    Disappointed!
There are 8 Angela Marsons audio books available of which six are in the outstanding Detective Kim Stone series which are all 5 star suspense mysteries. The Forgotten Woman is contemporary fiction. British author Angela Marsons should stick to the mystery/thriller genre.
    I'm hooked
I now can't get enough of Angela Marsons but will have to wait for more! I only they I had not survived her sooner. I went with the"name brand" authors who are great but Ms Marsons depth and emotional realism are not comparable. Alison Campbell is just as good so I will pass the time waiting by listening to more books she narrates.
    Very realistic
I found the characters to be very well-developed. They battle with alcoholism in a way that is realistic and overall it was an entertaining book
    Not what I was expecting
Would you try another book from Angela Marsons and/or Alison Campbell?
    Yes
What could Angela Marsons have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
It was too obvious- the whole story. It was unbelievable that Kit changed her life so quickly- wasn't there a waiting list to get in at the half way house? Every plot seemed very amateurish. It seemed like it was written by a high school student in an advanced writing class.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    Nothing
    I Managed to Finish
I didn't love it . Too much going on. Narator ok; maybe I'd like the story better if I'd read it.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this gripping thriller from the New York Times best-selling author of Out of the Ashes, an Islamic extremist is on a quest for vengeance after his only son is killed, and it's up to Op-Center to stop his lethal plot.
General Bob Underwood - a special presidential envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL - is en route to the Syrian city of al-Bukamal when a rocket-propelled grenade strikes the side of his Humvee, and the heavily armored convoy comes under attack. The general's bodyguard is brutally murdered, and Underwood himself is kidnapped. Hours later the president and top officials watch in horror from the Oval Office as the general is viciously beheaded by an ISIL leader - broadcast on live television through a direct feed from Al Jazeera.
The world is stunned by the bloody scene but even more so that this supposedly loose-knit terrorist organization was able to orchestrate a lethal attack on the world's most powerful military. American forces go into high gear on land and sea to retaliate, but when the ISIL leader's son is killed in an American bombing raid, his rage knows no bounds, and he determines to wreak vengeance on the American homeland itself.
With everything in the balance, Op-Center must assemble both its domestic strike force as well as its international intervention force - built around a seasoned squad operating out of the secretive unit that captured Osama bin Laden - to stay one step ahead of a ruthless enemy.

Clearly not up to Clancy's name
What disappointed you about Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Scorched Earth?
Technically the book was very weak and not up to Clancy's name. Narrator could not help this book.
Has Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Scorched Earth turned you off from other books in this genre?
Clearly will be cautious about anything written by Galdorisi.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Many times the voices sounded like little girls not men.
    very poor narration
the narrator was horrible it was difficult to listen to everyone was growling through the entire book
    narrator didn't get job done.
Don't these guys have producers. eventually everyone sounded the same. and they all sounded like the just got done running to catch a train.
    Terrible performance. Ruined the book
Since when did everyone at JSOC ,OPS and all the other 3 letter agencies speak with a southern twang while whisper all the time.
Almost turned it off so many times but suffered through it.
    wrong narrator
the story was great but it had the wrong narrator he did not convay the proper enflections to the story and it was hard to listen to with his Australian accent

    Thoroughly enjoyable!
This book has all the elements that I enjoy in a story: romance, moral dilemma, happiness, intrigue, mystery and dogs! The story moved at a good pace; I never got bored, and always looked forward to the next chapter. I will definitely want to read other books from David Johnson!
    A great story
I really enjoyed listening to this book. Toby represents a best friend to so many of us I'm sure. The story teller did an outstanding job and I will look for more from this author in the future. Thanks Audible!
    Love!
This was such a good book! It had heart and real life situations. I felt like I could relate. I simply loved it!
    predictable
it was a cute story. would be a good teen girl read. I'm glad it was cheap.
    Easy listen, likeable characters
I was so worried about the dog, as usual, but never fear! I enjoyed living through the eyes of the main character and her world changing before her eyes.

Professional psychics learn to deal with skeptics, but Abby has to prepare herself for one steep uphill battle when she's sent to San Diego to help train FBI officers to use their intuition. Her first challenge: a series of bank robberies in which the thieves made off with loads of cash but left no clues.
Abby's sixth sense leads her team to a tract of land recently cleared for development. But instead of finding clues to the cash, Abby gets a vision of four buried bodies. A site search turns up some bones and pottery from an American Indian tribe, but that's still enough to delay construction for years.
With a furious developer and dubious FBI agents on her back, Abby is losing credibility fast. But unlike the best laid plans, Abby's talent rarely leads her astray. And if the bodies aren't there yet, that means that four deaths can still be stopped. She'll just have to dig a little deeper....

