I recommend this to everyone who has enjoyed audio-books such as I, the Sun, or The Sacred Band; to anyone in fact, who loves the ancient world and years for stories that bring those days to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Edge of Revolt?

As David grows and ages, he is trapped into yet another wear, one in which he cannot protect his children nor, truly, the empire to which he's dedicated his life.

Bob Sterry's unerring ear brings the story an extra measure of reality through his deft pronunciations.

A Father's Love Never Changes

This book takes the listener back in time to the Biblical days of Kings and Queens and war among family members. King David has several children by several different wives. Back then a King could do whatever he wanted. He ruled the land wisely but was not so wise when it came to his sons.

This book made me realize that some things in life never change...many of the issues in this book such as incest and murder are still around today and will always be around.

I enjoyed the narrator's voice and the manner in which he spoke. I've always enjoyed how people conversed back in those days--such proper English.

I appreciate receiving this book in exchange for a review.

This was a gripping story and quite shocking in some parts but overall I totally enjoyed being brought back in time to this era.

A literary gem!

Ive always enjoyed books by Uvi Poznansky, they are inevitably written with great skill and literary charm. This story is no exception. What astounds me about this series, however, is the amount of incredible research needed to pull off such a feat.

How Ms. Poznansky created such a vivid, detailed, true-to-life account leaves me awestruck. Its as if she peered inside the Bible, spoke with the characters and witnesses who were there, and then created a realistic and moving portrait of Davids life.

I listened to the audiobook version of this title, and was delighted with the quality and variety of the narrators character voices.

I only selected this book to listen to by chance and I can honestly say it is an excellently written book. the Narrator really brings this book to life, you can imagine you are there, in Sorrento, Naples, Capri. I will select more by this author.

This book is filled with descriptions that fill your senses, giving you a taste of an Italy torn apart by fascism, war and its aftermath. Intertwined through a tale of greed and corruption is a love story that carries the listener along, impatient to hear what happens next, yet not wanting the story the end. With excellent narration by Imogen Church, I cannot recommend highly enough

What a wonderful wonderful book! The narrator was absolutely fantastic, every accent was portrayed to perfection. I didn't want it to end! BRAVO!!

The descriptions of the areas were wonderful the story managed to capture post war struggles and be predictable sweet with a twist.

Let Sleeping Dragons Lie.

3.5 if it would be allowed. The neighborhood is transported to who knows where and who knows when, apparently at the request of a dragon. Book 1 of the trilogy, sorts out the neighbors into friendly, smart, talented, kind, mean, you get the picture. We get to meet new characters on our new island world and they seem to get sorted into friendly, smart, talented, kind, mean...you get the picture. In the meantime, the dragon is apparently sleeping, more or less, depending upon its needs of the moment. The writing is good and the story, make that story lines move, but I'm having trouble caring about any of them. On the other hand, my interest is piqued enough to try book two where, hopefully, more of the story lines will sort themselves out.

A Seventh Graders Reveiw

I chose to read this book because it was recommended to me by my best friend. I found it to be a very good book. It has bad and good parts, but the good part by far outweigh the bad ones.

The beginning drags a little and you feel like you're getting nowhere. Just keep reading and the book gets to be very interesting after a while. It's hard to write down a prologue for the book without telling the whole thing, which is probably why the book doesn't have one.

Something I really liked about the book is that the bad guy, Nunn isn't all powerful, the book reveals his weaknesses too.

In the book, all of the neighbors at Chestnut Circle get pulled into another world by "The Dragon" who is supposedly the most powerful thing there is that controls all. Then, Nunn's soldiers capture them, kill "old man Sayre" and attempt to bring them to him. They are met up on the way by Raven and the Oomgosh. Four of the villagers kids gather up enough courage to run away from the soldiers. Soon everyone is caught up in a hunt for the dragon eyes, gems that give a person some of "The Dragon's" power. It is believed, that if you have all seven of the eyes you can control "The Dragon" and rule the Seven Islands. Obar, the good wizard is determined to get the dragon eyes, use them to destroy Nunn and prevent the dragon's wrath. Nunn however wants to rule the seven islands.

