    Publisher's Summary:
From YouTube star vlogger Connor Franta comes an audiobook that grows out of his massive social media outreach - filled with annotated postcards, notes, texts, tweets, journal entries, emails, and letters that chart his coming of age.
The front of the postcards feature his photos, both of himself and the things that inspire him, with the back answering questions from fans or relating anecdotes about the things that drive and influence him. Listened to from start to finish, the book tells a coherent narrative about Connor's coming of age and becoming an adult and the ups and downs that are a part of that. From bullying to dating to leaving home, this is an inspirational book for fans who are growing up and establishing their individuality. The various modes of communication in the book also reflect changes in Connor's own use of technology over the last several years.
A cross between an essay collection and a coming-of-age memoir, told in brief, the book is divided into sections, each beginning with a short introduction about what's affected Connor growing up. For example, a section on family begins with a short piece on Connor's family and what he's learned from them, so that his fans can get a greater insight into his life and learn something from it.

It was so, so great. Thank You
Thank you so much, Connor. You've written this book and it's helped me, as well as other, so much. The physical copy is great, but the Audiobook is so much better, your voice actually reading what you've written to us. Thanks. A Lot.

    Loved it
I loved it! I would recommend this to any one who wants to read it. I chose my ratings because this book was perfect!
    Inspiring, Amazing, Necessary
I haven't read books in a while, I loved them as a child but as I grew up I stopped. This is essentially the first book that I bought/downloaded. This is coincidentally my first audio book, ever, and it was nothing short of satisfyingly fulfilling. It might seem trivial, a 22 year old writing a memoir, but it's a little more than that. In a wonderful way it offers you new perspectives, it's an opportunity for you to re-evaluate your life, where you are and what you're doing, whether it is what you want your life to be. Amazingly relayed by the author, so you know exactly what tone, emotion and feeling each word, sentence and paragraph should evoke.

    Title: Elena Vanishing
    Subtitle: A Memoir

    Narrator: Lauren Fortgang
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 59 mins

Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Elena is vanishing. Every day means renewed determination, so every day means fewer calories. This is the story of a girl whose armor against anxiety becomes artillery against herself as she battles on both sides of a lose-lose war in a struggle with anorexia.
Told entirely from Elena's perspective over a five-year period and cowritten with her mother, award-winning author Clare B. Dunkle, Elena's memoir is a fascinating and intimate look at a deadly disease and a must-listen for anyone who knows someone suffering from an eating disorder.
    Members Reviews:
    Eaten from Within
Elena Dunkle's memoir re-lives her struggle with anorexia, when it was a separate force consuming her, a demon working against her. This might be the truest portrait of this disorder out there.
She gives a vivid account of the state of mind that anyone with psychological problems, from depression to addiction, can recognize, highlighting the inner voice that constantly counteracts any acknowledgement, any progress toward a healthy mindset. It's a harrowing story that gives you a clear understanding of the disease eating up a victim.
When Elena finally starts to come around, she is again, so honest and so accurate, that you know that recovery is not a straightforward path, it will be a lifetime's work.
The extraordinary Lauren Fortgang does a bang-up job as narrator. She makes it nearly a dramatization, giving the memoir an extra layer of meaning.
Says the voice in my head
Hate to complain about an anorexia memoir but have to be honest. The writing lacks. Too much repetitive inner monologue that doesn't serve the story or convey any pertinent emotion. Story is very vague and uninteresting. The phrase "says the voice in my head" every other sentence. We get it, you're trying to convey inner conflict but don't have the writing tools to show instead of tell. Heartbreaking story, and nothing against the subject.
The most beautiful and touching story I have ever read
I bought this book expecting just another eating disorder memoir. I was touched beyond words.
    Amazing, all of it.
This memoir is truly amazing. It brought tears, anger, and small moments of laughter out of me. I have struggled with an eating disorder myself. Nothing to this extent or extreme, but it took up a chunk of my life and my "critical mind" was nasty too. She still is sometimes and books like this one have helped squander her voice. Helped me to want a healthy mind and body. The author is so brave to share her story. I believe her story could help save lives.
I hate to complain about someone life experience but....
Meh = the one "word" to help describe my feelings. It's a very slow book with frequent flashback's and inner voice dialogue. In fact, there is way too much dialogue coming from this inner voice. The narrator's voice is fricking annoying to begin with which gets worse as soon as the inner voice starts going. And going. And going.