    Predictable Awesome
I have such fun listening to Abby and how she expresses herself.
I listened to the whole book from this morning to 12:07am.
    Seemed predictable
Don't get me wrong, I love Abby Cooper but this story seemed a little more predictable than the rest. Also, was it just me or did the narrator have a weird flow? She kept pausing in the middle of words and it was really weird.
All in all I didn't MIND it I just didn't love it as much as other Victoria Laurie books I've read. Not her best work in my opinion.
Another great book in a wonderful series!
Love this series! Great mystery with smart funny dialog ! Narrator does a wonderful job bringing these characters to life!
    Another Great Book
I am so glad Victoria added another book to this series. I have listen to every singe one, this is one of my favorite series. Always exciting and you never know who did it till the end. Abby is growing she has learned how to deal with non-believers in this book without going ballistic. Candace gave her a way to to look at herself.
It was nice to see this change in character. The story line was excellent. Performance was excellent also. Now have to wait till next book comes out!
    fun easy read
really fun easy book to read. I love the narrator even though she tends to pronounce a lot of words incorrectly....over and over again.

Forget the movie. Read the book.
I saw this movie back in 1977. Thought it was great but it made me want to read the book. The book was better. Fast forward 35 years and there's an audiobook. Why not and guess what, the audiobook was even better than the print copy! and that made me want to go back and watch the movie again. This is where the love story ends. Watching the movie today after listening to the book, was pathetic.
Steven Pacey's reading is great and Sidney Sheldon's story holds up. It kept me awake until 5am.
    Entertaining
I had good memories from having read this book a long time ago. This time the plot seemed a little too much convenient at times, and more linear and obvious than I remembered. The narrator was very good, not excellent, but overall it was an enjoyable experience. Not all readings are masterpieces, right?
    Amazing!
Well detailed story and wonderfully narrated. Finished it in 2 days because I couldnt stop listening.
A tragic story of love and betrayal .
Great story of love, betrayal and vengeance . You leave the story feeling heartache for everything involved
    Brilliant book, brilliant narrator
If I could give 6 stars Sidney Sheldon and Steven Pacey for this, I would!! Just as good the second time around

wonderful givers you hope. family & friends love
This is a story of family and friends and finding the best you. learning to love your best friend. Fun read
Great for a Second in a Series Book
This is the second in The Girl's Series by Rachel Hollis. I picked it up immediately after reading the first book, Party Girl. Sweet Girl has all the same characters as Party Girl, but the point of view is Max's, Landon's roommate.
Max is rough, gruff, and aloof. But underneath she is a softy. The reader knows something happened to her along her life's journey, but we don't know exactly what. Max is independent and does not rely upon her family's wealth to get by, preferring to make it on her own. She lands a job working in the bakery of her dreams located in the hotel where she excels at tending bar, creating unusual drink concoctions customers have never tasted before.
After several months at the bakery, she learns the job was only short-term. She was a fill in until Joey, long time employee, returns after maternity leave. This not only shatters her dream of being a pastry chef, but also her income. What to do now? She hasn't told Landon or any of her other friends, or family, what she's been doing and finds herself in the difficult position of asking, or not asking, for help. Her relationships with her family are strained, and she pushes away everyone else, so feels a bit stranded. And she continually beats herself up for being who she is.
Although her friends want to come to the rescue, they're unsure where to begin since they don't know what's wrong to begin with.
The author, Rachel Hollis, reads this book herself. But because she has little, if any variation between the voice of Landon and Max, or any other characters for that matter, the beginning is confusing. Who is speaking? Who's point of view of are we in? We've completely associated Rachel's voice with Landon from book one. But here, in book two, it's the same voice, now, for Max. Although the adjustment can be made in a few chapters, the author could use some professional coaching on how to vary voice tones so the readers know who is speaking. In an audio format, this type of differentiation is essential. Still, it's not enough to prevent anyone from buying the book.
    Brilliant, Witty, and emotional...
Rachel Hollis has done it again with the story of Mac & Taylor.

