    Title: The Worst Best Man

Length: 5 hrs and 27 mins
    Language: English

    Publisher's Summary:
It was her special day...but his worst nightmare.
A rekindled romance wasn't part of the plan.
Despite his American background, August O'Leary is the most sought-after wedding planner in London. Naturally, Libby and Edward come to him for a wedding the city will never forget. But Edward is an international businessman, so the details are left to Libby and her best friend - who happens to be the love of August's life and the one who broke his heart eight years ago: Christopher Burke.
How's August supposed to pull off the event of the year with Christopher distracting him and old feelings crashing the party uninvited?
Christopher has let money and status dictate his life, but no more. His failure to stand up to others' expectations cost him his future with August - one he hoped would include marriage. Now he has to face August's hurt and anger and prove he's still the best man to make August happy.

    Second chance romance
    Any additional comments?
August O'Leary, originally from Massachusetts, went to college in England, fell deeply in love with Christopher Burke, spent three blissful years together, then got dumped - badly - because Christopher wouldn't stand up to his parents.
Eight years later, August works as a high-end event planner in London and the story begins when his newest client, Libby, walks in with her best friend - Christopher Burke, the man who shattered August's heart.
This is a second chance romance, and while I normally like the trope, for me, I have to believe that the party who "wronged" the other is actually sorry and makes a real effort to make amends. I did not find that to be the case here. Christopher makes all the same mistakes the second time around, and some new ones, and I felt like his "grand gesture" was just an easier way of continuing to not have to introduce August into his world and really make a stand.
I love Dorian Bane's deeper voice, and his narration was smooth for the most part, but I didn't enjoy most of his character accents. I liked his character voice for August (Dorian does a good job with the Boston accent and the dropping of the "r"), but his UK accents were hard for me to keep up with. I found myself having to replay some of the same conversations two or three times to understand what the characters were saying.
While not being able to follow along easily with much of the narration didn't help, my disappointment comes mainly by the fact that I was maddened by much of the story. While I liked August, and his friends, I really, really didn't like Christopher, and that pretty much ruined the whole romance for me. I spent most of my time wishing for someone else to come and sweep August off his feet so he could tell Christopher to go stuff it.
Overall this just didn't personally work for me.

    Publisher's Summary:
Tyler and Aiden are boyfriends living in 1950s America. They're gay and proud, but not exactly out. Most of the people in their small Ohio town know that they're more than just roommates, and most people are willing to look the other way. But that doesn't mean the two men are living in domestic bliss. There's still the bricks through their window, and drunkards looking for a fight on their front porch.
There are stresses more personal in nature in play a well. Aiden and Tyler seem to be growing bored. Their conversations are short and tense, their lovemaking purely physical. And then, an answer: The Black Room.
It's a club for people like them. A club where gay men and women can go and be themselves, without fear from the outside world. It's a club where they can drink, and dance. It's a club with a long hallway, with bedrooms on either side. Through the blue doors, you can have a private evening. Go into a bedroom with a red door however...and others may join you. Tyler and Aiden find the spice their crumbling relationship needs, but will The Black Room bring a set of brand new problems?
Disclaimer: this is a very hot and steamy book for a mature audience only.

John Harris has done it again with this interesting twist on long term secret gay love and how to bring the excitement back.
This is a really great Midwestern view of a gay couple trying to get by in the 1950's gay and proud but not out. This very realistic representation of gay life at that time in history will have you going back in time and living with Tyler and Aiden with their trials and tribulations of that era. They are in a long term relationship and are in a rut until one of their friends tells them about "The Black Room". A place that their kind can go and be themselves as long as they know the password to get in. Once they are in The Black Room they find a relaxing and sexually charged place that they can be themselves, dance the night away, and have all of the sex they want with each other, privately or with an audience, or with anyone else. What they decide to do you will have to read but I can tell you that it is an erotic and exciting adventure that will have you wanting more and more.
    The Black Room
What can I say, in the beginning of the book, I was disappointed, because it was sad and I didn't want to go down that road. As you might know, this Author has a way of preforming magic and he did! There were lots of excitement, lots of drama, sexy screens and romance! A must read, written by a wonderful Author. Many thanks, Honey Bee
A couple very much in love at a time when they couldn't be public about ...
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book. A couple very much in love at a time when they couldn't be public about it. The bias, fear and hate for gays at that time was something they lived with daily. Very emotional story and made me sad that you can't live your life without fear of retaliation. Love the story and the couple. Wonderfully written.
    Really enjoyable
This was an interesting story. A gay couple in the 50's and how they have to struggle in their lives and find their love again. A very good story but there were some editing mistakes.
    A great book
I loved this book. It's set in the 1950's where you had to hide. The Hate was all around. It was a well written book, I loved the characters.

