    Eloquently Written Pirate Romance
This book was written in the 1980's and has become a romance classic. I've read this in the past and I think it's even better with narration.
I love historical romances that are written with feeling, detail, character development and good romance....and this book delivered it all for me. It is a fun listen with many story and character twists along the way.
This is one of those books where ALL the characters are written so well that they feel multi-dimensional. The characters range from innocent, quirky, silly, mischievous and mysterious. The story takes us on a journey of the classic "damsel in distress" meets "misfit pirates". It is a voyage that historical romance lovers will enjoy. Yes, it's long, but with all its quirky adventure and charm it's definitely worth the time and credit.
The narrator did an excellent job with this sweet, funny, exciting, romantic, quirky, mysterious story. This is a must listen for anyone who enjoys a good swashbuckling pirate romance.
Great listen; didn't even notice it was so long!
"Windflower" was an engrossing listen. It is a WHOPPING 18 hours long, but the narrator moves it along at a good pace, and keeps the energy level appropriate to the story. Although the book gets quite wordy in spots, the story is well-written and my favorite part about it is that the authors incorporate humor into many of the situations. The change of scenery throughout the book (from an estate in America, to taverns, to pirate ships, to remote islands, to the English countryside) kept the plot engaging. Each character is very well-developed, and toward the end of the book, many questions the listener may have about some of the main characters are explained cleverly and eloquently.
There were a myriad of characters with wide variances in personalities and each was voiced competently by the narrator, who was consistent in her accents and cadences. She differentiated between each character very well, and voiced the many male characters with surprising agility, which can be challenging for a female narrator. The narrator has a sultry voice, which lends itself well to the suspenseful scenes, and the romance scenes as well.
I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys a good romance with adventure and humor woven in.

    Worth the Credit....Fantastic
If you could sum up Silk Is for Seduction in three words, what would they be?
    Worth the Credit!
What other book might you compare Silk Is for Seduction to and why?
I do not know that I could compare this book. But Ms. Chase is right up there (in my humble opinion) with Lisa Kleypas and Mary Balough. Stellar work. I've only had the pleasure of enjoying two of Ms. Chase's books, but I would buy more if they were available on Audible.
Which character as performed by Kate Reading was your favorite?
Well, Lucy "Errol" was my favorite character and that's saying a lot because Ms Reading was brilliant as the Duke. Lucy was such a charming character "maniuplative little minx" as her mother refers to hear lovingly.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I am listening to it again, for the 3 time since my purchase last week.
    Any additional comments?
I LOVE this story, it's believable, entertaining and well written. Let me just say, I would happily purchase the remaining books in the series when they become available. (I'm praying to Audible Gods). Ms. Chase is a fantastic writer, she makes your fall in love with her charachters. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
Please make the rest of Ms. Chase's books available for me to enjoy. I do not have time to read for plesaure as I am a gradute student. But Audio books make it possible for me to read (listen) while driving and working out.
    One of my all-time favorites
I love this book. The characters are strong and wonderful. The situation in interesting and different. The narrator is really good. Definitely give this one a listen.
    Great performance. Classic plot
If you could sum up Silk Is for Seduction in three words, what would they be?
    Wonderfully embroidered romance
What other book might you compare Silk Is for Seduction to and why?
Lord of Scoundrels of course. Same author, same period atmosphere, with meticulous attention to the details of the culture of the time, same tensions--between classes, and between the sexes. And showing how passion can transcend these differences. With help from plucky, talented, and beautiful heroine, bringing errant aristocrat to heel, using his weak spot for love.