A woman discovers that the foreigner she thinks will redeem her life is a notorious war criminal.

The Little Red Chairs is a book about love and the endless search for it. It is also a book about mankind's fascination with evil and how long, how crooked, is the road toward home.

Red, as Scarlet, as Enraging, as Bloody
You live in a quaint, if a little busybody, Irish hamlet, a beauty swept off her feet by a much older man, marrying in your well-earned white dress. 15, 20 years pass, your life is humdrum, sort of nice with your much older husband but your clock is ticking and his dock ain't kicking.
A very distinguished, intriguing, attractive foreign (perhaps Russian) doctor/chiropractor in his early 40s moves into town, renting a room near your art shop. He subtly suggests that you look like you need a lover. Your biological clock starts to wind in the corner of your mind, and you seek a child with this man, a child your husband cannot give you.
Weeks/months pass by and you become pregnant despite knowing now of a few negative character traits. One day government agents blow into this little village to make a highly publicized arrest of the most wanted Serbian war criminal (think, Milosevic, Karadzic).
PapaDaddy is, as it turns out, the Prince of Darkness, Beëlzebub in the body, Father of Lies in the flesh, Author of Evil, the Old Serpent.
The novel blasts with double-barrels, driven by morally difficult questions and, to my mind, unloading on some leaders in the Catholic Church as, at best, judgmental and indifferent to humanity and not at all worthy of reflecting the Redeemer, or, worse, complicit in abetting such a monstrous castigation that even Lucifer would have to look away. Ms. O'Brien has never shied away from criticizing or offending the Catholic Church of her Ireland.
Warning: this book contains one of the most diabolical and horrendous acts of sexual violence against a female in all literature, at least that I've read.
Only a Master such as Edna O'Brien
...could create this novel in all its devastating beautiy. An artistic triumph brought to life in this production. An unsettling and haunting tale that tears open the heart --as powerful and eternal and full of wisdom as the verse of Rumi.
    Good read
A journey of a life, choices, untidy, stops and starts, unfinished lives, stark in places, tender and hopeful in others.

    Publisher's Summary:
Annie McDee, alone after the disintegration of her long-term relationship and trapped in a dead-end job, is searching for a present for her unsuitable lover in a neglected secondhand shop. Within the jumble of junk and tack, a grimy painting catches her eye. Leaving the store with the picture after spending her meagre savings, she prepares an elaborate dinner for two - only to be stood up, the gift gathering dust on her mantelpiece.
But every painting has a story - and if it could speak, what would it tell us? For Annie has stumbled across The Improbability of Love, a lost masterpiece by Antoine Watteau, one of the most influential French painters of the 18th century. Soon Annie is drawn unwillingly into the art world and finds herself pursued by a host of interested parties that would do anything to possess her picture. For an exiled Russian oligarch, an avaricious Sheika, a desperate auctioneer, an unscrupulous dealer and several others, the painting symbolises their greatest hopes and fears.
In her search for the painting's true identity, Annie will uncover the darkest secrets of European history - and in doing so she will learn more about herself, opening up to the possibility of falling in love again.
Irreverent, witty and sharply sweet, The Improbability of Love explores the confusion and turmoil of life and the complexities of love, loss and hurt - revealing the lows to which human nature can stoop and the heights to which the soul can soar.
    Critic Reviews:
"Novel of the week. It all adds up to an ingenious meditation on the true value of art - timely indeed at a moment when paintings and sculpture seem to have become just another currency." (Mail on Sunday)
"Though this novel goes into the darkest of dark places, the overall tone is totally delicious; conspicuous consumption on this scale hasn't been seen since the Eighties." (The Times)
"Part of the novel's charm is that its characters, rich or poor, are all a mixture of frailties. Like a Rococo painting, this clever, funny, beguiling and wholly humane romance is a treat worthy of its subject." (Independent)

    Entertaining, Educational, Endless Characters
I was a little overwhelmed at first with the number of players in this book but was quickly pulled into each person and painting's back story and relationship to one another.
Read this book if you have an interest in history, painting, art dealers, trust fund babies, crooks, the working poor, fine cooking and love.
    Fun Art Story
Fun to listen bro while working. Made my day go by quickly. Loved having the picture talk to me. He was quite entertaining.
    Engaging story and memorable characters
A masterpiece. It is not only the story of a beautiful painting, but also the journey of the young woman who stumbled upon it, and its effect on those around the painting. The painting is the link to all of the characters.
    Storytelling at its Finest
From the very first word to the last I devoured this wonderful 'romp'. Quite apart from the first-class writing, the fantastic vocabulary and the feeling I was actually there; the narrators chosen were simply perfect. Discovering the Improbability of Love was a character made me laugh out loud. Brilliant. Please download - you'll feel better!!