    Disappointed
I do admit I was a little glazed over following the story. It was a nice sequel to book one but could've been better.
    A great third act
I have to be honest, when I went into this book and saw that the perspective had shifted from Dr. Kate Morrison to Sergeant Andy Wyles, I was a bit worried. I love Dr. Kate Morrison. I love her point of view, I love her lack of self-preservation, and I loved watching her navigate her way through the daunting realization of a first love with a woman.
    I shouldn't have worried.
In my love for Dr. Kate Morrison, I'd not considered how much I adored Andythe no-nonsense way she handles her life, the way she lives by a strict code, and the way Kate completely got to her and made her re-examine so many of her "rules." So, stepping into Andy's point of view was a blessing, especially given how we left the pair in the previous book, Pathogen.
Much like Trigger, the first book in the series, the main narrative is the mystery to this thriller, and in this case it strikes close to home for Andy, who is tasked with uncovering what's going on with a troop of RCMP cadets who are in danger of washing out if they don't come clean about what it is that's going on amongst them.
Andy sets up a remote setting: a camp of small cabins she borrows from a retired friend, and alongside some of the troop's instructors, she tries to uncover the mystery. When the medic of the bunch is replaced after a couple of days with Dr. Kate Morrison, her love life and the mystery she's facing threaten to split her attention.
Webb delivers what I now know is her typical snarl of characters with complex motivations, and the mystery is a tough nut to crack. The clues are there in retrospect (and I felt rather clever for catching one of them, though I had no idea what it meant at the time). The journey is satisfying, and for those who have wondered about Dr. Kate and Sergeant Andy from the get-go, the resolution of their relationship status is within this book.
I should mention I listened to this one on audiobook, and it was performed, like the other two, by Ruby Rivers. Unfortunately, this book, like the second, contained a lot of Canadian references, and Ruby Rivers sort of mangles the language. For example, Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan, is pronounced as "Ruh-gene-uh." French Canadian names get the same cringeworthy treatment. It's unfortunate, but I imagine non-Canucks won't find it quite so troublesome.
    Outstanding
Once again Kate and Andy do not disappoint I love them working together being together and enjoying their life together. Hope there is a book 4 in the works.
    Awesome book
    Great book.

    Publisher's Summary:
What doesn't kill you sometimes makes you wish it had....
Priddy's a lost soul in a part of Cornwall the tourists don't get to see. He's young, sweet-natured, and gorgeous, but that's not enough to achieve escape velocity from his deadbeat village and rotten family life.
He's a drifter and a dreamer, and self-preservation isn't his strong suit. An accidental overdose of a nightclub drug leaves him fractured, hallucinating, with too many vital circuits fried to function in a tough world. When a friend offers him winter work in a lighthouse - nothing to do but press the occasional button and keep the windows clean - he gratefully accepts.
His plans to live quietly and stay out of trouble don't last very long. A ferocious Atlantic storm washes a stranger to Priddy's lonely shore. For a shipwrecked sailor, the new arrival seems very composed. He's also handsome as hell, debonair, and completely unconcerned by Priddy's dreadful past.
Priddy has almost given up on the prospect of any kind of friendship, and a new boyfriend - let alone a six-foot beauty with eerily good swimming skills - out of the question entirely. But Merou seems to see undreamed-of promise in Priddy, and when they hit the water together, Priddy has to adapt to Merou's potentials too, and fast. His lover from the sea might be a mere mortal from the waist up, but south of that line....
Far-flung west Cornwall has 100 mermaid tales. Priddy's loved the stories all his life. Now he has to face up to a wildly impossible truth. Merou's life depends upon his courage and strength, and if Priddy can only find his way in the extraordinary world opening up all around him, all the ocean and a human lifetime needn't be enough to contain the love between merman and mortal.

