Then his carefully planned life is upended with the arrival of Ashton Armitage, son of the fifth richest man in America - and the most beautiful guy Mark has ever seen. Ash must find a wife or he'll lose his grandfather's inheritance, and he settles on Bitsy Fanderel. But secretly Ash is gay, and the guy who cleans the fireplaces sets his heart ablaze.
Further stirring the pot is the little elf of a man, Carstairs Pennymaker, who has Mark wearing his own designs and masquerading as a girl to impress the fashion investors in the hotel. When the clock strikes 12, two beautiful princesses line up for the wedding - but one isn't a woman. Will the slipper fit? Only Mr. Pennymaker knows for sure.

    Definitely a Fairy Tale
    Any additional comments?
Mark Sinders Sinterello is a housekeeper who dreams of being a fashion designer. Ashton Armitage is a closeted millionaire in search of a bride in order to satisfy the terms of his grandfathers will. The will states Ash must marry prior to his twenty-fifth birthday in order to receive his $500+ million inheritance or it all goes to charity. Ash has procrastinated because hes gay and doesnt want to marry a woman and he literally only has weeks before his birthday to meet and marry someone.
Enter Carstairs Pennymaker, a tiny elf of a man, who acts as a sort of Fairy Godfather and takes Sinders under his wing, and works diligently to steer the two men together.
This is definitely a fairy tale and it requires almost complete suspension of all disbelief. Ill be honest and say, for me, it was alright, especially the narration by Kale Williams, but the story didnt really thrill me.
Bottom line: The pacing is good, the narration better, it has some nice sexy times, and a hard won HEA.
Definitely not the classic Cinderella story
What made the experience of listening to Sinders and Ash the most enjoyable?
Mark and Ash's resolve to not only be true to themselves regardless, but to love each other without regret.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mark. I loved the way he was written with this hard exterior shell, but vulnerable, beautiful and unique underneath. The only person to ever crack the surface is Ash, and Pennymaker just a smidge, in a father figure sort of way.
What does Kale Williams bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He breaths life into the characters.
If you could rename Sinders and Ash, what would you call it?
Dear audible, can you remove this question from any further reviews I do please. I don't understand it, I don't understand why you'd want to change an Author's title.
    Any additional comments?
Definitely not your classic Cinderella story. Lain adds her own twist to the tale that gives the story an extra edge. So you have Mark/Sinder (Cinderella) who works as a Housekeeper as well as a rent boy of sorts behind the scenes. Ash/Prince Charming keeps his sexuality a secret, only being true to himself behind closed doors. He's a show pony, preparing to marry a woman he doesn't even really know, much less love, to gain his inheritance. Everything change for both men when their paths cross.

Since the death of their mother, Josten Applewhite has done what he's had to do to take care of his little brother and keep their small family together. But in an instant, a stroke of bad luck tears down what little home he's managed to build, and Jos and Isaac end up on the streets.
That's where Officer Kip Rogers finds them, and even though he knows he should let the proper authorities handle things, he cannot find it in his heart to turn them away, going so far as to invite them to stay in his home until they get back on their feet. With the help of Kip and his friends, Jos starts to rebuild his life. But experience has taught him nothing comes for free, and the generosity seems too good to be true - just like everything about Kip.
Kip's falling hard for Jos, and he likes the way Jos and Isaac make his big house feel like a home. But their arrangement can't be permanent, not with Jos set on making his own way. Then a distant relative emerges, determined to destroy Jos's family, and Kip knows Jos needs him - even if he's not ready to admit it.

