The future holds nothing but blood and death and Teia fears there is nothing she can do about it. Her clan is riding to war, but her secret, untrained gift of foretelling has shown her they are riding to their doom. If she cannot turn them from their course, her only hope of saving them will be to betray them to their sworn enemies. Gair is mourning his past but there is no time to dwell on his grief or hunger for revenge. Pursuing an artefact from the Founding Wars, he travels deep into the hostile southern deserts. As religious tensions erupt into bloody violence around him, he must make an impossible choice: save innocent lives or sacrifice them in the hope that thousands more can be saved later. And all the while, his grip on his powers is failing.
Read by Allan Corduner, who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has appeared on stage in Passion at the Donmar Warehouse, Serious Money in the West End and Titanic on Broadway, and on screen in Yentl and Topsy-Turvy, amongst many other roles. He is a highly experienced voice actor and memorably narrated the voice of Death when reading The Book Thief. He has read Elspeth Coopers' Wild Hunt novels for Orion.

    Story line
The story was spoiled at the start by the continuous and graphic sexual abuse of certain characters. The same understanding of the suffering could have been achieved without going into such details. Fortunately it did cease and the story continued from the first book and I settled down to enjoy it. I notice that there are no other titles by the author so the cannot continue. I wait in anticipation for the next installment.
    Great*****
Great read, continues to build the story, and a few more characters introduced, could of done with abit more about who Gair is, and just more Gair. READ IT.
    Loved it
I like the way Elspeth Cooper writes, how the world and the characters are described. Narrators voice was nice and I was amazed how fast my days at work went when I was listening to this. I am happy that I can listen to these books in english because these are not available in Finland.
    great
another great book loved it only negative side is it fills like a filler to the third book which would be fine if i could get the third book now and find out the story unfortuneitly not thou really did enjoy it but felt as thou many questions were left unanswered from the 1st book cant wait for the last 1 just wish this had more info on the main character from the 1st book
    Good but frustrating
Book two of a four(or more?) book series. Really enjoyed the first & I was keen to see where the characters ended up after the cliffhanger at the end of the first. Frustratingly almost the first third of this book dealt entirely with a new character - I had to check several times whether I was reading the same series. Eventually the threads rejoined & I enjoyed the rest of the book & was eager for the third.

    Terrible accents!
Why change the accents of characters? Doesn't follow the previous audiobooks accent-wise and it really spoils the overall listening experience. Very disappointing.
    fantastic rendition by jennifer woodward
Jennifer was brilliant and i loved the book it took me to a different universe
    The end of the series!
Long awaited finale of the series. This is action packed, with convergence of all your favourite characters
culminating with the final dual for Savannah. Who will win out, and who will survive, everyone is at risk.
A very enjoyable book, it always sad to reach the end of a series so Im looking forward to what comes next
    from Kelley Armstrong.
Fitting end to a fantastic series.
The women of the Otherworld has been on of my favourite series for quite a few years, so it was both with excitement and a touch of sadness that I started this final instalment.
Exciting and fast paced, the action comes thick and fast in 13. The third and final book written with Savannah as the lead, it also has one chapter at least written from all the other lead characters from the series (Elena, Paige, Jamie etc.)
Jennifer Woodward is a brilliant narrator, with nice tone and really good pacing.
An all round great read and fitting end to this fantastic series.

A most thrilling and captivating tale for readers of all ages....
Menarm was a great and prosperous kingdom, known throughout the lands for its friendly, hard-working people and fair trade. But a bitter struggle of succession between brothers left the kingdom devastated, the people divided. Some stayed with Fenil, who had conquered the crown, others followed Renil to the wild lands of the north, founding a new kingdom.
Now Adren, the last princess of the vanquished realm of Menarm, finds herself alone in a world where women live in the shadows of men. Not only must she battle her enemies, but also a truth that could obliterate her last hope for happiness and bring dishonor to all those whom she holds dear. On her quest, she finds unlikely allies in a powerful prince and a defiant mercenary, only to be devastated by an ancient and wily elf. Will Adren be able to survive this final assault?
The Elf and the Princess is a brilliant tale of true love, high adventure, and medieval-style warfare between elves, men, and orcs. Drawing inspiration from the myths and legends of Europe and from such writers as J. K. Rowling and J. R. R. Tolkien, Anna del C. Dye spins a completely original tale that will leave the reader wanting more.