    Narrator made this even better!
I enjoyed this, but, like with a lot of Fox's books I found myself somewhat lost in the folklore. I wish she'd focus less on that because I do love her characters, but I some times lose them in the details that I don't find as interesting. Still this was lovely and I was a bit teary by the end.
Audio was outstanding, I will be looking for more from this narrator.
    A love tail
Whimsy tales or tails, beautiful writing, lovely narrating and a grand HEA one could ask for. Always the very best if everything with Harper Fox!
    Delightful, imaginative tale
Harper writes about the mystical like no one else. This is a charming tale, written so beautifully you find yourself believing in mermen and magic. The narration is also well done. Do yourself a favor, buy the book & audio and sit back and enjoy.
    Intriguing story, great narration.
I think the narration made this a better experience than if I had just read it. I did find the story intriguing (this was my first merman), but ultimately something was lacking - I didn't feel he was Merou's one true love based on Merou's past. I liked that this was included in the Romance Package, I wouldn't have picked it otherwise and definitely want to read/listen to more if Megan Fox's work!
    Loved it
Excellent tale of a young, damaged man finding love from an unlikely place. It's a very well narrated whimsical, humorous story. Chris Clog did a great job with the accents, especially the Cornish burr.
Definitely recommend this story and audiobook.

How to get over someone? Get under someone else - as soon as possible.
Vincent Lim always assumed his best friend (and occasional hookup) Austin would be waiting for him - that eventually they'd end up together. But now that Austin's in love with another man, Vinnie is at a loss.
After the world's most awkward one-night stand with a dance major, Vinnie knows the drill. Minimize the embarrassment by pretending they've never met. Yet Bryan's vibrant spirit and calm center lure Vinnie like a shelter from an emotional storm.
But Vinnie's thrown off his game by the rest of Bryan's total package. Vinnie's a rowing jock with a single-minded focus on living up to his parents' academic and social expectations. Bryan might as well be outfitted with glittery butterfly wings - with plenty of pride to match. Vinnie's haphazard attention to a lover won't cut it this time.
Physically, they can match each other stroke for booty pop. But for the lovers to meet on common ground, they'll have to find a way to get moving in the same direction.
Warning: Contains one uptight rower, a dancer who can rock a skirt like nobody's business, yoga lessons, and the benefits of being very bendy.

Great series, great narrator! Love Bryan!
This is book 7 in the series, but really you only need to read book 6. (The rest of the series is awesome, though, so ya know)
We met Vinnie in Book 6 he was the boy Austen was pining and pining after. Well after being summarily dumped by Austen, Vinnie goes on a bender and meets Bryan.
Though their first meeting was less than great, both men realize they want to see more of the other although Vinnie is clearly on probation as he nearly says and does all the wrong things.
Over time not unlike Austen and Sean Vinnie is spending more and more time with Bryan, until its clear that Bryan means a lot to Vinnie. The problem is Vinnie lacks the ability to say his feelings in a way that doesnt offend.
    **
I loved Bryan and Vincent together. I would really have loved to spend more time in Bryans head as he was clearly a very complex and fascinating person and we didnt get to see nearly enough of him to satisfy.
The fact that these 21 year olds were so great at communicating with one another was a breath of fresh air especially after all the nonsense between Austen and Vinnie previously.
I was also glad to see that the parents werent going to be a big deal.
All in all this was a very sweet and sometimes funny story and a great way for us to see Vinnie all set up and happy.

I really enjoyed this sweet read
I really enjoyed this sweet read. It was not a normal steamy kind of love but just as good. I believe it was well written and super sweet. The perfect kind of sweet consuming love. I really loved Julian and Cade's connection. I could feel it at the beginning. Good read. I also fell in love with Julian's grandpa. I received and voluntarily read this ARC.
Another sweet story from Devyn Morgan
Another sweet story from Devyn Morgan. I had to sigh and laugh with Cade and Julian, who are fighting injuries and attraction. Should they? Shouldn't they? Can they? (I don't know a lot about piercings but reading this made me believe that someone needed a bag of peas and someone else provided them.) These guys had a lot to learn from each other, about accepting help. And it was cute, because each of them was so strong in some areas and needed a hand so bad in others. Lighthearted happy read. With horses.
    Great Book!!!
I loved reading Cherry Blossoms by Devyn Morgan. I loved how shy and reserved Julian is and how much he blushes. Cade was great also. He tries to do everything on his own and hates asking for help. Julian is from Texas where everybody loves to ride, and so did Julian when he was a teenager before he developed a fear of heights. His grandfather brought him a year's worth of riding lessons to help him get over his fear. Cade has an English riding stable and has suffered a nasty fall and broken some ribs. He isn't able to do any of the chores around the ranch and has limited funds to hire somebody to help while he heals. He is ecstatic when he has someone buy a years worth of riding lessons and pays in advance. Cade and Julian have instant chemistry but due to Cade's injuries can't do anything about it. I loved all of the sexual tension and couldn't wait for Cade's ribs to heal. The story was well-written, and the plot and characters were nicely developed, but the book needs to be edited. There were missing words and extra words and switched words, and Julian and Cade's names kept getting switched, which is always annoying. As this is an arc copy that I read, I am hoping that it went to an editor before it was released. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
    Review of "Cherry blosssoms"
This was a lighthearted read about Julian and Cade. Both men are yearning for something, but feel they will never find it. Julian is terrified of heights and being on a horse is just about the last thing he wants to do.