    story 50/50 . narrator horrible!!!
    Any additional comments?
Kip is a cop on the Carlisle police force and, while responding to a call, finds Jos and his 4 year old brother, Isaac, huddled in a doorway in the rain. They are homeless after losing their mother and their apartment. Kip is very nice man. But the Jos character was driving me mad! I didn't feel the connection between the Kip and Jos. Its not a bad story but not the great one ether .
Narrator was so bad! The 4 years old boy was sound like an 80 years old cranky man. Jos voice was so unpleasant, it was hard to concentrate on the story
    Good
Wonderful love story. Not really very hot, but has a lot of nice moments.
The narrator did well with the characters . Once or twice there was a repeat sentence but not to bad.
    Love this series!
Another great book from Mr. Grey . Loved listening to it , narration was a little off in some places but it was good anyways.
The audio is so, so bad.
Would you be willing to try another one of Randy Fullers performances?
No, I will never get another one of his productions.
    Any additional comments?
I cannot stress how bad the audio is. Both performance wise, and production issues. It's so choppy, audio leveling, sounds like an echo sometimes, and sometimes there's one-word edits that are so jarring.
    Comfort listen
I have listened to many of AGs books and as always this one is a comfort listen that does not really impres but isnt bad either. The summery kind of says it all. No surprises, thats the storyline. The narrator could have been better - i didnt like that the kids voice was kind of nasal and irritating. Otherwise he is not bad, just mediocore.

YES!!! Another Cardeno C. 5 Star Book!
Cardeno C has become a favorite M/M author, but I also find his work frustrating because too many of his stories are just one good final rewrite away from excellence AND they don't get that rewrite. Also his work bizarrely comes & goes from Audible and isn't released in order.
HOWEVER, More than Everything is one of the Really good ones that keeps me coming back for more!
The performance is excellent, Ezekiel Robison's best one yet. Charlie/Chase is narrated just as the character is described without ever becoming a caricature. Scott & Adan have completely different voices and sound like the men the are. The women even sound female.
The story builds across a long period of time but keeps your attention for the whole journey. By the time all the strands are twisted together their relationship seems absolutely reasonable as well as incredibly sexy. I love how in his best books Cardeno makes the most unrealistic premises Completely viable!
More than Everything is not only dangerously hard to stop listening to, it is a book I will keep re"reading". Is it perfect? no. Is it worth 5 stars & a credit? YES!!!
Emotional and heavy at times, fantastic narration.
Would you listen to More than Everything again? Why?
Yes, I would. As emotional and angsty as it was at times, the story and the characters really drew me in and kept me engrossed throughout the book.
What other book might you compare More than Everything to and why?
Any other book in this series, they all have the same feel and narrator.
What does Ezekiel Robison bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He brought the characters to life, literally. I could always tell how each person was feeling by the tone he gave them.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
What's wrong with the title of the book?
    Any additional comments?

    Home series book 6
What did you love best about The One Who Saves Me?
The way that Caleb and Andrew are always there for each other regardless.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Drew with his piercings and tattoos. They are a form of battle scars in a way, marking every failed relationship or low point in his life.
What three words best describe Alexander Collinss voice?
    Emotional, light, different
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    The One Who Saves Me.
    Any additional comments?
Caleb Lakes and Andrew Thompson became best friends when they were barely teenagers, spending summers together at Andrews familys vacation home. Over the years they developed a bond based on friendship and trust. As the years go by there is one constant in each mans life, each other. They seriously re-define the term friends with benefits and are a rock for each other through jobs, moves, break-ups and family drama. And then one look at a New Years party changes just one thing, their commitment to each other.
I first listened to this audio book about two years ago, the version that was narrated by Paul Morey. While the narration for this book wasnt bad, it wasnt Paul Morey, so I had a hard time giving Andrew Collins a chance. Once I let my perception shift, I was able to enjoy Collins narration. He does a good job with changes in tone and inflections from one character to another, and he really conveyed the emotions of the characters well.
The story is told almost like reading from a journal of Drew and Calebs lives. Spanning over more than a decade, the reader is taken on a journey through summer vacations, college, emotionally absent parents, boyfriends, break-ups and much, much more. The two of them continue to live their separate lives, but they always have time for each other. I think that Drew probably realized he wanted more from his relationship with Caleb before Caleb did, and that was fed into the story through the tattoos and piercings Drew got every time another guy bit the dust, because he couldnt compare to Caleb. The passion and angst were palpable, but rarely was there awkwardness. In fact, when things did become awkward was when they finally figured out that the reason neither of them were lucky in love, was because their heart had been given away long ago.
What I enjoy about this series is that there is a connection between the books and characters, but not in a way that they must all be read or read in order. The story is sexy, emotional, occasionally intense but light-hearted when it needs to be.

