A great ending to a great series.
I really enjoyed listening to all three books in this series. It's epic fantasy, with a sci-fi element to the story, and the author carried it off well. I really liked the narrator, but had to listen at 0.5x. I love the narrator's character voices he used for the bad guys.

The world of Heven was populated, centuries ago, by Melanesian settlers from distant Earth. It is a peaceful, quiet world yet it harbours ancient secrets.
Kai just wants to fly. But flying is the one thing forbidden on Heven a world dominated by the mysterious, ever present clouds in the skies. What do they hide? For Kai, finding the answer might mean his death but how far will you go to realise your dreams?
Set against the breathtaking vista of a world filled with mystery and magic, Cloud Permutations is a planetary romance with a unique South Pacific flavour, filled with mythic monsters, ancient alien artefacts, floating islands and a quest to find a legendary towerwhatever the cost.
    Members Reviews:
    An interesting short novel
Lavie Tidhar's Cloud Permutations is a well written story about Kal, who wants desperately to fly. Flying is forbidden in Kal's world, but he really wants to fly. Because of his desire to fly certain events force him to be exiled from his home. This exile changes his life and leads him Bani. Together, Kal and Bani begin to search a tower and they'll experience an unforgettable adventure.
Cloud Permutations is one of those stories which you can read in one sitting. It's a wonderful and touching story about a different world, Heven, and its customs (things about Heven are revealed gradually to the reader). In my opinion Cloud Permutations is almost like a science fiction fairy tale for adults, but perhaps the best way to describe it is to say that it's a fantastic adventure tale to speculative fiction readers.
According to Lavie Tidhar's official website, Cloud Permutations was inspired by life in the South Pacific and a love of Cordwainer Smith, and it was written in Vanuatu. The author's interest in Vanuatu is easy to see in this story - it adds an interesting flavour to the story (this South Pacific flavour feels fresh).
I like Lavie Tidhar's writing style and the way he describes things. His prose is good and the story is interesting. This story contains an interesting Lovecraftian element in the form of a giant squid. This squid reminds me of Dagon, which - if I remember correctly - was a major Semitic god and was worshipped by ancient people (everybody who's read H. P. Lovecraft's stories knows that Lovecraft wrote a story about Dagon).
Cloud Permutations is a nice story and I can recommend it to speculative fiction readers.
    Many Ragged Layers
I stumbled into a #hashchat on Twitter, where World SF blog creator, GUD contributor, and prolific writer @LavieTidhar was answering questions from the audience. If the Library of Congress was on the ball with their Twitter archive, or I had a better memory, I could amaze you with the brilliance of my question. As it is, I will try to impress you with the brilliance of the book that I won with that lost-to-posterity question.
'Cloud Permutations' is part myth, part science fiction adventure. Its roots are both broad and deep; they nurture a story that is personal, well-defined, and brilliantly textured and contextualized, yet still archetypal.
Tidhar draws from his experience in the remote islands of Melanesia to paint for us one possible permutation of the clouds. Heven is a world populated, centuries ago, by Melanesian settlers from distant Earth.

