Hold That Pose

A very good story of first love between college roommates, John and French exchange student, Etienne. Not a huge amount of back story, but enough to give the character depth. Very little angst makes this (somewhat) GFY love story kind of sappy, but definitely enjoyable. The narrator was excellent with Etienne's French accent.

I'm a little disappointed

the story was fine, but I can't help feeling there could have been a little more depth to the characters, I just didn't feel the passion in this one.

the narrator did a good enough job his voice didn't mess up the story or anything like that but it was definitely not my favorite.

I would recommend getting this book with a free credit or when it's on sale, but as for buying it.....save your money.

Another Favorite

Victoria Davenport the ADHD genius and the most entertaining character in the book A Deafening Whisper is back. Because I'm a woman with too much imagination and too much time to indulge it, I have a list of characters from my favorite lesbian romance novels that I'm in love with and Vicky is so totally on it. I've had a couple of friends at separate times in my life who possessed that same type of life force; the type of person that improves your day, any day they're a part of it. Like any of us who ever attended a four year college, suffering through at least occasional academic condescension from stuffy fossils with tenure it was always sweet when a student could take them down. I loved it when Vicky displayed her idetic memory to the dean and a stuffy professor.

The author does take a couple of lazy shortcuts with catchphrases that had already been overused in DW. Her roommate is a bit one dimensional but adds a character by which she can show off a side of herself that stood front and center in Deafening Whisper. Great buy.

Beautiful story, But Very Sad.

Just hearing Hollie Jackson keeps in seat even in the saddest parts. Erik went to the dark side for this story of broken singer that they never let heal even a little. There was no sunshine for the singer who's life finely ends with all blinds pulled back in hospices dying of Cancer telling her last story. Told only as Miss Jackson can weave one. This one in tears.

Best one yet!

My favourite book of the series. I loved these characters, although it did take me a little while to warm up to Noah, but once I did, I adored him.

A heart wrenching story that held me captive all of the way through. âItâs okay, baby,â Noah whispered. âIâll be strong for the both of us this time. You can have the next turn.â Cue the ugly cry! Probably best to read this somewhere you don't mind sobbing!

A love like this is worth fighting for....

What would you do if you were given a chance to right your wrongs? If you could prove your love to the one who walked away because you took it for granted they'd always be there? This is an amazing story about healing, about owning up to who you really are, about atoning for the hurt you caused and about loving someone through their pain even if it feels like things will never be right again. We all need a love like this in our lives....

The most important thing is love

Troy and Noah, best friends since childhood and lovers behind closed doors.

I'm so happy that Noah finally recognised whats important and that Troy was the one thing he couldn't be without.

It's sad to know that in real life people have to walk away from love like this because of fear of what family, friends and society will think. Everyone should be able to love freely.

AMAZING~SO CHARITY PARKERSON FANTASTIC

This is another outstanding HIT in this magnificent HARD HIT SERIES. Each story continues to out do the one before but they can all be read as a standalone. I loved this story between Noah and Troy. How they had the strength to hold on. I like how Charity Parkerson writes stories about strong men who don't have all the answers but are in love enough to give it a try. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS AFFORDABLE SERIES!!!

My fave one so far

Oh Troy and Noah. The feels! What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas just ask Noah. When he and his best friend Troy give each other one night, the feelings follow both of them wherever they go.

Wow!!!!

So much to love. Liam and Blaine are great characters. I fell in love with Blaine and wanted to adopt and mother Liam. I have never been to Rio. Teodora Kostova made it seem like I was there. The respect and love she has for the country comes through not only from her descriptions but also with the characters' actions, especially Liam's. Alexander Doddy did a fabulous job. You felt the emotions and the way he was able to convey different characters and the personality in what they said was spot on. Plus the accent OMG I could listen to him all day...sigh.

I received an ARC in exchange for a review and I loved this book.

Both Liam and Blaine are feeling down. Blaine recently divorced and Liam recently went through a breakup.

Liam is in a bind because his dream vacation is slipping away from him because it is a couples vacation. In comes Blaine to save the vacation.

These two develop a friendship before they even leave for vacation and starts the journey of falling in love.

