Surprisingly Good

Normally the detective story in a work of this genre would be submerged or glossed over quickly. I wasn't expecting a real detective story but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the plot as well as that of the writing. The moderate price makes this one an excellent purchase.

Ignore the title - book is fantastic!

Loved this book, another great one by this author. Karen and Brandon grew up in the same town and she tried to be a friend to him, his twin Bradley and the other boys he was raised with. Eventually her mother married Brandon's adopted father and became part of her/his family/pack. She thought Bradley was the one for her but they eventually broke up and she moved away for a little less than 10 years. When she's running home because the town of psychics thinks she an unclean halfbreed supernatural, Brandon rescues her the first night. She's felt for a long time that Brandon was more than a friend but because of Bradley she didn't know if it was real or just her wishful thinking. Brandon has always known that she was the one but because of the horror of his youth, he didn't think he'd be good enough for her. Loved this book! I like when books touch all kinds of emotions and this book sure did. I would recommend this book/series.

Disappointing...

The premise was good but it was written poorly. Dont get me wrong, the author displays talent but this story was not a very good example. It jumped around too much without explanation; it felt like there were sections missing. Very poor editing and disjointed. Wish I held out until the price dropped a bit.

A good read.

Worth the time and money. I laughed, and could not turn off my kindle until I read it from start to finish. A good paranormal romance with twist and turns.

The series is a must read.

Karen Ridley is a psychic and way over her head at the moment. She has come home to get away from the psychic community that has deemed her not psychic enough for them. However, home has it's own worries for her - namely her ex-fiancé, his mate and his twin brother. Karen was close to Brandon until misspoken words put a break in their friendship. This is a story about Mary and Luke.

Mary is a writer and just found out that she is dying. Luke is her live in assistant.

Mary decides that she wants Luke to have sex with her before she dies.

But Luke is a creature from the sea who has a commission and cannot go all the way with Mary into full blown sex.

Interesting story and book.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful

This story kicks me where it hurts every time. It's so beautiful. It's about a woman who finally comes to understand her own worth, but she has to realize she's dying to do it. It's a lovely tale of true friendship, true love and the bonds that we forge and carry with us into the beyond.

Yummy smexy read!!!

This is a quick read but surprisingly well crafted. It has a great story that is well fleshed out. I was easily enthralled from the beginning.

The fantasy elements are interesting, smexy magic toys, oh my!! Plenty of steam here. Mostly solo action with the toys. Loads of voyeurism! Hawt!! Be ready for a cold shower!

The story is a mixed narrative, mostly from the POV of the two leads. It gives plenty of insights into the dynamic of the relationship. It has a nice build to the feelings and made the story really sing. I am not always into fantasy, but this was a great story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Audrey Lusk, who is delightful! She has a wonderful pace that keeps the story moving along. I love her energy in this read, it makes the story pop. The steamy parts are very well done. She has a real feel for the naughty romances and all their nuances! Yummy narration throughout!

over-the-top sexual FANTASY

This is an okay, short, implausible tale, though the setup of the story is quite plausible. What occurs and, especially, the Barbie-like vision of the h, is where implausibility comes in. She was described as the quintessential librarian male-fantasy come to life, down to the glasses, pencil skirt, button-down blouse, and hair pinned up with two pencils. Of course, as the most stunning woman the H had ever seen, she had streaked golden hair, that the H admits might come from a salon. The tall h also has long, dark lashes swept over ivory cheeks, softly curved hips, delicate feet, muscular and curved calves, lush lips, and a firm but rounded ass. Is that over-the-top or what? In turn, we get almost no description of the H except that he has quite a package in his pants, nice shoulders and is sexy. Still, the characters seemed likeable. Its not that I dont believe in love or lust at first site; I do. But the way that the sexual encounter, without a condom, goes down is a bit farfetched for me. The writing flowed well, and the narrator did an okay job with the story. Though, for my own taste, at times, she sings her words when portraying a female character, which is one of my pet-peeves.

Creative, sexual

The opening was intriguing with a splash of humor to enliven things. Overall, this is yet another story about beings who require sex to stave off madness; they are the bred. Its the bred vs the born, with the born running things. Eventually, there are also cyborgs. They all live in a world created after the world stopped spinning.

The narrator takes a bit of getting use to. She is so mild that it can sound like shes unemotional. But she isntexactly. Her mild tone sorta adds a hint of romance and sincerity and reduces the rawness of explicit terms (i.e. pu**y) in a good way.

Sex, as full intercourse, was rare, so the story had a plot and purpose. In fact, it dealt with some meaningful issues like freedom, oppression, and selfhood. The story included about 2 acts of female masturbation, 1, barely detailed, male act of masturbation, one act of oral sex male-on-female, and several times sex was talked about as a past act and sexual desire spoken of. And intercourse occurred near the end, when there were about 45 minutes left. I liked everything except the end where it turned into this Aesops fable sort of thing with an afterlife agent telling the h about a lesson she needs to learn. And the epilogue opens the door for a sequel, though this book, thankfully, has a closed ending.