    Title: Darcy's Passions
Subtitle: Pride and Prejudice Retold Through His Eyes

    Narrator: Andy Cresswell, Penny Scott-Andrews
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 14 hrs and 42 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-04-14
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 97 votes
    Genres: Romance, Historical
    Publisher's Summary:
Regency England speaks of love and romance when Darcy's Passions brings to life once again Jane Austen's classic love story. An interpretation of Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Darcy's Passions tells the story from Mr. Darcy's point of view.
When Fitzwilliam Darcy comes to Hertfordshire as a service to his best friend Charles Bingley, who has recently let the Netherfield Park estate, Darcy assumes the locals will possess "vulgar" country manners. So, when the opportunity arises, he refuses to dance with Elizabeth Bennet at the Meryton Assembly; however, from that moment, the woman's charms possess his every waking and sleeping minute. Obsessed with Elizabeth Bennet, Darcy places himself in a position to learn more about her while realizing his social status will not allow him to marry her. He manipulates Bingley and others in order to spend time with her. He tells himself Elizabeth Bennet is simply a "diversion" from the lack of society he finds in Hertfordshire.
However, if she is only a diversion, then why does he dream of her as mistress of his estate? Why does he seek her out as a friend for his shy, withdrawn sister? Why does he allow her to speak to him with a saucy attitude? Why can he not even breathe when she is in the room? Why does a raise of her eyebrow or an enigmatic smile or the smell of the lavender she wears create havoc with his emotions? His duty to his family and his estate demand he choose a woman of refined tastes. Yet, what his mind tells him he wants and what Darcy's heart knows he needs are two different things.
Darcy is a man in turmoil. He loves a woman he first denies as being worthy, but it is he who is found wanting when Elizabeth Bennet refuses his proposal of marriage because he does not conform to her standards of a "gentleman." Devastated, he must transform himself into the man she learns to love and respect.
    Members Reviews:
    Uneven narration
Andy Cresswell's narration, especially the voice of Darcy, was excellent. His voice for Darcy reminded me of Matthew Macfadden's in the movie version of Pride and Prejudice. However, Penny Scott-Andrews' narration was very disappointing. All the female voices seemed to lack emotion especially Elizabeth. They also did not sound very feminine and I longed for Elizabeth to sound more like Keira Knightly or Jennifer Ehle. The story was well done and I enjoyed seeing things from Darcy's point of view. Mr. Cresswell's narration saved the book for me.
Darcy addicts: this one's for you
Where does Darcy's Passions rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Top 5, but only because I love Mr. Darcy, and this story is all about him. I alternate between this one and P&P constantly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Darcy's Passions?
When he first realizes that he can't live without Elizabeth.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Andy Cresswell and Penny Scott-Andrews ?
Nope. Andy Cresswell was very non-exciting. Penny Scott-Andrews sounded like a robotic child. I'd LOVE to hear Colin Firth, as he is the ONLY Darcy.
    Any additional comments?
This book is for the die-hard Darcy fans. It has its faults, as other reviewers have pointed out. Jane Austen didn't write it, so that explains a lot.

    Made Me Smile
This is the second book in the series which follows Findleys journey to bring Maggy and her boys back to the safety of the MacDougall clan. {As I stated in my review of the first book, Laidens Daugher, this is not a historically detailed series but rather light romances with some historical elements}.
This is a feel good adventurous Highland story that is humorous, touching and made me smile more than once. Findley is a Highlander with a big heart. He is so smitten with Maggy that he becomes a fool for love and even lacks judgment at times. Maggy is a strong mother of 5 who tends to be overly secretive, sensible and melodramatic. Findley, Maggy, the boys, Wee William and the highlanders embark on an adventure to heal the wounds of the past and build on hope and love for the future. The narration was great!
If you enjoy a good Highland Romance story without detailed sex scenes then this book is for you.
What a difference a good narrator makes
I'm glad I continued with this series. I was ready to stop after the first book because of the distracting narration but this book was read by Brad Wills and he did a marvelous job. The story was good and held my interest. Maggie was a strong character and her care for her boys was evident. Her actions made me laugh at times. I liked Findley and, of course, Wee William. Overall, this was a good book.
    I enjoyed the humor
There are some very funny scenes that made me laugh out loud. Sweet heroine and an even sweeter hero. This was love at first sight for Findley but it took a bit longer for Maggie. I loved Wee Williams character. Cant imagine a man that size being so gentle and so tough at the same time. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The narrator did a great job as well. One of my favorite lines from the book, Im not just blowing air up your kilt.