    Title: Call Me Cockroach
Subtitle: Based on a True Story
    Author: Leigh Byrne
    Narrator: Allyson Ryan
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 6 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-07-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 338 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Our prisons and mental hospitals are filled with tragic stories like Tuesday Storm's. Her early childhood was riddled with torturous "games" and violent physical attacks. She was isolated from the rest of her family, locked in an attic with nothing but a bare bed and a bucket for a toilet, and fed just enough to be kept alive. The experts say it's next to impossible to find the soul's light in a dark past like Tuesday's. They say she'll never trust again after being betrayed by the people she loved most, or silence the voices inside her head telling her she's worthless and unloved. She's doomed to suffer a lifetime of depression and self-destructive behavior, and destined to be drawn to people who will again abuse her. That's what the experts say. And the thing about experts is - they're usually right. Call Me Cockroach is a chilling illustration of the unfortunate truth that no one comes away from severe childhood trauma unscathed.
For those of you familiar with Byrne's debut book, Call Me Tuesday, this memoir is the rest of the story. To everyone else, it's a glimpse into the tormented mind and troubled heart of a woman struggling to overcome the debilitating aftermath of a horrific childhood.

    Amazing Read!!!!
Awesome read!!!! My life forever changed after reading the horrible abuse of sweet little Tuesday!!!
    The rest of the story...
    Any additional comments?
After listening to Call Me Tuesday, I had to know what happened next. I was so glad to know that Leigh Byrne told the rest of her story. And she did so with the same great writing style as with her first book. Call Me Cockroach is a much needed followup to let you know how the author's childhood affected her as an adult. I hate that she went through all that she did, but knowing that she came out as strong as she did gives hope to all abuse survivors out there. Again, Ms. Ryan did an excellent job with the narration. I'm looking forward to future books from this author.
    great books to follow

    A Well Written Book

    An Enjoyable Listen
This book is like sitting on a porch, sipping lemonade, and listening to my pal Willie talk about the good and bad times.
I've read another Willie books (Check out "The Tao of Willie") and this was just as good. While there are other musician authored books out there, this was much easier to follow along. Even if your mind ventures off, which is very common with audiobooks, it won't be too hard to jump right back into the story.
Willie talks about his past relationships, early music career, childeren, pot, and stories of rowdy times with other country music legends. One topic that stuck out for me was his views on golf, which I'm awful at, but he made me feel better about being awful. The thing I like most about him is the sense of calm that ensues when listening to his views on life, love, and just getting by.
Also, I could relate much better than some other listeners out there b/c I live in Texas. So the places he refers to throughout the book are literally just down the road from me.
Overall: If you're a fan of Willie or just country music in general, this is worth giving a shot. Willie's views don't lean vastly right or left of the isle. It's pretty straight forward and he's not much of a bragger either.
The narrator sounded perfect, and was quite similar to Willie's voice.

    Wow
Honestly I never really listened to Willie Nelson before and I picked up this book because of the title. I've always known who he was, my dad is a fan, but never did I truly know his story.
This audio book is like sitting on the back porch with your grandfather and listening to his unbelievable but true life. It was beautifully told and the accent gave me the comfort of home.
Willie is a remarkable man whose story is well worth listening too. He has had a life time worth telling full of riches, success, and determination and yet is still humble and down to earth.

