4.5 stars- Add some happy to your reading list

Another Dumb Jock is a standalone sequel which focuses on the teenage son of the main characters from the first book. Told from a single first person POV, their son is a jock who identifies as straight at the beginning of the book. As I didnt read the first book, I cant compare or contrast the stories but I like the idea of revisiting a couple and their children 20 years later.

The author does a fantastic job capturing the voice, thoughts, and emotional turmoil of a teenager without creating an immature character who simply frustrates me. The dialogue feels very age appropriate and there were plenty of moments that made me laugh out loud, both as a parent and from Adams perspective. The flow was perfect. It was an easy, faster read with a steady pacing that kept me engaged every time I listened. As well written as Adam is, the narrator delivers an equally fantastic performance that embodies Adams youthful voice. His tone, speed, and the emotion in his voice brings the characters to life making it a truly enjoyable listen.

I dont know that Id consider this a lighthearted book because the author does confront quite a few ugly truths in the world, particularly with LGBT youth. However, the overwhelming hopeful tone left me with a warm heart and huge smile. The familial and peer based conflicts were well developed and relatable for all readers with complete resolutions. I really loved seeing the support and strength of Adams family unit. His character growth throughout the book showcased the effect his familys bond had and his speeches brought tears to my eyes (happy tears). The romance in Another Dumb Jock is age appropriate, so youre not going to be listening to a lot of steamy scenes play out. Rather, Mr. Erno delivers a YA romance that will leave you with a full heart and wide smile. This is definitely a feel-good story Ill revisit when I need some happy in my day.

A little idealistic

Though I like these types of stories, and the narrator was good, the story just seemed a little too idealistic and simple in its characters.

Great narration, cute story!

I liked this a bit more than I liked book one. First, I thought it was great that Jeff and Brett spent time and really thought out the implications of raising kids. I think all couples should do that not just gay people! I loved that they had a plan and a way to handle sexuality as an issue no matter which way it fell. (Wouldnt that be great for all parents to do?!)

I thought Adam and Trevor were ridiculously sweet with one another and the fact that Adam is like Brett and Jeff is like Trevor but NOT was a nice take on the jock/nerd story.

Bittersweet , second chance at love story

Would you listen to Turning the Page again? Why?

I loved the story. I love second chances of any kind. I also liked the older man younger man but both were older more mature in age(50's and 40's.)

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved them all but I am torn between Malcomb and Hans. I loved Malcomb's accent that Jeff gave him. I also liked Malcomb's secretary how she so gently pushed him to move on and was a good friend to him.

Have you listened to any of Jeff Gelders other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this is the first but I loved his performance.

Malcomb is a tax attorney and in mourning from the death of his long-time love David. He doesn't want to let go.He meets Hans when he comes in as a client, but Malcomb meets him again after their business is completed one night when he is out ith his brother.

Hans is a famous author but doesn't go out much. He has been burned by a cheating lover and doesn't want to go through it again. He and Malcomb hit it off but there is a big age gap, and Hans is more active than Malcomb.

Turning the page is a touching story about a man that doesn't want to move on. When he meets Hans, he is torn in his emotions. He also feels that he is out of Hans league that Hans needs someone his age and that likes the same things.

There are several fantastic characters in the story. The plot is interesting as are the subplots. The small twist at the end adds some depth and action to the story.

If you like second chance at love, May/December romance, lawyers, authors and an allover beautiful romance this is a must read.

SOOOO worth the 4 book wait

I've been waiting to hear this story since I started listening to this series (not that long really, but you get my meaning). The whole Pretty Boy/Shep dance of "I want, but I shouldn't want" is torture. This is my first all Wen narrated book and it being one of those stories that you beg for is just wow. I've loved this entire series and it's just so yummy. I couldn't imagine these stories going any other way and the twists that are thrown in just make it all the better. There may have been a 4 book wait to hear the goings on of Shep and Pretty Boy but MAN was it SOOOO worth the wait and it just makes me want to hear about who's next in the club to get paired up.

Super hot

This is book 5 in the Horseman series and is a stand alone book with a wonderful HEA. I recommend this book to all MC lovers. Shepard and Pretty Boy finally get their story. The narrative is awesome, Wen does an amazing job of telling this story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Loved this book.