I felt like I was on vacation with them doing all of the sightseeing. I loved it. You watch them both try to fight the chemistry and feelings but as you and I know, that never lasts.

In the end, they realize thy need to be together and move forward with a huge change in life to be happy. gotta love Rio

I loved this book. I want more of these guys

Short, sweet, Holiday fun

This is a sweet short story more of a fantasy really theres almost no angst or any real hurdles for our couple to overcome.

Its merely the story of two old high school rivals meeting again later in life and falling in love.

Its very sweet and a nice, fun read.

(FWIW the author tells us this was his first published story and its very good for being his first!)

Derrick McClain does another really nice job with this lovely short story! There are no accents or anything to make the two MCs unique, but its always easy to tell who is speaking. Hes good with the smexy times and the bit of emotion that we see here. A great way to enjoy this lovely little story!

Could have been....

It could have been a nice story but the main character was made to be whiny and too emasculated. These seemed to be the trend on these new books released recently. I had to fast forward them to skip the repeated sexual encounter and description of how big, how hard, how excited they are which make it so boring. It's hard to fantasize on it!

Quick, fun, and thoroughly entertaining

Every story so far in this series has been a delight to listen to. Half Moon Rising was quick, fun, a bit cheesy, thoroughly entertaining and somewhat predictable.

Told from the dual POV of Sawyer and Troy, the story follows the two meeting, with Sawyer in wolf form at first and recognizing Troy as his mate, and then again as humans. Troy is immediately captivated and, after an initial hard time with the whole werewolf thing, is enthusiastically on board with having Sawyer as his own. Unfortunately, there is someone actively trying to destroy anything that belongs to Troy...including Sawyer. So Troy calls on his brother assassins to help take care of his man, and take care of this problem, once and for all.

I really enjoyed Greg (Tremblay) Boudreaux's narration. He continues to raise the bar with how well this series is narrated. Greg blends the ridiculous with the passionate and makes everything completely delightful to listen to.

What I liked: Troy's honest reaction to finding out his partner was a werewolf, there was a better cohesiveness to the writing of so many on-page characters, and the chemistry between Troy and Sawyer is off the charts. Thankfully, even though there were a lot of characters again, I found it easier this time around to follow along with the audio.

What I didn't like: The "bad guy" was almost laughable, and the stories are starting to really blend together with all their similarities. The series definitely needs an infusion of originality.

Bottom line, I really enjoyed the narration and the series is like crack - so very hard to put down.

Note: This is the fourth book in the Assassin/Shifter series, and I would not recommend trying to read it as a standalone.

AWESOME NARRATOR makes great story even better

This has always been one of my favorite A/S books and this recording has made it even better. Greg Boudreaux has captured the various personalities perfectly.

Great quick, fun read

I adored Ben and Mason. Oh and Lucas too. They were funny, lovable and real. At least to me they were (I have 2 friends just like them) I wasn't looking for "The Best Book I EVER read" when I got this, I was looking for a fun story with great characters and the authors really delivered in my opinion.

WHAT HAPPENED IN VEGAS, STAYS IN VEGAS....NOT!!!

Yet another winner from Audra Red! As the blurb implied, Benjamin,aka "BENNY", and best friend Lucas, who work together at "BENNY' s" father's firm, went to Vegas on business. Ben, going through issues with his girlfriend of two years, let loose and had sex with someone else, after many drinks. Waking up later, with no memory but seeing many used condoms, realized, he indeed cheated on his girlfriend.

Meeting with Lucas for breakfast, he soon put the pieces together and now knows it was with a man.

Days later, after proposing to his girlfriend, Mason, his Vegas, one-night-stand, showed up at his door. With many twist and turns, Audra sets in motion, a very well written romance. I laughed and cried throughout the entire book. I fell deeply in love with Mason and Ben and wanted them to have their HEA.

I absolutely hated Genevieve, I could not wait for her to go away. Audra is a wonderful author and she is now on my auto buy......Highly recommended.....Go get your copy!!!

Fun Read

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting and funny. I liked how you were able to see when each one fell for the other one. It was really a good book.

