Though I merely quickly perused the book when it arrived ...

Though I merely quickly perused the book when it arrived, I could see that this is very well written [would expect nothing less from the fabulous Chris Hadfield] and I became more excited than ever to present it to my nephew and his two sisters. Or rather, the book will be wrapped in festive Christmas paper for the kids to share over the holidays. Thanks for writing such a delightful book for young children, Chris, to teach them that the dark too has it's brightness and treasures!

Overcoming fears

Another reviewer recommended this as book to help with nighttime fears. My daughter is only 3, but is obsessed with our "special moon" book. She doesn't quite understand all the nuances as of yet, but she does understand that the main character, Chris, is no longer afraid at the end of the book. I think a lot of her interest comes from the beautiful illustrations and her overall love of planets and stars.

I highly recommend this book

Now, those in my family may be a bit biased due to being avid fans of the sordid adventures of retired astronaut Chris Hadfield, but this book over its two days in our possession is already seeing quite a bit of use. The dialogue remains simple and engaging for my four year old and the illustrations are glorious and reminiscent of Maurice Sendak. I highly recommend this book. It's subject matter - getting over the fear of the dark - is perfect for bedtime and on point for its intended age group. I'm particularly fond of the message from Hadfield in the back which states, "The dark is for dreams and the morning is for making them come true." May we all dream just as big.

A beautiful children's book by the astronaut who recorded a music video for Space Oddity while in space!

This is a beautiful children's book, I can't wait to read it with my nephew. The pictures have a subtle full warmth that you rarely see and the story is thoughtful with a great message for kids. I also want to point out that the author is the same astronaut that did the Space Oddity music video in space a few years ago! A true Renaissance man, someone you can be happy if your kids use as a role model...I definitely recommend this book.

Not what I expected

This is the story of frozen. Like totally the story that Disney put out. But with the added twist of a Hans point of view. For me, that made the difference in this story. It was what really saved the story.

The reader was perfect, I want to find more of him.

This was a very amazing book!

This was a very amazing book!!. I felt like I was taking Frey's journey with him!!! This book would comfort and help all children going through very difficult and scarey times in thier lives.

This is a wonderful book to assist children going through the process, to read and know that they to can find a loving home.

Mom's Gone...: and I'm in foster care (Foster Heroes Series Book 1)touches on a very disheartening subject in our country. There are a quarter of a million children every year that enter into foster care. Quite honestly before we read this book, we had no idea there were that many displaced children. It was a little bit hard for us to digest. We are grateful to Sylvia for bringing this to our attention.

Sylvia Santos has written a series of books for children who are going through the process of becoming a foster child.

Mom's Gone .... And I'm in Foster Care is book one of her series. It takes you through Freyâs journey, and how he finally finds a home where he makes friends, and feels safe, until his mom can return home.

Sylvia's goal is to empower the child so they know that there is always a person to reach out to for help, and that they are never alone and there are also other children going through the same thing as they are. Emotions are real and it's OK to share and talk about them. This is a wonderful book to assist children going through the process, to read and know that they to can find a safe home filled with smiles and love.

Renewed My Love for Horses

The author wove a wonderful story of three friends; a goat, a horse, and a cat. Into their mix a new girl is thrown. What I liked best was the way the five main characters all gave of themselves and by being willing to share, got love, support and friendship in return. The story is held together with the facts that life can be hard and painful, but the love of friends can make it magical. Great read for anyone who loves horses, or would like to get acquainted with them. Gave a copy to my granddaughter for her birthday. Can't give a higher recommendation than that. Loved this story.

For the life of me I can't understand why my son loves these books by Mark Cheverton. They look so amateur hour, like they're self-published with zero copy editing effort. But who cares what I think? They keep my son reading, and I'll never stop encouraging that. Might these books be a gateway to better ones? I'll never stop hoping for that. So...please keep it up, Mark Cheverton! Maybe consider hiring a copy editor. But please keep churning 'em out.

9 year old son loves it

My son is always excited to get the books in this series. He already loves reading, and I love him having even more of an excuse to read. I use these books as a reward for good behavior. I don't understand minecraft in the slightest, but I'm happy to see him engrossed in a book instead of electronics.

Amazing And Appealing!

This book definitely deserved 7/5 stars!! No matter how many times I read it, it never ever EVER gets boring!! Also, by using Minecraft as the setting, this book appeals to young readers, and since this book teaches important life lessons with wonderful metaphors, young readers absorb those lessons much more readily than they would in an adult's lecture. I would say this book (and the many other books in this massive series) should be read by children ages 7-12.

The second book did not disappoint at all. Great follow-up. Still hoping for more.

Quirky and enjoyable story

First, I want to say that these books are on the darker side of things. There is murder/death/etc. discussed freely throughout the book, and the characters are usually in dismal situations. Itâs a unique perspective for a murder âmysteryâ, as most of the characters seem sort of used to sudden death, and just take it as a part of life. Add in the fact that the world sees them as freaks, and you can see why everyone seems grumpy. Having said that, the authors have skillfully crafted a quirky, enjoyable story. The characters are unique, well-developed and, despite most being âodditiesâ, are rather realistic and believable. I really liked the feel of the world that was created, I imagine it about early 1900âs (I couldnât tell you when exactly, though â and I like that!). This writing duo writes with an edgy, sarcastic type of humor that skates the line between funny and dark. I canât wait for book 3!