    Mischief, thou art afoot.
Special Agent Ryan "Mac" McGuinness is having a rough week. Not only is he on a new diet, but he's also been tasked with keeping Henry Page - the world's most irritating witness - alive. Which is tough when Mac's a breath away from killing the Shakespeare-quoting, ethically-challenged, egg-obsessed Henry himself. Unless killing isn't really what Mac wants to do to him.
Con man Henry Page prefers to keep his distance from the law... though he wouldn't mind getting a little closer to uptight, handsome Agent McGuinness. As the sole witness to a mob hit, Henry's a valuable asset to the FBI. But he's got his own agenda, and it doesn't involve testifying.
When evidence surfaces of a mole in the FBI office, Mac and Henry are forced to go into hiding. Holed up in a fishing cabin, they're surprised to discover that their feelings run more than skin deep. But as the mob closes in, Henry has to make his escape. And Mac has to decide how far he's willing to go to keep Henry by his side.

A fun, funny, smart, and suspenseful read!
    Any additional comments?
Con man meets G-man in this fun, funny, smart, and suspenseful read!
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Nick J. Russo's narration of this mystery!
As the sole witness to a murder by a mob boss, Henry Page is now the FBI's best shot at putting the bad guy away. But it's a little tricky here because Henry isn't that good a guy himself. Henry isn't even his real name. See, Henry is a con man who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and though he calls in the murder (because hey, he's not a "bad" guy), he doesn't intend to stick around for the fall out.
Special Agent Ryan "Mac" McGuinness is the one who has to find Henry, protect him, and ultimately get him to testify, which means getting him to stick around. Which is not Henry's strong suit. This occurs with hilarious results.
The writing is sharp, smart, funny, and very engaging. The narration is spot on and fantastic with terrific timing and great character voices. My only complaint is the (what I would call a) "Quantum Leap" ending. The initial story told is finished, but the end jumps to the beginning of a new story thread before coming to a cliffhanger-type ending.
That's all right, it just makes me hungry for the next story in the series! Now I just have to wait patiently for the audio to come out. *cough, cough* GIVE IT TO ME NOW, PLEASE!
    Highly recommended!
    Witty, Light Romantic Suspense
What did you love best about The Two Gentlemen of Altona?
    Short Answer: Everything
But, to elaborate, I was taken by the characters, the banter, and the tone of the story while getting a side dish of suspense to keep things interesting.
What did you like best about this story?
Probably the characters of Mac and Henry. Such opposites and yet they appreciated each other and had great chemistry.
Have you listened to any of Nick J. Russos other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, this is my third time listening to his narration. This one ties Christmas Kitsch as my favorite.

    Publisher's Summary:
Tobias Jackson grew up in Coburn, a town where the gay population equaled exactly one: him. Add that to the fact that his dream guy was his best friend's jerky older brother, Levi Baxter, and it made hooking up virtually impossible.
Now home from college for winter break, Toby is a different person. He left Coburn for San Francisco, where he wasn't the lone gay guy and the only black kid in town. And yeah, he took advantage of what the city had to offer.
Apparently Toby isn't the only one who's changed. Levi's not acting like the self-centered guy with all the answers that Toby remembers from growing up. Oh, and Levi's realized that he's bisexual, which makes things a lot more interesting.
Heading back to college, Toby doesn't expect to meet up with Levi again, despite him being in med school not far away. A surprise visit from Levi blows that assumption out of the water. As they spend more time together, Toby sees Levi as more than just the fantasy; he's complicated, unsure, and real. But if Toby can't get out of the past and find the words he keeps locked inside himself, he'll lose his chance at Levi for good.