Do men have different conversations when women aren't present? Is it ethical to arrange for the seduction of a gold digger? Whatever the answers, Mackenzie's narration is purely delightful." Went too fast
Would you consider the audio edition of The Revolving Door of Life to be better than the print version?
It was great to see Irene getting her due - can't wait to see what's next. I loved the fact that Bertie, Stuart and Ulysses got a break from that overbearing woman.
Reconnecting with the other characters was great.
One of the best in the series
I really enjoyed this book. I love most of what AMS writes but this is my favorite series. I was so pleased for Bertie, finally!
It was a nice relaxing listen but went by too quickly.
Each character gets more and more personality in each book and I cannot wait for more about Big Lou and her cousin as well as Bruce and Pat. Great book.
    Warmth, laughter, and principles
I was disappointed at first when I began listening to this book, because it was not about the same characters I had enjoyed before. I forgot that, as I became engaged in the lives of the people at 44 Scotland St. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. I wish I could tell Alexander McCall Smith how sincerely I love his writing. He seems to be able to enter into the minds of so many different kinds of people that it's almost as if he is multiple authors.. His use of language is marvelous, and the breath of his knowledge is prodigious.
    great story telling
    enjoyed the reading.
did get slow in spots that really had no baring on the story as a whole.
the accents were perfect in all the right places.
This is one of his best!
I love them all, but there is something special about this one! Can't wait to see what happens next, especially with Bertie.

    Publisher's Summary:
This snappy, sassy redemption story set in small-town Montana is "a wild and crazy debut novel by a talented young writer" (Jackie Collins), filled with an uproarious and unforgettable cast of characters you won't want to leave behind.
Welcome to Quinn, Montana, population: 956. A town where nearly all of the volunteer firemen are named Jim, where the Dirty Shame - the only bar in town - refuses to serve mixed drinks (too much work), where the locals hate the newcomers (then again, they hate the locals, too), and where the town softball team has never even come close to having a winning season. Until now.
Rachel Flood has snuck back into town after leaving behind a trail of chaos nine years prior. She's here to make amends, but nobody wants to hear it, especially her mother, Laverna. But with the help of a local boy named Jake and a little soul searching, she just might make things right.
In the spirit of Empire Falls and A League of Their Own, with the caustic wit of Where'd You Go, Bernadette thrown in for good measure, Richard Fifield's hilarious and heartwarming debut will have you laughing through tears.

I sometimes quit a book before finishing it - this didn't hold my interest I was looking for something like Where'd you go Bernadette? This book is nothing like that - not funny, not charming. Drug addicts and meanness.
    WOW! Just WOW.
This book is wonderful. If you have ever had a questionable past, loved a child that was not yours biologically and a little different, went to a bar, had hillbilly friends or just lived a life that's a little crazy...you might find some of yourself in here.
The characters are like people you know and maybe watch their hot mess of a life from a far while wanting to wrap them up and tell them "its going to be okay".
Don't miss this book, it will touch your heart and call to your soul. You will laugh, cry, cheer, and. miss this cast of characters when you are done.
Great story. Great narrator. its worth 2 credits but you will only spend one.
    Not for young children.
By chapter 3 I wanted to shoot myself!
The characters are gross, none with any qualities I could remotely care about or root for. The story jumps around so much I get lost and find myself asking which character the author is writing about now? The dialog was terrible...he said, she said, over and over until I wanted to shout for them all to shut up already. I regret the $4 spent on this one.
    Better than Expected
Although the book starts off slow, you will be smiling, laughing and crying by the end. on of the best books I have read in a long while!
    I was not wow'ed
I bought this book because of the number of reviews where people were so impressed with the book, I was not. It wasn't that interesting. The plot seemed very unlikely. Some characters were underdeveloped but it seemed like we were supposed to have strong feelings for them.
I wouldn't recommend this book to a friend, or an enemy. I was disappointed, but I did finish the book.