I read the book when it originally came out and have been waiting for the audio. This book is about Shep and Pretty Boy (Noah). Wow are thier paths twisted and intertwined. Any MC book that you read is usually homophobic..this one is a bit different. The 2 main characters have a past..a whole truck load. The author wrote this story with passion and truth. I loved seeing all the ways she brought them together to overcome the Mc and stero types. It was great catching up with previous characters and seeing what lies beyond. The narrator did a great job playing all the characters with different inflections in his voice to make you feel there were 2 separate people. I cant wait for the next book.

Awesome Story

Loved this book! Grabbed me and kept me coming back for more. Fell in love with the characters and felt every emotional up and down right along with them. Totally recommend this book!

Amazing! !!

I loved this book! The author knows how to give good story and make it hot. And with a narrator like that it's almost impossible to not love it. The Horsemen are a badass group of bikers and Shep and Pretty Boy are no exceptions. The journey these two go thru to be together is powerful and beautiful. I can't wait for then next go round.

I LOVED IT

This book was better than the first book. I loved it. The story had some humorous parts. The sex scenes were hot especially the one involving Rafe's Harley. Sometimes the lines got cross between Rafe and Colby on who was the Alpha, but it worked out. It was great catching up with Clint and Trevor again.

Great Book!

This book was sweet and romantic. A nice progression from friends to lovers. And gotta love some hot between the sheets loving.

Good story, not sold on the narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Everything Changes to be better than the print version?

I didn't read this one, perhaps I should though, because the story itself was more appealing than the narration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't pick just one, I really enjoyed both Carey and Jase. If I'm backed into a corner I'll Carey because of his resilience for what he's been through and his determination. I really felt for Jase though, after, you know.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Robert Nieman?

I would, yes. I've learned that with this narrator I either love his performance, or I don't, there's no in between. I think that maybe if he himself is more invested in the characters it seems to flow better. Perhaps he can relate more so to certain characters and stories.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The PTSD aspect of the story felt real, researched, accurate and heart breaking.

Any additional comments?

Loved the Gay for You aspect to the story, the early days of the relationship and the care taken when writing about Carey's PTSD. I didn't like it when Carey broke Jase's trust, the way he treated him at times and the flip from friends to lovers, then the betrayal, for some reason the story didn't feel as real to me anymore after that.

I usually don't re-read books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed both Jace and Kerry as characters. The felt real and true to me based on what they had both been through.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

In my opinion, Kerry's voice just didn't fit his personality. It sounded very soft and not at all like a straight wounded vet, but more like an out and proud gay man, especially during the sex scenes, sex scenes he was supposedly experiencing for the first time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. I listened to it in one hour increments during my morning runs.

Best written and orchestrated romance story I've ever read!!!

I will honestly say when I started this story I expected it to be a "burnin' up the sheets" story. Instead, it was a melt the heart and work the mind romance. True romance.

This book reminded me of the movie Romancing the Stone, only without the threat of mortal life. Though there was a threat to Dane's meaning of life. This book carried a great purpose. An adventure with two people trying to find the same person, Paul, for different reasons. Paul had touched both Dane and Jackson's life almost the same way. Brought them monetary gain and helped them become sucessful but neither men found success the way they had dreamed.

Dane's sucess was coming to an end if he couldn't find Paul. Dane starts this journey all by him self initially. He leaves California bound for Venice to find Jackson. THE photographer for Paul. Dane's hoping this will help him get a step closer in finding the man. Really, all it does is bring Jackson to his side and then the plot their next leg of this chase.

Brad's writing style is pretty much perfection and this story is truly genius. Five stars is not enough to explain the greatness of Apollo's Curse. Take away all your pre-conceived notions of romance novels and give this book a try. You won't be disappointed!!

A quest to save passion

Overall, I liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the actual writing of romance novels. The book is a romance but not in the traditional sense. Itâs a romance between a guy and his chosen career/passion: writing. So if youâre looking for a predominantly relationship romance, this is not it.

The protagonist, Dane, has always wanted to be a relevant author but is stuck in a humdrum job to meet the rent. He spends two years writing the âgreat American novelâ and self-publishes it. Practically no one reads it.

Four Stars

Normally you just feel aggression towards the bad guy. This bad guy makes you feel covered in his slime all the way throughh the book, making you wonder why Ethan and Max have anything to do with him. I'd have knocked him about at drinks and ignored his butt from that point. But that doesn't make a story. Good thing I'm not the author. The guy is icky.