Liked the story very much and LOVED narrator
The story is very good. Not surprising but still moving. It kind of reminds me of Bear otter and the kid (in the general story-Line not the writting) and since that story is one of my all time favorits in gay romance, i liked this one too. There is no humor in this one though, but you get to know the characters Well and feel for Them when they are in pain and cheers for Them when they are happy. I really love the narrators voice - so pleasent to listen to and he is good at making the stories Seem Real to the listener. He makes the story better. So worth a listen if you dont Want many surprising twists in the story but just Want to listen to a sweet story told by a great voice.
Brilliant, the story was touching and felt real
Would you listen to A Hundred Thousand Words again? Why?
    Yes!
I was really touched by the story and how the characters were trying to figure out their lives. But at the same time I was constantly a bit worried about possible sudden overdramatic Hollywood moments occuring.
Now that I know what happens I want to go back and really enjoy the way the story unfolds without the worry of what may come.
What did you like best about this story?
How it felt real and focused on the feelings. I love that the main story happened inside and between the main characters. Its not that they were not affected by external forces, but it never felt forced or like the rest of the world was just there to push them along.
I'm so tired of how I feel many romance stories does not trust the relationship and personal development to be the center of the story. I hate half assed crime plots, or family and friends giving ultimatums or other overly simple scenarios.
    Any additional comments?
This was the perfect book for me at the perfect time.
I was really moved and fell in love with all the characters.

    Much as you would expect
The writing is much what you would expect from a book in this wonderful series. I enjoyed each of the stories, indeed wanted more. There are parts of the book which are unsuited to audio, so it is not quite as long as it seems. I sometimes had trouble remembering who was who, and how the main story had gone, but usually I was able to remember by the end of the short story.
Kevin R Free, whom I used to think was one of the best narrators, is getting on my nerves by this point. His range of accents and other vocal characteristics is actually quite limited, and as these stories focus on the characters who are usually tangential to the story, he is not using his best voices. His women's women's voices are particularly bad.
That being said, if you love the series as I do, this is a must-have to add to the collection.
And now the rest of the story...
Most authors can tell a good story while leaving out most of the details that link the characters and situations for a short period in time, often leaving many bits of information out of the book. This is not one of those authors. This is not one of those books.
Famous science fiction authors create their imaginary worlds and universes where the reader seldom has a basis to judge the imagined space in time. Jay Bell is not one of those authors. He develops characters and situations in recent to current time with all the relationships and scenarios as vivid as the real world on which they are based. This book ties together and clarifies much of the less important but not trivial details that link it all together.
But still the story continues to expand as the next book/audible book arrived just as I started this one. I hope I can find out the importance of a small Missouri college town to the author that made many of the characters what they have become, something like you and me.
    The best book series EVER!
I think that this book series deserves some kind of an award for.. being awesome! I loved the book and the forst two chapters made me cry so hard that I couldn't go to school the next morning. Not kidding. Maybe I'm just an emotional person but the books are actually amazing. I found the book something like summer by accident and was skeptical about reading it not thinking it was good. Little did I know that I'd be reading the whole series in a year and that the books would change my life.