    Title: On the Move
    Subtitle: A Life
    Author: Oliver Sacks
    Narrator: Dan Woren
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 52 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-28-15
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 942 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
When Oliver Sacks was 12 years old, a perceptive schoolmaster wrote in his report: "Sacks will go far, if he does not go too far." It is now abundantly clear that Sacks has never stopped going. From its opening minutes on his youthful obsession with motorcycles and speed, On the Move is infused with his restless energy. As he recounts his experiences as a young neurologist in the early 1960s, first in California, where he struggled with drug addiction, and then in New York, where he discovered a long-forgotten illness in the back wards of a chronic hospital, we see how his engagement with patients comes to define his life.
With unbridled honesty and humor, Sacks shows us that the same energy that drives his physical passions - weight lifting and swimming - also drives his cerebral passions. He writes about his love affairs, both romantic and intellectual; his guilt over leaving his family to come to America; his bond with his schizophrenic brother; and the writers and scientists - Thom Gunn, A. R. Luria, W. H. Auden, Gerald M. Edelman, Francis Crick - who influenced him. On the Move is the story of a brilliantly unconventional physician and writer - and of the man who has illuminated the many ways that the brain makes us human.
    Members Reviews:
excellent book from a excellent writer
sacks sums up interesting events in his life,
and do it in a captivating way. I devoured the book almost in one sitting if it hadn't been for the annoying need to sleep. I was especially surprised by his early life as a body builder and such, after knowing him as this rather whimsical scientist I've heard occasionally on Radiolab.
I highly recommend this book, it shines light on the eventful life of this remarkable man.
the narration was excellent. the only thing to nitpick on, is that I guess a brittish narrator would have made sense as he is brittish. but not that the American narrator was bad in any way
this book have made me want to read more of his work. he is a fantastic writer and it is sad to learn that he will be leaving us soon
    His Own Life
Who was your favorite character and why?
This is a final memoir since Oliver Sacks discovered he is terminally ill after completing the book. In an astonishing piece in the New York Times in February 2015 Dr. Sacks essentially bids farewell and says "I cannot pretend I am without fear. But my predominant feeling is one of gratitude. . . .Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure."
This memoir is honest and forthright about his homosexuality, his fear of his schizophrenic brother, and his internship and residency in California where he led a double life of medical rounds in the day and drugs, motorcycles and muscle beaches on his own time.
Through living on the edge, he seems to have developed the profound empathy for his patients that led to his wonderful essays and case studies about the neurologically impaired.
How could the performance have been better?
Surely, the publisher could have found a reader with a British accent for a more authentic reading of Oliver Sack's story. The reader fails to convey Dr. Sack's puckish humor, irony, or emotion.
    What an interesting life!
Sacks writes like a novelist about himself, his family, and his work.

    Publisher's Summary:
    Audie Award, Autobiography/Memoir, 2016
They all thought he was gone. But he was alive and trapped inside his own body for 10 years.
In January 1988 Martin Pistorius, aged 12, fell inexplicably sick. First he lost his voice and stopped eating. Then he slept constantly and shunned human contact. Doctors were mystified. Within 18 months he was mute and wheelchair bound. Martin's parents were told an unknown degenerative disease left him with the mind of a baby and fewer than two years to live.
Martin was moved to care centers for severely disabled children. The stress and heartache shook his parents' marriage and their family to the core. Their boy was gone. Or so they thought.
Ghost Boy is the heart-wrenching story of one boy's return to life through the power of love and faith. In these pages readers see a parent's resilience, the consequences of misdiagnosis, abuse at the hands of cruel caretakers, and the unthinkable duration of Martin's mental alertness betrayed by his lifeless body.
We also see a life reclaimed - a business created, a new love kindled - all from a wheelchair. Martin's emergence from his darkness invites us to celebrate our own lives and fight for better lives for others.
    Members Reviews:
    Very Interesting to me personally
I am the mother of a child with autism who was unable to communicate something even as basic as yes or no until he was 7 years old. Once he was able to communicate I discovered that he already knew how to read and knew so many more things than I could have imagined. I was thrilled to find a book telling the story of learning to communicate from that person's point of view. I was also very interested in his experiences with assistive communication devices. For these reasons, I may have liked this book more than someone similar to me in tastes but without my experiences would have. I was particularly interested for obvious reasons, in Martin's relationship with his parents, particularly his mother. Martin is an amazingly insightful, mature and forgiving person and I felt a lot of powerful emotion while reading this. The most powerful moment of the book to me takes place when Martin has regained his awareness and his family has no idea and his mother is weeping on the floor after fighting with his father about him and he is feeling so bad for her and she says to him that he needs to die. I could have died just reading that. I understood where he feelings came from but his reaction ripped at my heartstrings. Instead of hating her and being angry he is wishing that he just could die. So amazing. His attitude towards his mother was of great interest to me throughout the book. I thought he showed amazing understanding in his forgiveness of her and in his understanding that she'll probably never truly forgive herself. Clearly, I really liked this book. I am not giving it 5 stars simply because I found the ending parts much less powerful and they dragged for me. The end of the book details Martin's relationship with his wife - ending with their wedding. Clearly to him this is the most important part for him. However, and I almost feel guilty making this criticism, I would have found their love story more powerful if he weren't so determined to be in love with someone.