The Bible's Book of Revelation set in an epic high fantasy world. Conservative political thriller in an age of chivalrous knights, epic quests, mythical creatures and ancient prophecies. If Tom Clancy and C.S. Lewis had collaborated on a fantasy novel, the result might have looked something like this.
    Members Reviews:
    An enjoyable surprise.
Asulon is a great first attempt by author William R. McGrath. I was originally drawn to this book more out of curiosity--and respect for Tuhon McGrath as a martial arts instructor--but I continued to read for the sheer enjoyment of it. Not everyone will like the novel. It is exactly what the description claims, so do not expect it to fit your personal fantasy-story paradigms. It is definitely an allegorical novel--somewhat along the lines of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and the Archives of Anthropos by John White. McGrath draws on his personal understanding of faith, philosophy, sociology, and history to create a realm that is both fantastical and familiar. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, McGrath works with familiar character types from heroic stories. This is a series I will read to the end.
    Good action and ambitious storytelling
This book is advertised quite openly as Conservative Christian fantasy, and while you don't have to be a Christian to enjoy it, you need at least a healthy respect for the Bible and a mind open to conservative ideas. With that in mind, Asulon is a good story, with memorable characters and layers upon layers of both plot and meaning. Early on in the book, the author promises to do to martial arts and bladed instruments what Larry Correia did to heavy weaponry. Alas, this being an EPIC fantasy, exposition battles with action for space and attention, and unfortunately exposition wins. Without reading the rest of the series, I don't know if this is the pattern for this writer, or if, having gotten the backstory out of the way, he will unleash his obvious talent for writing action. I would recommend this book for readers who want a good fantasy without excessive world-building, but at the same time have enough patience to get through the slower parts. On the whole, the characters and the underlying story make Asulon a world worth discovering.
    On shaky ground
This book is borderline for me. I want to like it a lot, but I'm not sold at all. First, the author is very direct about laws and religion, which I don't mind. However, instead of allowing the reader to read the viewpoints of people, there's a lot of explaining, not showing. As an aspiring writer myself, I believe that you should "show, never tell." This book tells--a lot. I can deal with that, even though politics bore me immensely. I realize that they are necessary to this novel, so I will give credit where it is due.
    However..
One thing bothers me IMMENSELY. In short, the author created a character named Rachel (if memory serves). She is a princess. The author created a prince. His name is Daniel. He is a prince. When Daniel speaks, or when others speak to him, they speak in normal, modern-ish English. However, when Rachel speaks, or when others speak to her, they instantly start saying thees, thous, thys... and it is extremely irritating.

    Critic Reviews:
"... a hugely fun read and with more complexity than the cover would make you suspect... a highly enjoyable read, with some interesting philosophical underpinnings and surprising twists. The book makes for a satisfying ending to the To Hell & Back series, which gave us a quirky, off-beat story about an unlikely super hero, with unexpected depths..." (Fantastical Librarian""One thing that occurred to me while reading this third volume in Matthew Hughes 'To Hell and Back' series, is just how clever hes been with the setup. What hes done is to take a lot of characters/elements that would normally suggest a broad situation comedy approach, then treat them completely seriously. Thats not to say the books are without humour there are many laugh out loud moments but the main focus is on the plot. The first book in the series was very good, the second was better. The events of those books were leading up to this final volume in the trilogy and its the best yet... This is a great series. The covers, while nice to look at, perhaps emphasise the silly aspects a little too much for such cleverly plotted books. Theres so much more to them than humour." (British Fantasy Society)

Funny but not the best in the series
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you liked the previous books in the series or Terry Pratchett yes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    The demon assistant.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Tom Lawrence?
    Maybe.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Near the end when the characters all realized how much they'd been used.
    Any additional comments?
The ending wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. It just didn't feel like a nice closing for an ending of the series.

