I loved this. I wish there were more Quilts of Love series to read. All so different, but so interesting.

Felt Choppy and Abrupt
Although I've loved some of the Quilts of Love Books that I've had the opportunity to read, A Stitch and a Prayer was not one of my favorite.
The setting was an an interesting one- Oregon in the days of the pioneers. The story line had the potential to be pretty interesting also- a new bride whose husband mysteriously leaves with the promise he will return but no details about where he has gone. The author lives in Oregon, and the story is roughly an account her ancestors experience as pioneers in the West.
However the story was very difficult to figure out. I kept thinking I must have missed some other book or something at the beginning, but as far as I know this isn't a sequel. It's a stand alone book. The action was very confusing.
The conversations were very stilted and didn't seem to flow well. There wasn't too much of the characters' thoughts and feelings either. So I think this contributed to the choppy flow of conversations. When the characters acted and conversed, we didn't really know what to expect because we hadn't been privy to what they were thinking. So conversations seemed abrupt.
Although the setting and story had potential, I just couldn't like this one. I give it three stars and a G rating for content.

Meh, just not for me. Florence is far too needy
You know, I just couldn't get into this book. I tried, I really did. The main character, Florenceâoi, that woman came off so needy and whiny.
I literally read all of her dialogue in a pouty, baby voice. I understand that she was pregnant, alone, and dealing with a medical condition but she came off more like a young child.
The constant stuttering to denote moments of weakness happened far too often for my liking as well.
I honestly thought this book would have a bit of pioneer spirit. I just didnât find it in this book.