Title: It Was Me All Along
    Subtitle: A Memoir
    Author: Andie Mitchell

    Format: Unabridged
Length: 7 hrs and 14 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-06-15
    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 898 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
A heartbreakingly honest, endearing memoir of incredible weight loss by a young food blogger who battles body image issues and overcomes food addiction to find self-acceptance.
All her life, Andie Mitchell had eaten lustily and mindlessly. Food was her babysitter, her best friend, her confidant, and it provided a refuge from her fractured family. But when she stepped on the scale on her 20th birthday and it registered a shocking 268 pounds, she knew she had to change the way she thought about food and herself; that her life was at stake.
It Was Me All Along takes Andie from working class Boston to the romantic streets of Rome, from morbidly obese to half her size, from seeking comfort in anything that came cream-filled and two-to-a-pack to finding balance in exquisite (but modest) bowls of handmade pasta. This story is about much more than a woman who loves food and abhors her body. It is about someone who made changes when her situation seemed too far gone and how she discovered balance in an off-kilter world. More than anything, though, it is the story of her finding beauty in acceptance and learning to love all parts of herself.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying reference material will be available in your My Library section along with the audio.
    Critic Reviews:
"Andie Mitchell draws you in from the first cupcake - you taste the creamy frosting, feel every hunger pang, and your heart aches right along with hers. She beautifully exposes the dark and painful struggles of weight loss, food addiction, and self-hate that so many in this country face. Read this book because it offers wonderful lessons for healthy living, being kind to yourself, and finding balance. Read it because it's heartbreakingly honest and endearingly educational. (Alison Sweeney, host of NBCs
    The Biggest Loser)
"Loving yourself is the bravest thing, and I'm so glad Andie found her bravery and was willing to share it. Cheers to chocolate cake in moderation and happiness in abundance!" (Giada De Laurentiis, author of
    Giadas Feel Good Food)
"Andie's story, in which she takes us along for her 135-pound weight loss journey and makes peace with food, is remarkable. She chooses to see the positives from her past, and she realizes that who she was when she was bigger molded her into the person she is today. Andie is an inspiration to anyone who struggles with the challenges of dieting and weight loss." (Gina Homolka, author of
    The Skinnytaste Cookbook)

    Wanted to love this...
    Any additional comments?
I really wanted to love this because I've enjoyed Andie Mitchell's blog over the years. At first I was on board with her (the author's) narration but, as the book, progressed, the over. emphasizing. of. every. word. flat out got on my nerves. I understand this was her journey (which is more than food and losing weight) but I was hoping for more about her weight-loss process. What worked for her and why. It was included in the book but really only took up about 45 minutes of the narration, all told. Decent listen but I was hoping for so much more and I wish a professional had narrated it
    INSPIRING!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
YES, I would recommend this book because it is honest. It also made me think and relate to the author.

Wanted: Volunteers for Project Delta. Will guarantee you a medal. A body bag. Or both.
With this call to arms, Charlie Beckwith revolutionized American armed combat. Beckwith's acclaimed memoir tells the story of Delta Force as only its maverick creator could tell it - from the bloody baptism of Vietnam to the top-secret training grounds of North Carolina to political battles in the upper levels of the Pentagon itself. This is the heart-pounding, first-person insider's view of the missions that made Delta Force legendary.
    Members Reviews:
    Read at 1.25 speed
Reading at 1.25 speed made the narration much better. The narrator speaks unusually slow and I almost couldn't take it. Once I sped up the narration it became a much more enjoyable read.
Beckwith Makes Me Proud of my Army!
What did you love best about Delta Force?
How so terribly hard it was for our top Army Officers to recognise truth & the need to change with the times. Very sad, those body counters & fear of change Officers. But, I have seen them in all walks of kife, I'm sad to say.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Delta Force?
When Beckwith showed how his semi Brit tacticts & training works & beats hell out of shoe posish!
Have you listened to any of Alan Sklars other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is by far the best read I have listened to in over 600 Books Just great.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The resistance to change by many Officers up the food chain. But, their unnecessary loss of American lives as a direct result of their stupidity or worse, their use of troops to aid their chances for promotion! The fires of Hell are not hot enough for their male egos!
    Any additional comments?
I tip my hat to C. Beckwith & all of my thanks to the reader who brought this story to life. Well done & thank you! NDJohn
    Good Military History
If your looking for a historical book from the founders perspective this book is for you. If you are looking for training/missions (other than operation Eagle Claw which is cover in detail) read Inside Delta Force.
    Very good!
This book was very informative. I loved it. Also check out "Inside Delta" by Eric Haney. It deserves 5 stars as well.
    compelling
1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta (SFOD-D) is the militarys formal name for Delta Force. The Department of the Army has Delta Force and the Department of the Navy created the SEALS during World War II.
The book is divided into three sections. The first is about the SAS (British), the second is about the creation of Delta Force and the third or last section of the book is about the U.S. hostages in Iran.
Beckwith tells about the year he spent with the British Special Air Service (SAS) and thought the U.S. needed to fill the void and create its own special force. This unit would be an elite counter terrorist unit.
The middle section is about the meetings and Army politics Beckwith had to deal with to create the Unit. The book has to do with the formation of Delta Force, and as with any organization I am sure Delta Force has changed over time. Beckwith includes information about his two tours in Viet Nam and the use of Special Forces.
The last part of the book is about the selection and training of the members of Delta Force.