    Publisher's Summary:
"Nobody turned my head with compliments. Nobody asked me to dance." An elegant accompaniment to Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice, Jennifer Paynters The Forgotten Sister plucks the neglected Mary from obscurity and reveals her hopes and fears. Mary Bennet spends much of her time apart from her family, closeted in her room reading or playing her music, studying hard for accomplishments. As her four sisters become absorbed in their own romantic dramas, Mary stands apart, believing herself "not pretty enough" to dance with. She watches while Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley - and Mr. Wickham - waltz into her sisters lives, judging all three gentlemen quite dispassionately (and as it turns out, accurately). But Mary may not be quite so clear-sighted when she finally falls in love herself. She will first have to overcome her own brand of "pride and prejudice."
    Members Reviews:
    Missed The Point
The Forgotten Sister is a well-written view of Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of Mary - the middle of the Bennett sisters. Through most of the Jane Austen title, Mary was pretty much a tool of embarrassment for Elizabeth, her sister. Here, the author attempts to flesh her out and give a new perspective on the bumbling scenes and endless sermonizing of the 'bluestocking' Bennett. Oddly, though, in a book clearly intended for Austenites, we're given a very dim view of both Elizabeth and Jane. And Mary, despite getting her own book, never really evolves into a sympathetic or even interesting character. I found I liked her no less or more after reading The Forgotten Sister. Sadly, I liked Elizabeth and Jane less as well.
Story: Mary is the 'lost' middle child of the Bennett family. Jane and Elizabeth have each other and their father's affection; Lydia and Kitty have each other and the attention of their mother. Mary, however, is shuttled off to different homes and influenced by the people she meets. Born without her older sisters' wit and beauty or younger sisters' vivacity, she is more an object of pity than familial love. Her father's patronizing communication and mother's abandonment especially grate; but Mary has music and she has scriptures. They are her weapon and her refuge as she watches life unfold around her family. Especially: Lizzy and Jane and their affairs with different men, scandals, and plotting before Bingley and Darcy enter the picture and Lydia and Kitty with their meanness. Armed with prayers and the Bible, will she remember the Lord's words as it relates to fellow man when she falls in love with a poor musician?
The story is rather long - starting with Mary's unfortunate birth. Honestly, although childhood situations set up later loves and heartaches, it did feel like the story took forever to actually get started. I wish it had been written in such a way as to start at the same time as P&P - there's just so much in there that felt like dead weight. The beginning only serves the purpose of setting up the third act; it doesn't really intrigue or entice the reader into Mary's story.
As well, I didn't like Mary. She was fairly wishy washy throughout - influenced by whomever was next to her at the time. Her little rebellions against her family were more impulses than an intelligent attempt to make a stand.

    Very Good Story but...
Reader's voice was too babyish. They were young ladies. Her voice made them seem like preteens. And Jane the older sounded like a baby where as the youngest sounded older.
    Excellent Pride & Prejudice Variation
An excellent third installment to the "Given Good Principles" series. In the first two books, we see back stories for Darcy and then Lizzy. in this book, we see how their different backgrounds affect their interactions once they meet. Highly recommended!
    The Narration Ruins This...
This book is fine. Unfortunately, all the author's work is to no avail due to the overtly affectatious performance of the narrator. Pearl Hewett is absolutely horrendous! Not only should she tone down all those high pitched, whiney, and sometimes nasally women's voices, but she should stop trying to imitate men's voices completely! (Seriously...we're begging you...please stop.) Just do what you're paid to do...read the book.
Honestly, this made me cringe. I couldn't even finish listening to the book. A+ for the story. F- for the lame performance.
    Narration kills it.
How could the performance have been better?
I couldn't stand the narrator's performance at all. Her interpretation of male voices put in mind old crochety men. It's very off putting. I enjoyed the previous two volumes and I'm upset that the conclusion I was so excited to get was spoiled by the performance.