    An Intriguing Story
What did you love best about The Elf and The Princess?
The Elf and the Princess reminds me so much of The Lord of the Rings. It has the adventure, wars, mystery, and even a love story that was intriguing. Keeping her identity secret, I often wondered how the princess would reveal who she was to the man she loved so deeply. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The narrator did a great job and I liked all his voices. If youre a Lord of the Rings fan, then youll love this one.
Sweet, fun and enjoyable fantasy tale
This is the debut book of Anna del C. Dye. I don't generally read too much from the Fantasy genre, but this was a fun, different and "real seeming" book. The events included battles, romance, a little mystery and a little sadness at times when events caused difficult situations.
There was a lot of description in the book and if made for an interesting read.
The narrator, George Tintura had a pleasant to hear voice and each character was portrayed in a different way making it easy to know the speaker, even the female voices.
It was an enjoyable book with a few twists and turns along the way. I am sure book 2 will be an interesting read as well!
I received an ebook version from the author for my honest review which I have given.
    Engaging imagery
The reader was very good and made the story come alive. The author provided vivid imagery. Made me feel like I was in the cave or on the horse with the characters. A story you can fall into!!!
    Sometimes tedious, sometimes good
I started this book with high hopes. I liked the book blurb description and was up for an Elven adventure. However, this story fell a little short. The beginning was easy to start with but then the timeline jumps around a bit and I had trouble following who did what when. Now, if you get past that, the story settles on 16 year old Princess Adren.
Initially, I really liked her character. Her mother dies shortly after we meet her and Adrens kingdom is in ruins. I worried she wouldnt be able to save herself let alone her kingdom! But she has been taking sword-fighting lessons from a master, Donian.

    Members Reviews:
A solid opening to this epic fantasy series
Union of Renegades is quite simply an engaging story. There are some things I don't like, but these are more down to personal taste than down to anything that might be classified as poor writing or storytelling. Indeed, the story itself drew me in, and I hungrily devoured each chapter, eager to return to the adventures of Dreibrand Veta and Miranda as they explored the vastness of the Wilderness and encountered strange races and foreign cultures.
There is a nice sense of history underpinning the story, a real feeling that the present in which Dreibrand and Miranda find themselves is the result of a steady sequence of events stretching back into the past. All too often, this is not the case in fantasy, with histories seemingly punctuated by earth-shattering events every two or three thousand years with nothing but boredom in between. What this history does is create a number of really difficult and complicated situations that Dreibrand and Miranda are forced to navigate, relying on logic and a guess at foreign proprieties to avoid giving insult and inviting some horrible fate on themselves.
And it is in the characters of this novel that Ms. Falbe shines as a storyteller. The characters are quite simply excellently drawn. If it is possible to say they are too lifelike, then they are indeed. I found myself really disliking some or expressing frustration with others. And herein lies about the only problem I have with the story, at least on a large scale: While Dreibrand is certainly the good guy and a decent sort, I just didn't feel 100% behind him. Even worse was my response to Miranda, who deserves sympathy if any character does. And yet, I often found myself thinking that she deserved all the trouble that came to her, that she just didn't think about her actions, that she was inviting harm simply by doing things that were completely avoidable. It was kind of frustrating, and I could imagine myself tossing a physical book aside in disgust-especially when she turned her self-inflicted wounds in self-pitying, even at one stage getting furious at Dreibrand when she was so very clearly in the wrong. In real life, I just can't stand people like that.
And yet, this mix of a uncertainty I feel about Dreibrand and frustration I feel at Miranda is all the result of characters who are genuinely real and lifelike.

"Balance good with evil's stain,
    Lest dark wizard's powers reign.
    Every hap shall come aright,
When Dragon's Pawn is Keeper's Knight.

free those who are wizard's prey,
    Web of universe shine bright,
    Turn the Darkness into Light."
Jarl had gotten his riddle from a kindly, grandmotherly sort of witch. But friendly or not, she'd told him pretty firmly he had to solve it if he was to become a hero who could fight off evil and find his way home to Earth. She didn't warn him, however, that this very riddle would also lead him into the most bizzare adventures imaginable - and that he would soon find himself contending with ogres, bandits, talking trees, and the dark minions of the Shadowlord himself.