    Publisher's Summary:
Everyone in Mangrove, Florida, knows Fire Chief Essien Dodd is a saint. He took care of his ex-wife until she died, is raising his teenage daughter alone, and is the kind of man who pulls kittens from trees. All in all, the man's a catch. But Roark Hammond has sworn off getting involved with a man who's been hurt before because he can't guarantee he won't hurt his prospective love again. If only he could get Essien out of his mind long enough to focus on anyone, or anything, else.
Strong emotions are in play. Essien is lonely but determined to focus on Ivy; Ivy wants her father to have a new life so much that, to his horror, she's trying to find him a man; and Roark is so scared of the present and past, he won't allow himself to commit. To have any chance of sleeping 'til sunrise and greeting each new day together, Essien and Roark will have to rethink how they're living their lives and focus on what's most important.
    Members Reviews:
Easy flow and a good, quick listen.
    Any additional comments?
Fire Chief Essien Dodd moved to Mangrove, Florida with his daughter, Ivy, from Detroit (with a short sting in Miami in between) in order to put big cities and a too-rapid pace of life behind him for a while. Essien has dealt with a lot and is looking for some peace. After moving to Mangrove he sees, and falls for, Pediatrician Roark Hammond.
Roark has deep feelings for Essien, but doesn't want to act on them for a very good reason. I really, really don't want to give anything away here. I know - mind boggling for me the Queen of the Spoilers to say that...but, nope, no spoilers from me this time. I don't want to ruin it.
This short novella is a classic kind of Calmes with great dialogue, delicious heat and sexy times, and a breakneck romantic pace. Sure, there are some points I could niggle over, but I don't wanna. It all just works for me. I felt like it flowed really smoothly and I enjoyed the whole thing.
And not that it's a surprise, but once again, Greg Tremblay does a wonderful job with the narration.
    Recommended!
What can I say? Calmes is my crack and I'm willingly addicted.
Greg and Mary - winning combo!

    Publisher's Summary:
Born into a blue-collar family, John Wells beat the odds and came out a winner. As chief of staff to Patrick Donovan, a US senator and aspiring presidential candidate, he enjoys all the power and privilege of a DC insider. But while riding high on a wave of success, he's blindsided by a series of betrayals from the people he trusts the most. In the space of a single day, John's perfect life unexpectedly unravels when his career falters and his marriage implodes. Following a final, devastating blow, John assumes a new identity as "Peter" and flees to Provincetown, where a tight-knit community of eclectic characters slowly transforms him.
Peter finds himself drawn to Danny Cavanaugh, an enigmatic carpenter who is struggling to come to terms with his own troubled past. As they work together to renovate a local landmark, the two men forge an unlikely friendship that blossoms into love and becomes the foundation for a new life they hope to build together. But when a reversal of fortune pulls John back to DC, the treacherous world of politics he thought he'd left behind threatens to destroy his chance at true happiness.
    Members Reviews:
    Outstanding
I have checked three times, and it seems this book really is published by Dreamspinner. It's hard to believe because it so well written, so mature and intelligent, and features actual gay men.
It's basically story of a grief-stricken man, filled with regret, having a mid-life crisis and reinventing his life. He finds a simpler and more authentic life in a small community, as well as finding new love (eventually).
This is literary fiction featuring gay characters, rather than romance genre writing. If you like a saintly suburban housewife in the guise of a gay man who dreams of little beyond marriage and children, this book isn't for you. If you like realistically flawed and believably gay and male characters, written intelligently and convincingly, then it is.
There is little more to say, without giving more away, than this is an excellent book with excellent narration (apart from a woeful attempt at Scottish accent). I hope to hear many more from this author soon and pre-order anything that he got published.
I just didn't connect with the story
    Any additional comments?
First, this is tagged in some places as m/m romance. It is not. It's a contemporary fiction novel. Second, my review is entirely subjective based on my emotional response to the story. Obviously, other reader reactions will, and have, vary.
John Peter Wells is the out and proud chief of staff for Senator Patrick Donovan. John enjoys his career success, but his relationship with his boyfriend, David, is a casualty of his career. He and David split, and further shock comes when his career and the life he's built is also ripped away from him within a single day.
Hurting and reeling from everything that happens, John leaves DC and winds up in Provincetown where he transforms himself from career-centric and focused "John" into "Peter" who takes each day as it comes. He lives in the quiet town dealing with his pain and grief, meeting and getting to know the other inhabitants of the town. Peter ends up falling for local carpenter, Danny Cavanaugh, who is dealing with his own loss and past. For six months Peter lives and learns to love, until John's unexpectedly called back to DC to the world of politics he left behind.
The narration is good. Nick J.
