Light sci-fi romance

I sometimes feel chagrined when I give fewer stars to an audiobook that most other reviewers have rated highly. For this audiobook, I give both the story and the narration three stars.

Narration preferences are very subjective, but I found it hard to get through the narration of this audiobook because the narrator emoted a wee bit too much for my comfort. Within the first three minutes of the narration I knew that I wouldn't be able to emotionally engage with the heroine because of the way the narrator gave voice to Sky's anxiety/panic/dread/hysteria. It sounded like she was experiencing significant post-traumatic stress for most of the book. For the same reason, the hero didn't resonate with me either - he didn't sound like a very attractive or compelling man, given the voice that the narrator used for his character. I'm aware that this narrator has done lots of work in children's literature, and I can definitely appreciate how her vocal style would fit well with that genre. But for this story, I increased the playback speed and focused on the content.

I thought that the story was okay. The plot made sense and was interesting. It's a light romantic sci-fi story with some steaminess and no real tension between the main characters - they both deny their attraction to eachother at the start, but find their happily ever after by the time the story is finished. The dynamics between the hero and heroine were very predictable, with no surprises.

What I did find interesting, and what makes me curious about seeing how this series progresses, were the cast of supporting characters. Most of the supporting characters resembled personalities I've seen in other series (e.g., by Ward, Showalter, Cole, or Singh), but there was one secondary character - a cyborg - who did pique my interest.

Hoax of the Academy series

I hated this book! Here's a 19 year old child playing a woman with all the men in her life who have great bodies. Where was the story of this book? And where the heck is the ending? This isn't good enough to spend $20 just to have to spend another $20 and never really read a story. Forget this, the Academy series is NOT worth the money or any more of my time!!

Love the brothers

Another book in the Auxem world. I love these books. All the brothers. Hope there will be more in the future with this world. I love the Terra mate books but i am very fond of the Auxem stories and also, i have to mention, the Water world books. These were my favorites out of all i have read/listen. Keep it up Lisa.

Avren and Vanessa

I have listened to every book in this series and loved them all but if you haven't read or listened to the books in this series there is no need to worry that the storyline might be a bit confusing. The background is filled in quite nicely and the background together with this current storyline make this a very enjoyable book.

Avren is the last of the five princes of Auxem to get his own story, he's sexy, brilliant and desirable. Some time ago he met and fell in love with Vanessa Dwyer a brilliant geneticist. They had their scientific interest in genetics in common as well as a very strong sexual attraction. Avren and Vanessa never actually made love because if they did they would become bonded until death but he did let her in on a secret relating to his race. Although they loved each he never asked her to become his because he felt she wanted a career more than she wanted to be with him. The result, they both ended up nursing broken hearts but have never forgotten each other. Now they have a second chance but will they take it?

Avren has now returned to ask Vanessa to help him find a way to alter the genetics of his race but will she agree? If she does do they have a chance to be together? So much has changed since they were last together. Will their research be welcomed by his whole race?

The plot is very involved the fact that the men from Auxem can't use their wings without a tremendous amount of pain and Avren wants to find a cure I thought was a good twist. It's a bit like we have arms but we can't use them without pain! You would expect this to be welcomed wholeheartedly wouldn't you?

All these questions are answered in this book but I can't say anymore without giving too much of the plot away. What I can say is that the writing style, chemistry and storyline are all fantastic as is the narration.

This review is written voluntarily and is my own personal opinion.

OMGosh!!!! I can't express how much I loved it !!!

Gorgeous hunk of man with brains, brawn and an undying love and faithfulness...Avren!! Set on his course of a cure for the agony of extracting their wings Avren enlists the help of the only person who can help him...Vanessa...his one true love.

Most excellent book in the series!

I didn't think the series could get better but I was pleasantly surprised. I love the narration great voices and Irish brogue! I fell in love with the characters and the loving twists and turns woven into the plot. I love the suspense and romance and especially from a Christian perspective. A great read that I recommend to everyone!

Loved it

What a fantastic ending to this series, it is sad to know my old friends will not be having new adventures, that we won't be following them through their lives.

Since it is time to say goodbye this was a fitting way to do it. This series is a must read.

Gripping Suspense Novel

I enjoyed sll of Lynette Eason's books in this series but this one was the best!!

Enjoying this series.

Love this series. Not too mushy romance, along with great detective, mystery challenges. waiting for the next release.

Excellent narrator

I love the narrator's Irish brogue. It's just as good as Therese Plummer as Parker Mitchell in Dani Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series.

I pray for more.

OOOMMMMMGGGGG!!!!!

I waited for this book and it seriously did NOT disappoint.

The writing is as always, epic. It pulls you right into the story and holds you captive until the very last letter.

Xander, once again goes through harsh and rough times in order to get his life inline, so to speak. He is falling in love with his best friend, and must decide what to do about it.

