What did you love best about All Waiting Is Long?

I absolutely loved the characters in their new roles as young adults going through the most difficult of times. Mostly Violet as she always fought to make life wonderful for Daisy through love and faith and no matter what it cost her. She did this in a quietly and dignified manner. The stakes were high but doing the right thing was the most important thing of all not for herself but for the sweet child. I also loved the way the author enlightens us with the details of the city of Scranton the mentions of famous buildings, streets and all the unmentionables. I feel like my Dad was still with me sharing one of his own stories or two from his youth. I was able to relate to the community as it is my hometown. The historical buildings still stand with there grandeur and I am always gazing up to take in all the intricate details of the buildings. The stories our parents and grandparents spoke of were undoubtedly true. Oh my the goings on that went on, no wonder why the woman of faith were staunch and righteous and Barbara takes us back into the 1930 and opens our eyes to what life was like in small towns just starting to grow. I can't wait for next book . I'm sure it will be just as amazing !!!

This was my first time using an Audible performance. Tavia Gilbert did an amazing performance. I had to rewind a few times to listen again and again as I wasn't sure if their were more then one person doing the readings.

loved the action but kinda turned into a romance and made it a little hard to finish the end though is the ehhh kinda what I predicted but the book left it before it was confirmed which made me a little upset. Though good read over all.

Don't waste your time

Maybe just personal taste or perhaps I've been spoilt by significantly better audio books. The story has little substance and would seem to be written for children

Solid historical novel

Rollicking yarn with enough historical detail to make it interesting. Handle with care - this is NOT history. Enough real facts and characters to lull one into a believe in it accurate depiction of the life of the young William. Enjoy but best not to believe anything as factual.

Thoroughly recommended. The correct balance of action with a compelling storyline woven between the threads of real history

Farfetched but lovely

Quite a saga! Very enjoyable. Beautifully read except I wish the narrator didn't actually whisper when the book says a character whispered! I listen in a sometimes loud room, so everything whispered was lost to me.

Great Novel, Mediocre Performance

Would you consider the audio edition of The Dark Lady's Mask to be better than the print version?

Definitely not.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jilly Bonds performances?

I'm not tempted to.

I really loved the book, but I couldn't deal with the narrator. She was ok when she was just narrating the story, but when she started to do dialogue it was cringe-worthy. I just felt like she made all the women--these strong, intelligent, proud women--sound hysterical and whiny.

wonderful!

Seeing Shakespeare from the perspective of his once lover and muse is truly a delight. If you love historical fiction, strong women and Shakespeare this book is a must. Enthralled from beginning to end.

Excellent story, hard to hear in a car

This was a well crafted story line, notably for the way Shakespeare's person and works were woven in.

The narrator breathed vitality into the characters but low-pitched and quiet lines were nearly impossible to pick up against highway sound. I had to rewind (distracted driver alert!) or miss plot as a result.

Captivating!

The author skillfully weaves together the ancient past with current times into a story of love, redemption, heartbreak, and healing. I've both read and now listened to the book. Both times it finished I was choked with sadness that my time in Languedoc had come to an end. I'll listen again when I can no longer stay apart.

Wonderful

Calvin's wife dies and he is totally alone after all these years. His friend tries to help him, before he does the unthinkable , can he help before it's too late. A story that could be real, and keeps you hoping that everything will be okay at the end. A couldn't put down, type of story

Poignant. Reflective. Satisfying.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ripples Through Time?

Definitely the funeral.

What about Don Footes performance did you like?

The tone and timbre of his voice was perfect for a book about a 79 year old but his skill kept the narration fresh.

If you could take any character from Ripples Through Time out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Bethany - she's a straight shooter and compassionate.

Ripples Through Time is an exquisite, thoughtful examination of life, love and the mosaic of memories that make us who we are. I loved this book because it kept unfolding in meaning and substance as it went along, which is why literary fiction is so rewarding. Calvin is not a simple man, nor is the life he shared with his late wife Millie or the relationship he has with his grown children. But there is depth there and complex joy and a strength that made this book a winner for me. I guarantee you will find yourself pausing every now and then because something you've read has triggered a memory and if you're like me you'll also find yourself picking up the phone to make sure that the people in your life know how much you really love them. Excellent book!

Calvin's wife passed away one week ago, and now, at 82 years old, Calvin does not want to continue with his life. He receives the visit of Edward, his son in law's brother, who will try to convince him that there are enough reasons to go on. This is the story of four generations in a family, a story about human beings, but especially a story about human relationships. It is a story of despair, hope, regret, and love.

The structure of this book is composed by the main storyline where Edward is visiting Calvin, interrupted by several flashbacks which will tell us the story of Calvin's family. The family in this book, like any real family, is far from perfect, with their ups and downs, and this is what makes it real. What I loved from this book is how real the characters and their relationships feel. After a while it is like listening to a story about your own family, and that makes you care about them. Lincoln Cole has created characters that are alive, with believable actions and dialogs.

When you need to read something of substance...

I was given the opportunity to read this book by the author. I have just finished The Soldier and the Samurai by Louis Edward Rosas. This is my second and definitely not my last book that I will read from this author. This book is look back into history as only he call tell it. His inspiration came from a newspaper article from 1965. Based on rumor and a tale from well over a hundred years ago in Japan. The authorâs description of the time back then, makes you feel like you are reliving all the events. The mist in the woods, the ambush, the cries of the injured and a mysterious hero, a Samurai. But is he a Samurai or just a strange old man that rescues them? You make the decision. When you need to read something of substance, something that makes you think, I highly recommend this peek back into Japanese history.