    Charming and beautifully crafted
If you've read and enjoyed the first four books of this series, I'm pretty sure you'll find this story is a delightful gift. Each of the four brothers gets a piece of the action, although it mainly revolves around Ian and his idiosyncracies (and you do need to have read "The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie" in order to "get it").
Jennifer Ashley does an noteworthy job of crafting a Christmas story that advances the characters and doesn't feel like a tacked-on "holiday special." It even has moments with the more minor characters--Daniel Mackenzie, Inspector Fellowes, and the MacBride brothers--that foreshadow books to come in the series.
Angela Dawe isn't my favorite narrator, but she suits this series, and has definitely captured the distinct personalities of each of the four brothers.

    Wonderful Christmas story.
This Christmas story was done very well. I was happy to find that all the brothers and their family were written about fairly equally. I loved Ians gift to his son and was picturing it vividly in my mind. That would have been quite something to actually witness. I am now on to the next book in the series.
    Wonderful !
I love this author and this series. The story line is strong and the characters are great. I can't wait for the next in the series.
    Merry Christmas from the Mackenzie's!
The whole families together how can you not love that. Everyone gets their fair share of time in this book and we see the entire family with the kids and the dogs and the servants all enjoying their time together. It's an excellent feel good book. I wish it was longer but I realized that it was not meant to be a long book. I laughed, I cried, it was a very heartwarming book. Oh and by the end I like Hart more than I had in previous books.

    Publisher's Summary:
Maya Rodale's captivating new series introduces London's Least Likely - three wallflowers who are about to become the toast of the ton....
Lady Emma Avery has accidentally announced her engagement - to the most eligible man in England. As soon as it's discovered that Emma has never actually met the infamously attractive Duke of Ashbrooke, she'll no longer be a wallflower; she'll be a laughingstock. And then Ashbrooke does something Emma never expected. He plays along with her charade.
A temporary betrothal to the irreproachable Lady Avery could be just the thing to repair Ashbrooke's tattered reputation. Seducing her is simply a bonus. And then Emma does what he never expected: she refuses his advances. It's unprecedented. Inconceivable. Quite damnably alluring.
London's Least Likely to Misbehave has aroused the curiosity - among other things - of London's most notorious rogue. Now nothing will suffice but to uncover Emma's wanton side and prove there's nothing so satisfying as two perfect strangers...being perfectly scandalous together.

    New Top-Ten Favorite Author
What made the experience of listening to Wicked Wallflower the most enjoyable?
Maya Rodale is now one of my favorite authors. The combination of the really good story and a excellent narrator made this a most enjoyable read and listen. Emma is a wallflower who put her trust into the first fellow (the wrong one) who noticed her and mistook what should have been friendship for "love". Due to some coincidences involving sherry, a letter, a marriage-minded mama and a duke in need of money she becomes fraudulently engaged to the Duke of Ashbrooke. And the fun begins.
What did you like best about this story?
Ms Rodale writes a very humorous story. Emma may be a wallflower but she is clever and very witty. Ashbrooke may be a charming rake, but he also thoughtful and considerate and very witty. The verbal duals between them are great fun. Aunt Agatha's Fortune Games were hilarious. What I thought was going to be the usual plot with maybe a twist was actually a fresh approach to the Regency Romance genre. I think she read some of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series. It is in the same vein.
What does Carolyn Morris bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The narrator, Carolyn Morris, added just the right pop! She really does voice characterization well, whether male or female. Her Ashbrooke was so smooth and charming. At times you couldn't tell a woman reading a man's lines.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed all the way through the book. There were some sad moments (a couple of tears were shed, too), when Ashbrooke's past was revealed and another tragic lost, but on the whole ... very, very funny.
    Any additional comments?
I do suggest Ms. Rodale read Lisa Kleypas or Stephanie Laurens to learn how to properly pen a love/sexual scene. The few scenes she added were a little lackluster and could have been more interesting and imaginative. It didn't detract much from the story, but, it would have made it stronger.
    Laugh out loud funny romance
    I totally enjoyed this.
It may not have been completely accurate in its historical aspects but this was a totally entertaining book. I laughed a lot. The main characters were great. Blake has become one of my favorites.
