    Critic Reviews:
"In The Taste of Air, Cleare deftly explores the consequence of our choices, even those made with the best of intentions. A family saga bridging decades and filled with shocking revelations, hope and love, you won't be able put this book down." (Kate Moretti, author of New York Times best-seller Thought I Knew You)
"In this terrific novel, when two women learn their mother wasn't who they thought she was it leads them to question their own lives and choices. Deftly written, with lush descriptions of the New England setting, this is a book to choose as a companion for curling up on a sofa on a dark winter day or for laying on the beach in the summer. The Taste of Air is character-driven fiction at its best." (Ann Warner, author of The Babbling Brook Naked Poker Club series)

    Wow!!!
This book was incredible. The secrets that went to the grave and the ones discovered were perfectly fitting of the times. Both the author and narrator were new to me, and I think both are extremely talented. I loved how the narrator was able to put so much emotion into the various character voices. This book is full of heartaches, happiness and discovery. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher.

    The Taste of Air
    : Gail Cleare
I was intrigued by the title and description of this book. After listening I am not disappointed. The setting is well described making the listener feel they are there. The characters are mostly family, each going through their own drama when they get an unexpected phone call telling them their mother was in ICU in a hospital out of state. Many twists and turns and many secrets to be reveled. This book kept me listening to find out what would happen next.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Maryne Young was an excellent choice for this project.
"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
    Loved It
I truly enjoyed listening to this book, Gail Cleare and Marnye Young did a great job keeping my focus throughout the entire story.
    WOW what a great book
I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator.
Gaillard Cleared wrote a well described book of a family and they're own drama. I throughly enjoyed the book.
Marnye Young outdid herself portraying each character. She was well picked to narrate this story.
    Highly recommend this book.
    Amazing Story

    Book One was better.
Not as good as book one. Very predictable throughout.
The reader was good, although her baby type voice and slowness when Jeffery spoke was annoying. (And I had the speed set at 1.25.)

    Possibly the worst narrator!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I've literarily listen to hundreds of Audible books but I have to say this is the worst narrator ever. That's why I could not recommend this book to a friend, although the story is OK.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The worst intonation ever, not as bad when as the voices of a characters, but otherwise really nerve grating.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
    probably not
    Lovely, heart-warming story
This is a heart-warming story of loss, broken and restored relationships, and finding love again.
Wonderfully done, the descriptions of the gardens and the English countryside made me feel as if I were there.
Lovely, endearing characters. The stories of each one unfold and blend together seamlessly.
I listened to the audio version of this story and narrator, Susan Duerden, did a fantastic job.
I would definitely read more by this author.
    Pretty Good Story
The first time I read this author...The story was pretty good and the descriptions of the garden were nice. I Liked the characters although there were quite a few story lines
going at the same time... a lot of switching back and forth...I DID NOT like the narrator....her voice was cloying....the only reason I stuck with it was because the story was held my attention.. Will not listen to another book with this narrator.
    Love in an English Garden
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an unusual setting and lifestyle which is displayed .
    Precious
I am not a regular romance reader, but this romance captured my attention and then my heart. I have a lovely garden and this story brought it to life. Narration took a bit to get used to but she did an amazing job.

    Language: English
    Release date: 01-31-17
    Publisher: HarperAudio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 2 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
In the vein of Meg Donohue and Sarah Jio, Cecilia Galante's second novel delivers the powerful story of one young woman who's faced with an impossible choice - one that could have her making the biggest mistake of her life.
Thirteen days. That's all Bernadette "Bird" Sincavage has left to go until she's done with her probation and can be free again. Free from making payments to the supermarket she wrote bad checks to. Free from living at home with her overzealous mother, who's constantly nagging her about attending church again. Free to give her four-year-old son, Angus, the normal life he deserves. Her impending freedom and move to Moon Lake, where she's plunked down a deposit on a brand-new apartment, is so close she can almost taste it. What trouble could she possibly get into in just 13 days?
But trouble does follow in the form of James Rittenhouse - someone she worked with a few years ago. At first Bird is stunned to see James make the evening news when he's arrested for assaulting someone in a local bar. But that's nothing compared to the shock she gets when she discovers James hiding out in an abandoned church choir loft. Somehow he escaped police custody, broke his leg, and got his hand on a gun, which he's now pointing at her.
Although Bird doesn't tell anyone she saw James, there's no way she's helping him. She can't screw up her probation or her second chance for a new future. And she has her son's welfare to think about. Still. If only she could stop thinking about the terrified look in James' eyes and the fact that he's hurt. If only she could forget that once, long ago, James helped her out, and she owes him a debt like no other.
Will Bird jeopardize her future for someone who helped her out in the past? A past that holds secrets she's not quite sure she's ready to face? Or will she turn a blind eye and learn to live with the consequences?