Mystery, suspense, intrigue!

It is really difficult to find a contemporary mystery. This book qualifies. I would also catalog it under thriller, suspense and even horror due to the nature of the subject matter.

I learned a ton from this book and even found myself doing research on certain subplots after I had finished.

Galerie was really well written, the pace was excellent and the narrator did a superb job.

This was a hard book to like,but I LOVED it once it all made sense.Vanessa is the granddaughter of Haloucaust survivors.Her family is a long line of taxidermists.She does not think this is an odd choice for a hobby.She gets ensnared in decades old evil and learns just what her family did to survive.A horrible yet delightful realization.Mark Deakins was a fine narrator.I was provided this book free by the author,narraror or publisher.

Nazi Horrors

Vanesa grows up in a house with three holocaust survivors, her mother, father, and grandfather. She also has an uncle who, though despised by the rest of her family, seems to be the only one capable of allowing Vanesa to express her feelings. She feels close to him. Her mother is a silent, solitary woman who is clearly not very stable after the horrors of the war. Her father is an angry, bitter man who despises his father for some unfathomable reason. Her grandfather is a broken, sad man who tolerates the abuse of his son.

Vanesa grows up not understanding her family dynamic but silently wondering what the unspoken and unfelt emotions are all about. She finally gets a chance at understanding when her father passes and she inherits a diary, of sorts, from him. This diary sends her headlong onto a quest to finally know why her family was so tormented by surviving the holocaust. Clearly, though, someone does not want her to know the secrets of her fathers diary. She is urinated on in Prague, then attacked at Theresienstadt, and finally kidnapped in a basement of horrors beyond her imagining. The horror comes home when she discovers just how her family is connected to the keeper of this dark secret.

Told mostly through the eyes of Vanesas estranged husband, there is a melancholy, forlorn quality to it as her husband describes seeing Vanesa for the first time and then falling in love with her and then, ultimately, being rejected by her as she is consumed with the need to understand what happened to her family all those years ago.

This is a wonderfully crafted listen with an outstanding narration.

An outstanding novel!

This book has beautifully drawn characters, and an attention to detail that made them people that I cared to know more about. The plot was interesting and well paced. The characters became so real to me that, although I loved the ending, I was a little sorry when the book was over. Narration was excellent.

Excellent novel - it captures the heart!

This is an excellent novel with rich detail of a past era. It is a complicated story told by weaving the past with the present so that the reader gets a feel for the full measure of the main characters. You find yourself hoping for the right ending and you won't be disappointed. The Author has written an excellent novel that holds your interest from the early pages to the last. And, if you grew up in a small town or farming community you will recognize something that seems familiar and peaceful even given the hardships of the times and circumstances. The Narrator did an excellent job. Jack Clancy has a rich voice, and gets the voice of each character just right. Thumbs up for this novel and the narration!

This is an overview of the actual book âThe Two-Family House.â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the originalâs content to determine if we want to invest the money and time to actually purchase and read the entire printed copy or E-version. This bizarre novel is based on the premise that the mothers of two different families who happen to share one house, each become pregnant at the same time and decide, at their birth to "simultaneously switch their babies" and not tell their husbands or other family members. At .99 cents, this summary is a good value, which is one of the reasons I have personally found âInstareadâ to be a valuable service.

Well written and interesting summary

This summary of "The Two Family House" is written well and kept my attention! It was an interesting read, and I think that it would be fun to read the original. "The Two Family House" is about two brothers who live in the same house with their families. One family wants a boy and the other wants a girl. The wives deliver babies at the same time and decide to switch when they both give birth to the gender that they didn't want. The summary includes an overview of the book's plot as well as a list and analysis of the main characters and their relationships, and an analysis on the book's themes. The summary will take you about half an hour to read and is very well done. I'd recommend reading this summary if you are interested in the story but don't have much time to read.