Hot Dang!!!

That was absolutely beautiful. I like to see Ethan and Max have a little trouble only to come out in the end stronger than ever. But the only thing I wish is that Ethan would tune down his over active limbo. Max is truley an awesome man but he needs to come out of the close for his sake as well as Ethan. This by far was the best story. This author is a spectacular writer. I love how she weaves this story over nine books and so far there all good. It's usually hard to find that in a long series. Great work Tricia! On to the last book; maybe not, hopefully.

Christmas love story

Love in all its uncertainties during the Christmas season is well handled and well told in this short novel. A few minor details didn't suit me, but I enjoyed the love story and well developed characters. A well flowing story with a good ending that suited the characters.

Review: Cole in His Stocking, by Nya Rawlyns

2.5/5 stars

Leading into the last months of the year, I tend to lean toward holiday-related stories. Thatâs one of the reasons I gave this one a shot. Itâs also an M/M romance. Being that I want my holiday reading to be more diverse than in the past, this was a great choice for me.

But, as you see from my rating, this story didnât shine through for me as much as I had hoped. It has a great premise. And to quote the description âThereâs no place more festive, more glorious than the Big Apple during the Holidays,â maybe I held it up to those words too much. One of the main things I felt hurt the story was the way the point of view was written. Itâs a third person story, told from both Cole and Jakeâs points of view. While this is normal, I didnât feel that the switching between the two was balanced enough with the telling of the story, nor were the transitions always very smooth.

Along with that, I think the characters were too inside their own heads for the reader to see the full story, the full relationship blooming. It was slightly a case of telling more than showing due to this. It also didnât give way to much in the way of showing a âfestiveâBig Apple.â I felt the holiday aspect was lost to being a mere mention.

Even though I didnât feel emotionally involved in the relationship, the characters, and their issues, there was early promise with this novella. Maybe it needed to stick to following one characterâs POV. Maybe it just needed more room to flesh itself out and not be bogged down inside of the menâs heads. It wasnât totally put off of reading Rawlyns again. The author is good with her words, when looking closer at a sentence. Iâm hoping other works could suit my tastes better.

A Story of Christmas Love, a Story to Relish.

I love it when Nya Rawlyns shows us a side of her writing we don't always see. Her usual style is very visceral, pulling no punches and letting her characters as well as the readers get tossed around by life. Since this is a Christmas read, it's lighter, though that doesn't mean fluff. Rawlyns could perhaps write a paragraph of fluff, but nothing longer than that. I'd imagine even her grocery lists are hard-hitting. Cole and Jake are complex men in a complicated situation.

Great narration, which somewhat made up for the OTT drama and ridiculous, at times, scenarios.

But it was a fun listen, fits in well with the series so far, and is a little bit like a bag of chips...you only mean to eat a few, but the next thing you know, you look down and the bag is gone.

I absolutely LOVE Sean's voice for Jack. I listened to this in one sitting, and enjoyed it all. Anyone who loves the series should grab the audio - Sean is wonderful.

Didn't read it, loved the audio though.

Again, Jack, I love how patient he is with Riley while he continues to adjust to all the extreme changes in his life.

Jack, see above. I also love the sexy cowboy drawl Crisden uses for Jack.

Great series from an amazing author brought to life with fantastic narration!

I loved it.

Texas Winter is the second book in this series. I enjoy it because both of the characters are Strong, Wow Awesome (memorable) well-developed and interesting . Conflicts are credible, and the reader can easily imagine him/herself standing in the background reporting each adventure.

More fantastic drama!

And the drama continues!! Jack and Riley are back! Theyre married and still in love but the hits keep comin!

Without telling all the secrets, I can tell you that there are: marriages, babies, a shooting, the FBI, and even more all in this relatively short story!

If you enjoyed book one, youll love seeing what these guys have gotten into now, and if you havent read book one, this will not make any sense ;)!

I love that the relationship is never in jeopardy, and that with each new dramatic event the two men grow closer. I also loved seeing the more family side of Riley. The smexy times are hot! I love how they keep score as to which persons turn it is to top! Super funny and sexy, too.

I think I enjoyed this even more as an audiobook Sean Crisden gives this that extra layer of emotion to really draw you into the story. His voices and characterizations are just as good as book one and I think this is the best way to enjoy this series!