Just okay, but not worth $5

I was really excited to read this since it was co-written by Audra Red, who wrote the "Chalk Butterfly" trilogy (which I highly recommend if you like m/m romance that's not ALL sex). However, I felt differently during and after the reading. Ben was a complete doormat up until almost the very end, and in my opinion, Mason was on par with Ben's girlfriend, Genevieve. He was whiny, selfish, and manipulative. I never really felt like his feelings for Ben were true until the very end, and even then I don't know if it was love (on his part). And I don't know WHAT that was between Lucas and Laura. Not a terrible read, but I didn't feel too much for the characters.

A fun read

This was a fun read; it was like a fairy tale romance, but instead of castles & glass slippers there was drunken Vegas revelry.

Tara Lain has always been one of my favorite authors. I completely adore book one, Knight of Ocean Avenue, in her Love in Laguna series and have been a follower of the collection since my first taste. So, I was extremely excited to hear Ian was getting his own story in this fourth installment, Lord of a Thousand Steps.

Im also pretty vocal in my appreciation for K.C. Kellys fine voice and truly amazing narrations. He has done a brilliant job with the entire Love in Laguna series and his narrative of Lord of a Thousand Steps does not disappoint.

There are so many things to love about this story, but I do think its important to have read the previous books in the collection first as characters such as Jim and Ken feature quite prominently in this installment. Plus we get glimpses of Billy and Shaz (my personal favorite couple of the series) and even Ru and Grey.

Young Ian Carney is in love with his boyfriend of three years. Hes living with his brother Jim, and his fiance Ken, with his lovable sidekick cat aptly named Anderson, after Anderson Cooper (because of his white fur).

In his last year of architecture school, he has the dream internship of the century with the prestigious Lord and Kendrick architecture firm. One of the firms clients has taken a personal interest in him, due to his talent in design, and this puts Ian in close contact with his boss, Braden Lord.

Bradens personal life is a mess. Hes in the process of a messy divorce with a wife who is trying to do everything in her power to take their two kids away from him. On top of this hes finally taking the steps to be an out man and is venturing into the dating pool. Hes also taken an interest in Ian and cant seem to take his eyes off the young man.

A chance encounter at the beach between Ian, Braden and his kids sparks an instant familiarity between the two men. Bradens young son Jo-Jo especially takes to Ian. And young Mirelle is completely fascinated that Anderson - a cat - is at the beach.

Braden suddenly realizes that hes attracted to Ian but the eight year age difference is daunting. As well as the fact that hes Ians boss.

Ian soon comes to realize that the boyfriend he thought he loved, and planned a future with, has been lying to him all along. Poor Ian goes through some serious heartache in this story.

Not my favorite in the series

This is book three in a series and its a heartbreaking group of men BA Tortuga has given us.

We met Sage and Adam in book one and the hard, hard life Sage led, inspires him to help others, in this case, Dakota.

Dakota is a character that thoroughly smashed my heart to pieces. GAH! I cannot imagine living his life and yet hes still persevering and trying to live his life when I think many others would have given up. Hes an amazing character.

Jayden is a bit more difficult to pin down. Hes a lawyer, and in the beginning, hes only interested in Dakotas case because hes bored. Later, he admits to maintaining the research into the case because hes attracted to Dakota. At some point these feelings deepen, but I honestly think it was his lawyerly interest that drove this primarily.

I have to say that Im a big fan of this series and Id really, loved books one and two. I was looking forward to this once Id read the blurb because Ive seen how well BA Tortuga can handle broken men and turn them around.

Unfortunately, I was left a little bewildered by the end of this story.

What worked for me: Dakotas story. Its one of triumph, perseverance, strong-willed, growth, discovery and faith. If you read this as a story about a man leaving prison and re-discovering life who happens to be gay then I think this story works really well.

I also loved seeing the guys from books one and two. Its always nice seeing old MCs and following up in their lives again.

What didnt work for me was Jayden and the romance. Jayden never felt like he really connected with Dakota, or vice versa. Im just not sure how well they fit. The chemistry wasnt there nor was there more than just a friendship/lawyer connection. For the reasons given below and more, I just didnt feel their love like I had with other couples by this author.

The two dont have "relations" on page and what they do have is at the 98% point and I wonder if that was part of my disconnect. I really wanted to see how Jayden and Dakota managed to have sex given all of Dakotas issues.