Meanwhile someone is out for him in a very BIG way, and he has to protect himself, his best friend and his mentor. What happens to him is more then anyone could ever want to go through.

I cannot go into detail but let me just say that tears were shed more than once, as Mr. Squiers leads you into a world where what you want to happen, is NOT what will happen. You cannot be prepared for what is about to happen to you as you read this book.

Get this book, and get ready for yet another masterpiece in horror, gore, love, and pain as you follow Xander Stryker into more of his life, as he tries to find his way and make things better......But be warned...the ending WILL leave you wanting WAY more. I know I am gonna die until the next book is in my hands.

And a small note of Thanks to the Literary dark Prince for his wonderful words in the end. I read the last page and more tears came out. I will be eternally grateful.

Really Looong Fight Sequences

Much as I like the characters in this series, I find myself losing interest during the overly long battles our hero gets into. And for someone who is supposedly well trained in fighting, he certainly gets the tar beaten out of him quite regularly. I will read the next installment. (I want to see where the romance leads.) But I don't know if it will be able to hold me enough to want to read more.

Better than the first book

In this second visit into the worldscape of "Crimson Shadow," Xander and Marcos, his friend and mentor are the sole remnants of the once proud Odin clan. Together they attempt to continue the work Xander's father started while taking out rogue supernaturals for the council. With his training finally complete, it's now Xander's job to hunt down rogues as Marcus gets the assignments.

I loved the storyline and can not WAIT to read the next one! I'm hooked to your books! :D

Five Stars

Absolutely loved this book.

Five Stars

Loved it, can not wait for the sequel.

An amazing read

Feels like rain by Janae Mitchell

A spin off from the âFor Alwaysâ series, you can read this alone, but I do recommend the series first.

A rich family have moved into town and are trying to buy all of the farmers land, including Reeds and Rainbeaus.

So far Malyn and Beau, Jets parents have managed to keep hold of their land and businesses but are fed up with the constant harassment.

So Jet is shocked when the daughter of this family comes to talk to him to offer her condolences and is surprised to find that she is genuine and that he actually likes her.

Jet is different from other people and doesn't like to be around them as he is an empath. He can feel what everyone else is feeling which causes him to distance himself from others.

But when he starts to spend more time with Kali he starts to fall in love with her and knows that she loves him just as much.

Then Jet gets framed for blowing up a factory and goes to prison and Kali has to decide whether to believe him or just to walk away and forget about their time together.

I was really excited to receive this book as I have read the âFor Alwaysâ series and they are fabulous books. This one didn't disappoint and there were some very emotional scenes in this story that made me both laugh and cry.

I loved the characters, as always, Janae will make you love them or hate them depending on who they are.

I didn't want the story to end and am calling for another spin off from this book!

Recommended to all who love a good coming of age story with love, lust, hurt, and happiness.

Must Read.

A must read, I do not normally read YA paranormal books. I won it and it had me hooked. You will love the characters. I recommend this book for the young adults that are coming of age. A good book about love and trust.

On All Hallows Eve every year, the bonds between these multiverses are strong enough to pull a body from one plane of existence to the other.

Edith Hornby lives in the clockwise universe - Edward Moriarty lives widdershins. But they meet often enough throughout their lives to form a bond even stronger than that which holds the universes together....

Title: Lost in Time: A New Generation: Legend of the Lamp, Book 2

Author: Kristin Ruggaber

Narrator: Jeffrey A. Hering

Format: Unabridged

Length: 9 hrs and 26 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-20-17

Publisher: Caer Urfa Publishing

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes

Genres: Romance, Science Fiction

Publisher's Summary:

Author Kristin Ruggaber does it again! Lost in Time, the follow-up to Legend of the Lamp, continues to uncover the exploits of Jessie Dillman and her family. In this series of "time travel" books, book one sends a young Jessie to live on a ranch owned by her father's friends who have very old-fashioned ideas. Jessie eventually finds herself back in time - back to 1868 - by way of an old cave. By the end of the book, Jessie finds herself back on the Dillman ranch in 2012, and pregnant. Lost in Time picks up where Legend of the Lamp left off, 2013 and into 2014. As we follow Jessie's daughter, Jacqui, from being a baby through the age of 19, we learn Jacqui, who suffers from a serious illness and throws tantrums at the sight of her mother, has a habit of getting her own way. After Jacqui's mistreatment of her and after too many "misunderstandings" with Jack, as Alice went through the looking glass, Jessie eventually finds herself in the old west again, this time of her own choosing. The writing is interesting and creative, as we follow both Jessie and Jacqui though the book while marrying time, family, and cultures together.

The history depicted in this book is well researched and captivating on its own. It will have special interest for those who live in Northern Nevada, but will have wide appeal for those with an interest in the history of the west, time travel, Native American studies - and true love - all thrown into one...make for a very entertaining listen. The ending of Lost in Time leaves an opening for future books.
