Please Don't Bother...

This is by far the worst audio book in my library. Please note that it is only 40 minutes. It is an actual phone call of a Bob Doyle interview. The audio quality is poor and you can hear a constant echo in the background. It is just a cheap marketing promotion geared towards helping the "Meet the Giants Membership program".

Horrible Listening Experience

The information is okay, but the recording, of what sounds like a phone call, is almost impossible to listen to. There is a very bad echo and the quality is scratchy.

Great book

As the books jacket explains, this is a book of fundamental management concepts that have been compiled based on scientific research rather than simple conjecture. I have been a manager for over 15 years and I have read countless management books and I find this to be a great compilation of management principles. From the seasoned manager with years of experience to the freshly minted manager on the first day of being in the chair there is much to take away from this short read.

Managing People is Very Good

Really good book..went back and listened to it and took some notes. Some things only applied to larger businesses but some real gems were applicable to any manager. I thought it was really good and would recommend it highly for some good basic and very useful tips.

Survey of Implications of Psychology in Management

This is a survey of important results from quantitative psychology that seem to have relevance to managing people.

In some cases the narrative along the lines of "Common wisdom holds X, but quantitative studies showed Y", seems deep. But much of the books feels more like a refresher course for things you kind of really know, but may not quite have organized. Perhaps a really useful thing to reread every now and then, but unlikely to change your life.

The worst narration I have ever heard

What disappointed you about Hustle as Strategy?

The worst narration I have ever heard. The narrator was correcting himself midway through sentences, there was awkward pauses and a huge variation in the pace that the article was being read at (even within the same sentence).

Any gems that are within this article are lost by the narration.

Pointless

The narration was the worst that I've heard. No retakes, no editing.

The content rambled without structure.

Understanding gap?

Unlike Deaver's own publications (e.g. Free Agent, No Employee World - which I like), I didn't get the sense that Deaver when narrating was really in the mind of the author. It seems a bit disconnected.

The narrator has a fantastic voice but must have read this entire book in one sitting with no retakes.

I have never heard more stumbling in an audio recording meant for public consumption.

It is so distracting you will not be able to focus on the content. Not worth the money at any price. Please re-record this program.

Great if your in finance

Since I am not in the finance Industry this book was not relivant to me at all. I would have been nice to know that BEFORE I bought the book.

Read by someone else!!!!

I have heard John Maxwell speak and find him and his ideas inspirational. I wanted to hear him speak again and so bought the audio CDs. Unfortunately, this series is read by a professional narrator who sounds right off a television advertisement. Perfectly modulated speech is as UNREAL as it gets. Although I'm listening to John Maxwell's ideas, I'm completely turned off by the narrator.

I'll be much more careful next time I purchase one of his products. I paid for an audio CD to hear John Maxwell, not a delegated professional speaker. Reading it myself would have been less irritating and less costly. Mr. Maxwell, have you gotten too busy?

Real Leadership: What Every Leader Needs to Know (101 Series)

This series books on CDs is good to listen to. Good information to hear with new ideas and reminders for leaders on building or even rebuilding teams.

Must Have

Got the CDs. Listened to them and was pleased. Loaned them to a friend, and she loved them, too. Easy to listen to and understand.

Classic

Maxwell distills some of his best leadership tips, principles and stories from 4 books into one easy to read volume. The books included are Relationships 101, Leadership 101, Attitude 101, Equipping 101. John covers a wide variety of topics in this book such as: how to build and sustain trust, character, listening skills, how to spot a potential leader, how to build a team, how to add value to people, how to change your attitude, what is a leader, can anyone be a leader and much more. This is a must read for novice as well as seasoned leaders.

Outstanding

After reading the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership (loved it) and listening to the audiobook of the 360 Degree Leader (a little bit disappointing), I was eager to see what this collection of short Maxwell books had to offer. It is outstanding. Each mini-book is a standalone volume, but together they make a great complement to the 21 Irrefutable Laws. The book is a quick read even if you read it cover-to-cover, and it's especially well-suited for airplane trips or short blocks of time if you want to reach each mini-book by itself.

Maxwell is good at combining practical advice with theory, and making his material useful for his core constituency of clergy and religious leaders while keeping it relevant to secular leaders (and wanna-be leaders).

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Maxwell's work, or for anyone who is simply looking to improve his/her leadership skills.