As a Bachelor fan, this hit the spot as a guilty pleasure. Courtney really doesn't hold back, and is still as mean and shallow as she was on the show.
Would have been a nice touch to have the others who contributed to the book read those chapters.
    Great for Bachelor fans
What made the experience of listening to I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends the most enjoyable?
    Great book for Bachelor fans!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I couldn't stop listening. Started when I went on a run and ended up running 6 miles so I could keep listening.
    Any additional comments?
The narrator has a very pleasant voice
My own voice had more enthusiasm than hers
Would you try another book from Courtney Robertson and Deborah Baer and/or Courtney Robertson?
No. The only relevant aspect of her life is her story about being the chosen one on Bens season.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I read this book on my own first and loved it. I was surprised about Courtney's lack of diversity in her pitch. It's like she's reading someone else's story. There just wasn't any expression in her voice - it was monotone
    I love it
I am a big fan of the Bachelor Nation. I did not like Courtney in Ben's season but felt her pain at the Women Tell All show when the girls gang up on her.
I couldn't stop listening to her book. Very intriguing!!
Pretty good but ONLY for Bachelor fans
STORY (reality show confession) - So I must admit I'm a fan of the Bachelor and Bachelorette series. I will also say right up front that I didn't care for the choice of Ben as the Bachelor and I was one of millions who disliked Courtney, the author of this book, who is the girl Ben proposed to at the end of the season.
Anyway, I listened to this book hoping to hear the inside track on what goes on while filming the series. I learned some interesting tidbits and also heard some juicy gossip about past contestants, but I had to endure a lot about Courtney's early years, her introduction to sex, her modeling career and her name-dropping of famous guys she dated.

Whether she is contemplating the history of walking as a cultural and political experience over the past 200 years (Wanderlust), or using the life of photographer Eadweard Muybridge as a lens to discuss the transformations of space and time in late 19th-century America (River of Shadows), Rebecca Solnit has emerged as an inventive and original writer whose mind is daring in the connections it makes. A Field Guide to Getting Lost draws on emblematic moments and relationships in Solnit's own life to explore issues of wandering, being lost, and the uses of the unknown. The result is a distinctive, stimulating, and poignant voyage of discovery.

    Made me sleepy
I love Rebecca Solnit's writing, and I especially love when the audio book is narrated by the author them self. The only critic I have is Solnit's voice is so soft my mind would drift from the story and wander, making me a bit sleepy.
    needs a more compelling reader...
... To express in articulate Ms Solnit's compelling prose. I found myself drifting even when I was deliberately trying to pay attention. The good news is that I've bought the book and it is definitely worth reading!
Why did they let her read this?
The author's lilting, soft voice took away from her authority. I would find myself daydreaming and at the end, struggled with why she wrote the last chapter. I am returning the audiobook to purchase a hardcopy. Her thoughts are gorgeous and insightful but it is all lost here.
    poor narration
I listen to audiobooks as I work, so it's very helpful if the narrator has some energy and inflections in the reading. For this book though, I possibly couldn't understand what the narrator was saying because of her monotonous voice. I couldn't finish the book.
    Such high hopes, dashed!
I had really high hopes for this book. I thought it was very poetic until I realized it wasnt good enough to be poetry and lyric, but the prose wasnt good either. I thought her voice was great until it started to grate on me and then she started fumbling with her own words and then the cuts got sloppier and sloppier. I couldnt even finish it...