    .
What made the experience of listening to Winter Ball the most enjoyable?
Nick Russo's narration, of course. Having not read the book, I can't compare the two, but I was completely engaged with this story from the first minute to the last.
What did you like best about this story?
It was a different approach for these two supposedly straight guys to become intimate and not question that intimacy. Rather, one questions the validity, if it's just because or if it's something more permanent. And one worries about backlash from his family.
Have you listened to any of Nick J. Russos other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I have, love his work. This book is as good as any other performances of his I've listened to.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, there weren't really any laugh out loud or tear jerker moments. It was a fantastic story though and I quite liked it.
    Any additional comments?
I do love friends to lovers and gay for you type stories, and this book qualifies under both of those sub-genres. But then it has the equal balance of angst and emotion I've come to expect from Amy Lane. I will say, this story is somewhat tame compared to the usual intense stories Lane likes to churn out.
    Friends to Lovers
    Any additional comments?
Cute, not a lot of angst, friends to lovers romance told completely from Skipper's POV.
I actually read/listened to this after I listened to Summer Lessons, and I was surprised this didn't have the same amount of humor. It's more of a gentle romance, which was still nice, don't get me wrong, but I suppose I probably should have listened to this first, then book two.
Regardless, I enjoyed both Nick J. Russo's narration and the story a lot.
I am loving the series and look forward to reading more.
Recommended. (But definitely listen to this one first!)
Fun, sweet, light - fantastic narration!
Amy Lane LITE! I love it when Amy writes about two guys just figurin stuff out!. Yes, Amy is the queen of Angst. Yes, I love those books too. But wow I just love her lite stories because I can read them and laugh and love and not need to recover!
    Skipper and Richie are buds.

When she loses her job as a heavy equipment operator, she'll accept one that'll force her to step way outside her comfort zone into a life where nothing is, as it seems. Having caught next to no breaks in life, it may turn out to be her break of a lifetime.
When Coy quits her job to accept a position in Antarctica, her path will cross with Coby's. Their attraction to one another will be immediate, and despite their differences, it won't be long before they fall in love. But for these two, with all their baggage, will love be enough?

I would give it 10 stars, if I could.
Would you listen to Blue Ice Landing again? Why?
Already restarted it, because I know it will be just as good the second time as the thirtieth.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Coby, because I could relate to her struggle.
What does Emily Beresford bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
I have read the book, and gave it 5 stars.....but Ms. Beresford takes it to a new level. Am going to look into other books she was recorded.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Coy told Coby the truth.
    Any additional comments?
This is an amazing story, whether you read it or listen to it. I think this is one of Ms.Moll's best works. This one is worth every dollar you spend.
    A Sweet, Emotional Romance
A sweet, romance with a couple of character surprises to keep you entertained.
If you are looking for the story of two women with hangups who find love then this is the story for you.
    Cringe worthy
A good enough story but lousy execution.
The narration was nothing less than irritating - I so wish narrators wouldn't try accents. in this one, Diego the Mexican was more Diego the Russian.
Coy is appalling - passive aggressive and manipulative. Oh, poor ol', little ol', whimpering me.
Colby is more likeable. But I can't decide if the author or the narrator failed to deliver the flawed but fighting Butch an authentic voice. We are told she is butch but, until she carries some shopping, we see no evidence of it.
The time on Antarctica is brief and, bluntly, we could have been anywhere for all the felt sense the reader gets of this fascinating and amazing place.
    So, No. Not recommended.