He is a man they have never met, but who represents the future of the human race...or could destroy it.
    Critic Reviews:
"All the elements of this novel work very hard all the time, carrying not only a complex plot and fascinating ideas about microbiology, but a heavy satirical charge aimed at contemporary culture and also at SF itself. That it manages so well and is so entertaining is testament to Sullivan's skill and intelligence. I haven't enjoyed a book so much in a long time" (The Guardian)
    Members Reviews:
Feminist cyberpunk turns out to be pretty awesome!
Reminiscient of Margaret Atwoods "Oryx and Crake" series but way more over the top. My expectations for "Maul" werent that high to be quite honest and i guess that is part of the reson i was so positively surprised. To be fair its not perfect either. Specifically i dont like the way tempus is varied throughout the text but hey, there are som truly neat ideas to make up for it storywise. All in all id havet to say its a cool read. I never knew "feminist cyberpunk" could be so interesting.
    Three Stars
A bit disappointed in the story.. I didn't finish it.
Cyberpunk treatise on sexuality with a non-Western sensibility
Maul is gritty, profane, and violent, while exploring intellectual themes. The plot moves along vigorously, and the characters feel genuine. The teenage girls actually feel like teenagers (which most authors cannot pull off).
This is one of those books that you canât simply read and put down. You need to discuss it with someone else, because itâs very non-Western in how it approaches intellectual topics. Western works tend to have a thesis, a point that they are trying to make and drive towards. They must say a specific thing, and clearly, or theyâve failed. My main exposure to the antithesis of this is anime, and so this book reminded me strongly of works like Akira or Ghost in the Shell. It has a lot to say, and often takes philosophical tangents and introduces fascinating ideas. However it simply presents them to the reader to think on, rather than wrapping them together and pushing to âand thus my point is Xâ. Itâs disorienting, and itâs a nice change.
The politics and violence in the book are overblown, and people who focus on that will find it disjointed, with all this random "sex stuff" getting in the way. But it's not about those things - if you read it as primarily about human sexuality, with those other themes exaggerated in order to explore the sexual aspects of being human, you realize why those choices were made.
That said, the book does have some problems. Sullivan is terrible at physical descriptions. I didnât realize 10Esha was black until halfway through. It took me a while to understand the Castellations are underground, and I never got a clear picture of them. If I wasnât intimately familiar with malls Iâd have no idea what was going on during the mall half of the book, and even so a lot of the action was displaced and fuzzy.

Hate being left hanging!!! More please???
I was curious, when I read the blurb, as to how this spin would be a successful PNR, but Ms. Schroder makes it work. There are some typographical errors, but I was so engrossed in the story that it didn't really matter much. The heroine, Dika, grows throughout the story and the hero, Chrome Jai, is protective and strong... I can't wait to read the next book. I didn't get enough of the Daughters... I almost wish I'd found Thunderstorm after the author had released a few more in the series... Can I have more please?
    I really need book 2!
Dika Evans is over 150 years old.. she is also the granddaughter of Lilith, Adam's first wife/girlfriend/lover whatever you want to call her.. This is a refreshing detail for me why you ask.. well Lilith is GOOD for a change.. Its Eve who is the evil one.. But more on this later on.. lets focus on Dika for a minute.. Dika is the oldest of the Evan sisters there are 4 girls total.. While she doesnt realize who she is and the significance it is obvious to them that they are all different.. They all come equipped with super powers.. Which will all come in handy because of Evil Eve and her plans.. Plans that includes the Evan sisters as they are the 4 horse(wo)men of the apocalypse!! YESSSS!! im sure ive touched on my fondest for biblical fiction.. I love it.. I adore it.. I cant get enough of it!! So the sisters to be honest they call confused me I dont remember who is who.. I shouldve written a cast list with their abilities.. you know I love my cast lists!
Created/trained to protect Dika.. Jai Chrome has been watching her every move since her birth.. Though he wasnt there the one time she needed him (which he beats himself up for regularly) he intends never to leave her again.. although Dika hasnt seen Chrome she has felt his presence her whole life.. finally she calls him out.. and thank you god she did because the passion between those to could light a fire..

I really enjoyed it I didn't want it to end! You'll laugh your pants off!
It was a really good third book I enjoyed it although it could have ended a little better or maybe have been a final book.
All the characters were brilliant, I liked El Captain the best, he struggled with his brother but when it came down to it El Captain wanted to be a better person.
I would recommend all three books it will captures anybody's intrigue and as I said I didn't want it to end!
So sad. As such a let down
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I would not. Having read the two books that come before this one, I was amazed and love them and listen to them over and over again. Now having listen to this third book, what a waste of my time reading it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Julianna Baggott again?
I think I would have to check reviews before. The first two books were outstanding, however this third book, feels rush and unloved. It's like she hated every moment she wrote it
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favourite?
    In this book none
Was Burn worth the listening time?
    NO
    Any additional comments?
This book could have been great, but it's not. The book leaves you with a lot of unanswered questions, but most of all by the time she's rush you to the end, you no longer care about any one. Which is such a shame , I couldn't wait to read this book and feel so sad that I did . It's rubbish . She could have done so much better, can't believe she got the green light on this.

