MYSTERY

This book was really good and I liked it a lot. I like how they used colors for nicknames. It was kind of strange that Sam didn't want to talk about the past. I really think it's silly that Rose loves pink because most grownups do not like pink. I recommend this book to pretty much anyone who likes to read.

My son has loves these books & he's not a reader so anything that gets him typ read is 5 stars for me!!!

Heavy but handled well..

My 11 year old son and I read these novels togther. Without giving away any plot spoilers, let's just say Daniel goes up against his most challenging foe yet and along the way confronts similarly formitable emotional challenges as well. The plot, as religiously charged as it is at times, was handled with care and the story well told. One of the best yet. Don't know how this one's going to be topped....? we can't wait for the next installment!

Different

Daniel X is a departure from Patterson's usual novels about crime, murder & mayhem. Daniel X is an other than normal super teen-age alien, placed on earth to protect the planet. Don't know if I would have bought it if I'd known the subject area, but since I did, I can recommend it as a very pleasant read. It's also similar to what other authors are also doing - departing their normal realms to show their versatality - i.e. Grisham, Baldacci, etc.

Wicked cool book ( books) for Boys!

My nine year old Great Grandson is sure to like this book. I have sent Him all Roscoe Riley books, a few at a time when they became

available, and He loves them. I have more George Brown books for Him when I see Him in September. In all My years on Earth, I never

7 year old loving the series.

My 7 year old grandson started reading the series, I had bought him the first 6, and he was on book 5 four days after he received them. I ordered the next 6 for him. He loves them.

Funny book for boys and good read!

I ordered this as a bundle with George Brown Class Clown Wet and Wild and another George Brown book. The book is age appropriate and a good read with a few illustrations. My son finds it hilarious :)

Powerful writing

Happenings in a small Vermont town in 1924 from the perspective of a kaleidoscope of very human characters. Could be incredible as a staged reading.

Subtle

I was expecting more of a punch from this story, especially considering some of Hesse's other works. I enjoyed the New England, rural setting and different characters' perspectives, but was waiting for more of an impact from the action. This would be a good text to use for learning more about points-of-view, inferring, and characters, and also to show racial tension in places other than the Civil-War South.

Where does The Case of the Gypsy Goodbye rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This ranks in my 2nd tier of favorites. It was really good (much better than a lot of others), but not my favorite.

Who was your favorite character and why?

As always, Enola is my favorite character. I enjoy listening to her growth, her humor and her interactions with Sherlock.

Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgrens other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. Katherine is always an excellent narrator. Her accents and voices are always enjoyable, and this is comparable to her others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it's short enough to listen to all at once, but even if it had been longer, I'd still want to hear it in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this entire series. Although I've heard that this is the last book, I'm hoping that Nancy Springer will write more. I would love to watch Enola grow up and come into her own.

Another Great Enola Holmes Mystery!

I really like the character Enola Holmes. She is spunky and just as good a detective as her much older brother Sherlock. The narrator of this series is superb!

Her learning her mother was dead and then being with her brothers.

This is a great series.

I hope it is not goodbye

This was either a wonderful conclusion to the series or a really good book in I hope a continually ongoing series. Enola is growing up and in fact one thinks perhaps her two brilliant brothers may be as well.

Set in Victorian England all of these stories have been educational as well as entertaining, telling a bit about the harsh realities of life in that time. The social injustice and the extremes of poverty suffered by so many of that era.

Layered over it all is a cracking good tale with lots of danger and suspense. The narration is perfect for the character and it all blends so well it carries you along, until suddenly it is sadly over until the next book comes out.

So much is wrapped up in this one that you are tempted to fear there is no more to write for these characters, but the door is left open a crack. Could it be? oh I hope so.

My son is in first grade and has recently fallen in love with the Jack Stalwart books. These books have a super hero agent with lots of cool gadgets. He travels all over the globe. The stories are full of true, geographical information the reader about the areas that Jack travels to. We have started marking the places on our wall map and writing notes about the special things that happen there. These are great books!!!

Can't find these in our school or local libraries so I have to buy them online. My 8 year old has been having us read them to him since he was 6. He loves them! Soon he'll be reading them on his own. But for now it's a great book for us to read together before bedtime.

Narration is atrocious

Good story line but the narrator does a very poor job with accents. The Scottish accents sound Jamaican half of the time. The French accent becomes Hispanic. It was very annoying. Occasionally the pattern of speech seemed deliberate and disjointed which was also distracting.

The only person who may enjoy this narration is a four year old.

I will never listen to another book with this type of performance. I'm upset I wasted my money on this book.

It was terrible. His accents were unrealistic and not consistent. The music at the start of every chapter was distracting, startling, and completely unnecessary.

Please do yourself a favor and do not get this audible book! Read it yourself, but do not listen to it. It's awful.

I don't believed they used a professional reader for this book. The accents change , sometimes in mid sentence. Jamaican and Scottish often sound the same. My son, 10, gave up on this book after 2 chapters. We are reading it allowed and he likes it more. I think this work was just a bit too advanced for the narrator skill level. He does a great Jamaican thought, I'll give him that.
