-line - Few Twists

I think that this work has a pedestrian plot-line, damaged woman with trust issues given up hoping -- in comes hero. Mayberry does a good job with prose. I would have given this book three stars overall if it weren't for Zackman's strong performance. I didn't think this book rose to the level of complexity that I would like to see in this genre. I want more complexity and backstory -- Mayberry fails here. Depth is lacking.

Give this book a listen if you are at the beach. It certainly is a feel good book and if you are in the mood for a happy ending without a great deal of drama -- go for it.

Cute

This book is part of a series that have several characters in common, and it is better than most of the others. Not a remarkable story, but cute and well-developed nonetheless. Make sure you listen to "Hot for Him" as well. It was even better than this one in my opinion.

Great read--typical Desire book

Nicely assembled

This is indeed a perfectly executed romance novel with compelling characters, nice locations, relevant psychological conflicts and some pleasant scenes along the way. If you're looking for a workmanlike romance which will only surprise you with what you're expecting then you might like this one. I'm only giving it three stars because I found it too formulaic and mathmatical for my taste- you might say I admired it more than I enjoyed it.

A Quick Sexy Read

I bought the book Backdoor Pleasures after I saw it on Cleis Press as an ebook exclusive. This was a quick read on my kindle, only six short stories that pretty much get down to business. The book is all about anal erotica.

I think the cover for this book was really inspiring. This book includes short stories by: Tenille Brown, Gwen Masters, Donna George Storey, Jolene Hui, D.L. King, and Matt Conklin.

I could so relate to Anal-yzed by Donna George Storey. Anal sex isn't something she does often, she doesn't even really like but the idea turns her on. She is talking dirty about anal during sex. Her husband uses the opportunity to fulfill her fantasy.

I really like Anal Submission... Or Not by D.L. King. A Domme asks her sub if anal sex for her is submission. The answer is tricky for her sub. This book was sexy and not so run of the mill.

I really liked all the stories in this book. When I got to the final story Veronica's Ass by Matt Conklin all I could picture was the cover from this book. It is a really good fit since the book is about a man who really, really enjoys his wife's behind.

I devoured this whole book in one day. In a few short hours actually. Mostly on my lunch break at work, that was a bit naughty. There were some great stories in this book. If you are looking for a sexy quick read that will make your pulse race, check this book out.

Alex Algren knocked it outta the park with this one. "Backdoor Pleasures" is really fun and fresh -the writing is superb and the stories are crazy sexy good. I admit to being attracted to this book because of the cover and it does NOT disappoint!