Well written, held my attention, but basically a story about people - good people - who have hard lives. An expected ending in some ways and not in others. I recommend it but it is definitely not a "feel good" book.
... couldn't book the book down - it was a great ending.

James has recently been arrested for a bar fight that left his victim in critical condition and while he en route to jail, he somehow managed to escape.

    Publisher's Summary:
From the best-selling author of The Road to Key West comes a sequel guaranteed to take the listener even higher - another rollicking, hilarious Caribbean adventure that will have you laughing out loud.
Back on the Road to Key West reintroduces the somewhat reluctant adventurers Kansas Stamps and Will Bell, casting them into one bizarre situation after another while capturing the true flavor and feel of Key West and the Caribbean in the early 1980s.
An ancient map and a lost pirate treasure, a larcenous Bahamian scoundrel and his gang of cutthroats, a wild and crazy journey into South America in search of a magical antediluvian device, and perilous/hilarious encounters with outlandish villains and zany friends will keep you locked to your seat and giggling maniacally. (Not to mention headhunters, smugglers, and beautiful women with poisonous pet spiders.) You'll also welcome back Rufus, the wacky, mystical Jamaican Rastaman, and be captivated by another "complicated romance" as Kansas and Will struggle with finding and keeping the girls of their dreams. So pour yourself a margarita, and get comfortable. You're in for another rousing medley of madcap adventures in paradise, with Back on the Road to Key West.

    Enjoy This Delightful Caribbean Cocktail!
Take a trip back to 1980's Key West with Kansas Stamps and Will Bell and let the ride begin! These two fortune hunters incur considerable adventure and are, fortunately, not without considerable support. The cast of characters in a Reisig fiction adventure thriller are described down to the stutter and picturing the scene is effortless. Life with Kansas and Will is never dull--a romp through situations you'd swear are almost real--you can't make this stuff up! Oh wait! It is fiction--too bad--as the circumstance of this plot has them in possession of a 300+ year old map that will recover a single priceless treasure. From the Caribbean to the steaming, fetid jungles of South America picking up crazy characters along the way you can almost smell, these two manage to fall in love and lose almost as often as their fortunes. This is a mind-blowing treasure answering the age old question of the construction of some of the ancient wonders of the world--AH!! It has to be as there can be no other explanation to the exploits of these primeval cultures. I love the delicious way Michael Reisig paints the picture of his protagonists as well as the antagonists--no one gets shorted by Michael's pen. And the whole thing adds up to a delightful word-smithed Caribbean cocktail. This being part of the Key West series you can take heart when the book comes to a conclusion--another adventure by our beloved characters is just around the corner!
Look here for some fun adventures!
As with the first book, this was great fun! It has a lot of the appeal of "grifter movies" where you just have to admire the cleverness of the deception, except that with this book, you don't really feel the need to overlook the fact that the protagonists are doing something unethical. While our main guys are not strict law abiders, they are basically moral adventurers. It is told in an autobiographical fashion, but I don't believe any of it ever happened to a real person. However, it is rather believable and told in a fashion that is true to 1970's and 1980's southern Florida.

From Nick Alexander, the number one best-selling author of The Photographer's Wife and The Other Son.
Penny and Victoria are about as different as two siblings can be, one with a smart London lifestyle, the other struggling to make ends meet. But they are joined by more than blood, and their shared tragic past is affecting the present more than they realise.
When events begin to tug at the fabric beneath which dark secrets are hidden, the resulting chaos threatens to tear the two families apart. Could there be aspects of the past that youngest child Penny doesn't remember? Could the truth of Marge be more complex than the beloved mother the girls choose to perceive? And could the true story of that terrible Christmas be the key to understanding Victoria, Marge, and much, much more?
A moving new drama from Nick Alexander, Let the Light Shine is a tale of sisterhood, resilience and hope that will have you hooked to the gripping end.

