I guessed EVERYTHING that happened in this book! It was very entertaining, and this is one of the only books in this series that I feel I am in the story. I solved the mystery before the Aldons did! I am so glad I found this book and I thank this wonderful author and this superb reader for the performance. However, since I own many, many books in this series, I have started to notice a pattern! First, find out there's a mystery. Then, suspect everyone of the location. Clues, then rule out suspects. Wait, a good person actually did it! Next time try to stray from the pattern. However, you should be very proud!

A Fitting Conclusion

I received my book two days ago and I have already finished it. It was a satisfying conclusion to the mystery adventure the children faced. I especially enjoyed the characterization of the three principal children, who were presented realistically. The protagonist, Benjamin Pratt, had to adjust to his parents' separation while carrying (at first) the full burden of saving his school from demolition, But, along the way, he learned to listen inwardly before acting, to trust others' good ideas, to squelch desires to be lauded for his efforts and instead to be satisfied with his growing sense of conscious worth. He learned to develop a team and respect the individual skills of each member, gaining less focus on self and more on the welfare of others. The children proved to be formidable adversaries to those that believed that wealth and power always win over honesty, goodness, and persistence intelligently and humbly applied. I'm saving the entire series of books to give to my grandson, when he gets to 4th grade.

Excellent!

This is the fifth and final in a series of five books written by talented author Andrew Clements. It is a fitting ending to the Benjamin Pratt and the Keepers of the School series. Mr. Clements is truly the master of the school story. This installment is just as exciting and suspenseful as the previous four. I strongly recommend this book, as well as the others, to anyone who enjoys a well thought-out and developed plot. They are all a must-read for upper level elementary and middle school students.

Keepers of the School

Andrew Clements "Keepers of the School " series has been one of the best motivators for my fourth-seventh graders. Children who do not like to read are into these books. They have been waiting for "We Hold These Truths" since the Spring. We were to start this book after Christmas break, but when the books came out of the box they grabbed them like candy.

Wonderful last book in a series

Last book in a series of an intriguing and page-turning story. Clements is truly a wonderful writer who focuses on middle-school aged children but I as an adult relish his use of language, intrigue, and tension-resolution.

What a great ending!!!

Recommend this whole series to all kids young and old who are looking for a story full of adventure and discovery. I've read the whole series with my elementary aged son, and we both couldn't put the books down. We enjoyed reading them together. Awesome series!

Mythos auf Naxos

After first reading "Heroes, Gods and Monsters of the Greek Myths" by Bernard Evslin, "Tales from the Greek Legends" by Edward Ferrie is an excellent follow up introduction to the Greek myths for juveniles. Even adults with a scant knowledge of classical antiquity will find it beneficial. Anyone desiring to read literature from the classical world will by necessity need to know these stories in order to gain a fuller understanding of their content. This is a "cleaned up" version for older children and therefore omits reference to the castration of Oranos for example. Adults desiring a more complete and sophisticated introduction to the Greek myths will find Robert Graves' "The Greek Myths" and Stephen P. Kershaw's "A Brief Guide to the Greek Myths" excellent choices.

I would heartily recommend purchasing the companion audiobook which accompanies this. Naxos is one of the best producers of audiobooks, and their choice of narrators is top notch. It is quite ironic that "Naxos" is also the name of a Greek island heavily steeped in Greek mythology. You can find its appearance in the story about Theseus and the Minotaur. Carrying the irony even further, Richard Strauss wrote an opera still in the repertory entitled "Ariadne auf Naxos."

A great version of an old story

A wonderful audiobook that truly brought a sense of epic and grandeur to this classic story. The music gave it the feel a movie and the price simply could not be beat! Wonderful. Simply wonderful.

Sparks interest

My children have been listening to this collection since they were very young. The stories are often gory, but they're also full of wonder. The introduction to the Greek gods sets the stage and helps make sense of some of the stories to follow. There is an amazing amount of detail in the tales of Perseus, Heracles, Theseus, and Jason. My step-son has just been introduced to this collection and says he wants more Greek Myths for Christmas. That might be the best review of all.

Great!

I read this book when I was in middle school and am now reading to my younger children, despite being in 3rd and 4th grade they are able to keep up with the more advanced phrases and words that are unfamiliar and used frequently in this book.

It was a great book and I love reading it to them.

My kids loved this sequel, as much as the first book !

This book is a very plausible and enjoyable sequel, to Susan Fletcherâs original dragon adventure âDragonâs Milkâ. I used that original book as a bedtime reader for my children several months ago, and they loved it. So after a number of requests to see if there were any follow-up stories, we purchased âSign of the Doveâ. Now at this point, Iâd like to mention that while this book is quite capable of standing on its own merit, there are numerous references to people, events, and concepts introduced during the first story, that make understanding this second one much easier. So if youâre thinking of buying this book, I strongly recommend getting the first one to go with it.

Our story takes place about six years after events in the original book. Kaeldra, the original heroine has long since married, started a family, and moved far from home. Yet her familyâs troubles with dragons are far from over. When an exiled Queen decides to build an unstoppable army by killing the last of the Dragons and cutting out their magical hearts; Lyf, Kaeldra's younger sister, must flee because of her ability to communicate with birds telepathically. An Excellent Read

I've been a Sci-Fi fan ever since my sister gave me a copy of "Foundation" when I was about eleven. This is a collection of science fiction/fantasy stories that is truly top notch. Several of them are quite funny. There's the alien invasion that is foiled by "the rules," for example. Some are pretty traditional, such as the one with the surprise twist at the end that involves a Scout and things falling from the sky. The book ends with a tribute to one of the greats, Ray Bradbury. The story, Frost and Fire, is one that I read as teenager and have thought of from time to time ever since. I'd forgotten it was Bradbury, in fact. It is such a good story that I honestly can't say that the others are as good. But that's like saying that they're not as good as "Macbeth." True, but it doesn't mean anything. These stories are excellent, speak right to the kid in me, and I'd recommend them to anyone who likes, or wants to try out, Science Fiction and Fantasy.

Would be good for a book club

Got this book for my 7 year old son thinking he would devour it. He found it just ok and read it in bits and pieces of the last year, but always when he didn't have anything else to read. I think the stories and writing were good, just my son prefers a longer story vs short stories. Percy Jackson, Cat Warriors etc all keep him enthralled, but are longer and more coherent. Stories were definitely great for my son and these series would be great for a boys book club!

Guys read other worlds summary

I gave this a five star rating because I really loved this book, this book had amazing stories in it and I must thank all the authors for that. But the story i really liked was the one made by Rick Riodran (Percy Jackson and the singer of Apollo),

He is very much into computer games, but doesn't read as much as I think he should! This book had a compilation of short stories by good authors - just the right length for him to read at one sitting or in bed at night.

Brilliant as usual

Being a great Skulduggery Pleasant fan, I am absolutely addicted to this series and I am agog with anticipation for each subsequent instalment. The "Last Stand of Dead Men" does not disappoint. With his usual ruthlessness, Derek Landy clearly does not appreciate too much attachment to any given character and the book is full of twists and turns. Can't wait for the next one!