    A Fast, Fun Fantasy Read!
Dragon's Pawn is a quick, fun read for those looking for a fantasy book that is a little lighter than most that are out there. The hero is Jarl, a computer programmer from modern-day earth who is recruited to become the hero of Realm, the alternate world where all the fairies, leprechauns, etc. escaped to when man chose science over magic. Jarl is appointed Dragon's Pawn and given an amulet that he cannot remove. As he does good deeds, the dragon's scales on the amulet turn to gold. So Jarl sets out across the country killing ogres, fighting dragons, freeing princesses from binding spells and the usual sort of heroic stuff. He finally makes his way to the Keepers who guard the Gate between worlds and discovers that the evil wizard is trying to build another gate, which would enable him to bring in evil creatures from every universe/reality. But does Jarl have enough power in his amulet to stop the wizard from taking over Realm?
I really enjoyed Carol Dennis' characters. They are easy to get to know and aren't really deep, but they were fun and they all have their own little quirks: Jarl has some hesitations about believing in magic when he first arrives, but quickly discovers that magic is real if you believe in it...;Mirza is everything Jarl ever wanted in a woman, but she is hard to keep track of as she can choose to be any shape she wishes; Fafnoddle is a pacifist, vegetarian dragon who would much rather develop new plants such as his steak-tasting fruit than fight; Ebony is the evil-wizard's dragon whom Faf falls in love with; Rory is a leprechaun who gets dragged into being the Keepers' contact with Jarl; then there are the dryads, the death-that-comes-from-the-sky creatures, laser-shooting robotic warriors, old librarians, other pawns, and many, many more.
The world is basically earth if magic still existed and is very easy to imagine. The plot is quick and easy to understand, as well. This book would probably be better appreciated by teenage readers and/or first-time fantasy readers, but if you read a lot of fantasy (as I do), you know that it is sometimes good to get a break and read something that doesn't take a lot of thought, but is still quite well written - if you fall into this category, check out this book. I look forward to reading the next couple of books in the series and seeing what happens to Jarl and his companions!
Lighthearted fun read with a sense of humor!
I was immediately charmed by the quick humor and light playful tone of this story (1st of 3 in the series...Dragon's Knight and Dragon's Queen completes the trilogy).

If you love LOTR/fantasy/depth then I would highly suggest/recommend giving these books a try. The relationships are wonderfully and carefully built. Swords and Sorcery, Fantasy and Horror
Characters: Author does a good job of character creation, adequate motivation for future actions, actors stay in character.
Plot: Basic, but well-done. There's a certain satisfaction in recognizing a familiar plot, and a lot of enjoyment when it's handled well, by a good writer, as is done here.
Settings: Settings also well-done. The reader can practically see the white breaths in the cold, hear the crackle of dry snow under the feet.
A bit too much horror for my taste, but that's just a personal preference.
Unlike so many recent authors, the story spends its reader's time unrolling the plot, revealing the actors and the actions, delineating the surroundings WITHOUT padding the book with page after page of endless descriptions of minutiae, as has become so fashionable in the last few years, creating 500- and 600- page monstrosities. Around four hundred pages was just right, letting the story come to a close naturally.
    Nicely done!
Great start to a new fantasy series
I picked this up while browsing and had a hard time putting it down. The story at first appears to be standard for the fantasy genre but it has some nice twists throughout.Halfway through the book after a certain event I won't mention and spoil, I was thinking "What now?" as the story seemed to come to an abrupt end but it slowly unravels into a wonderful, believable story thats true to life with all its unpredictability.
The characters are flawed and because of that very believable. No one is all good or all bad and they all harbor regrets and doubts throughout their respective journeys.
Odesse seems to be the main character though there are several that get plenty of face time throughout the book. She is likeable and believeable and caught up in things much bigger than herself. Brys is a newly knighted Mercenary who struggles with doing the right thing or looking after his own desires and ambitions.