    Nick does it again!
As ever, I was captivated by the characters. By the end of the book you want to phone the characters up to see how they are doing.
    Poor narration
The overall story was good, but the narration style was annoying to listen to. There were too many "Penny says" and "Vicki says" for the characters. You could tell which character was speaking and didn't need the extra he said, she said added every single time. It took away from the story and got irritating after hearing it so much.
    I did NOT order this
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I have purchased the ebook and this audible just appeared...I did not order this.
What was most disappointing about Nick Alexanders story?
I love Nick Alexander's books, if Amazon should check the records, I have purchased them all.

    Title: Purple Fables (Quartet)
    Author: Ingo Swann
    Narrator: Simon Vance
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 34 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 08-10-16
    Publisher: Crossroad Press
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 7 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
"If a fable is a legendary story of supernatural happenings," Mr. Swann says, "or a narration intended to enforce a useful truth, then these four are fables - which shouldn't be confused with fairy tales targeted only for children. These, then, are tales for kind and loving people of all ages."
"The Temple of Sanity" tells of an idea that became a reality and grew into an institution, only to develop rules and leaders, cliques and critics.
"A Clay-Modeling Lesson" tells of the four identical boys separated at birth and raised Christian, Jewish, Muslim, and atheist, and how they met as representatives of their respective communities.
"The Fate and Destiny of a Traveling Clairvoyant" tells of a woman with a special talent, who found that people prefer seeing dimly to seeing clearly.
"Watcher of the Purple River" tells of an old woman and a young man, and how she taught him to watch the river of life.
These fables came to Ingo Swann as a gift from a part of himself: He awoke four mornings in a row and literally had to write them. They have in common a gentle wisdom, a kindness, an empathy, that will make them immediately precious - and then unforgettable - to the listener whose heart is open.

Victor Dimir moved to America with his traditional Romanian parents when he was just a child. His Romani parents taught him their traditions and how to be a shrewd business man. But it was the attention of a classmate at school that taught a teenage Victor about his sexuality. When he came out to his parents he knew it would be difficult for them to understand, but he never expected them to disown him.
Andrew Jones grew up with a single mom and his grandmother teaching him about life; he had an absentee father at best. The only thing the man ever did for Andy that stuck was buy him a camera for his 13th birthday. When Andrew went off to college on a scholarship to study photo journalism, he wound up falling in love with his Romanian roommate.
They became inseparable and wound up starting their own business together; a gay porn website where people could go and watch romantic gay porn instead of the rough and tough, or wham bam thank you man crap that was flooding the Internet at that time. After 10 years together, they were still perfectly happy, but they didn't even realize something was missing until they met a broken young man that needed a family.
Matthew Carlson was homeless, jobless, and broken. He'd been on his own since he was 16 when he ran away from home after being brutally assaulted by several other young men that he thought were his friends, and then being told he brought it on himself for being gay by his parents. Matthew has done a lot of things these last few years just to get by. When he finds the flyer for All Cocks, he decides to call and see where it leads. What has he got to lose?
Matthew has deep-rooted scars that aren't usually visible on the outside. But when he walks into All Cocks, both Victor and Andrew see them, they also see him. Can three men that didn't even realize they needed each other get past the stigma of society to find a place of happiness together?

    Fantastic menage - excellent narration
We met this throuple in book one, so we know how it ends ;)
We get a very short back story on how Victor and Andrew met but the majority of the story is Matthew meeting the guys and his story.
I loved the background information and thought that the author did a fantastic job of showing us the love between Andrew and Victor without fixating on it, that way when we introduce Matthew it seems like a really solid triad without feeling like he was just an accessory.
For the most part I love how Victor is portrayed protective, alpha, a bit European but sometimes I think the way his speech is denoted feels a bit juvenile and less like someone who is learning a new language and more like someone who is learning to speak at all.
The other thing I dont love about this series is the author lacks contractions in her writing.

    Not Worth Reading!
As much as I love Catherine Cookson's works, Rosie of the River was probably the worst one of the 80 or so I've read. The setting is too modern. The characters are poorly developed. Some of the scenes didn't make any sense. If I didn't know better I would swear that she didn't even write this book! Actually, she may not have written the completed work, as it was published after her death. Of all of her books, this one just isn't a good read!