    MAX MIXTURE OF SCIFI/FANTASY
What made the experience of listening to Adamar the most enjoyable?
Great escapest story. The Dragon spaceship? A living, ship kind of like I have seen in other fantasy/scifi novels. Just wish the Dragon had not been slain, or has it? This book kept my attention, which most books cant do. Another thing, it gets better the more you listen
What did you like best about this story?
The action scenes were vivid and well defined. Also, the story rolls along in a logical and well thought out manner. The ending was a little predictable, but it is leading into the next episode. thought it was more entertaining than John Carter of Mars and really better written
What three words best describe Lee Strayers voice?
    normal, too soothing
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no, it just was escapist entertainment, which is what I got it for
Horrid - seriously needs an editor
Cyborg Dragon Space Ship...that alone should tell you something. This is just a bad book. It is poorly written and poorly narrated. The dialogue is stilted and truly odd. One minute we're listening to characters speaking normally and then it changes drastically. It's as if the author pulled out his thesaurus and went wild. The result is the following sentence: "[,,,] exposing her magnanimous ivory breasts." (see time stamp 4:22:31) I was so startled by this particular sentence I had to go back and see if I had heard it correctly and then I bookmarked it so I could let others hear it.
I really tried to listen to the flat narration and the confusing and poorly written story. I really did try but after 4.5 hours, I had to stop. I just couldn't take it anymore. Save your credits. I hope someone gives the author a dictionary to go with his thesaurus so he can see the entirety of a word's definition before he uses it.
    Over all disappoing
What would have made Adamar better?
Go sci-fi or fantasy, I like both but not mixed. Still scratching my head over the cyborg dragon space ship.
What could Scot C. Morgan have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Seems to worry more about the story's destination then the path there. If he'd taken some time to set up some of the events it could have been a bit more enjoyable, to much was just glazed over.

    The Unamed Prequel
This short ebook introduces you to The Haedyn Chronicles. (It is rated for age 15 & up. There are a lot of violent themes. May not be suitable for all teens.)
It is written so that adults will also be interested in this fast paced paranormal story. This prequel gives you more than enough to keep your interest in the other books, not a tiny introduction to the story.
If you enjoy spine tingling and creepy reads; would recommend this book .
    Original Premise and Lightning Pace!
I was really impressed by this novella. It started off strong and went right into the story, which I enjoy. There are always books that require a certain amount of set-up and explanation to prevent the reader from feeling lost or confused, but there are times when, as a reader, I just want to get right to the plot. The Unnamed is one of those stories that jumps right off the page, that takes off like a cannon and doesn't let go or lose pace. I can't wait for the first full-length book in the Haedyn Chronicles. I'll definitely be reading that one.
Disclaimer: I was provided with a copy of this novella by the author in exchange for an honest review.
    Cliffhanger!
I was honestly surprised that I enjoyed this story as much as I did. I am not normally a fan of this type of fiction, but Oliver's writing style sucked me in. The story is filled with edge of the seat moments that actually had me worried for Haedyn, and I can't wait to read the next book.
This is well worth the read - I'm glad I took a friend's advice and picked this up. Interesting, suspenseful, and well written, with complicated characters.
    An Intriguing Prologue
The Unnamed is a dark tale of medieval genetic experiments and their consequences centuries later. The two main characters are unique and appealing. The author does a remarkable job of detailing the complex motivations of both and of creating a new take on the mythology of angels and demons. An intriguing horror novella. I'll definitely read Haedyn when it comes out.
    so good!!!!
I want to start off by saying I LOVE books about demons. I instantly fell in love with The Unnamed.
This book is like no other demon book I have read. While it is short story and prelude to Haedynâs Choice, it was so awesome that I couldnât tear myself away for even a split second. If you enjoy books about demons, witches and vampires, you will absolutely love this book! I would definitely recommend this book!!!
