  • An Ignite Moment - PBD with Sam Humphrey

    Description:

    Purpose by Design welcomes an amazing guest: Sam Humphrey - a New Zealand-born 27 year-old actor, humanitarian, upcoming producer and strong man of faith. You may recognize him from the Greatest Showman movie with Hugh Jackman - but he’s so much more than an actor. Sam has so much insight to teach and such an inspiring story. He resides in California and has fought through so much which he tells us about today.

    Sam has persevered through many struggles in his life, starting at birth (something he has coined ‘a rare-ability’) called Acrodysplasia: a non common congenital malfunction syndrome which usually results in short limbs among other abnormalities. Because of having this - Sam was very critical of himself, and even fell into a deep depression. God had plans for this young man - and by his grace Sam’s multiple suicide attempts failed. Plus: Sam has lived 11 years past what doctors guessed. He Is A MIRACLE❣

    Sam now advocates for people who are going through depression or having suicidal thoughts and encourages anyone who is dealing with this - to reach out to him on his Instagram page. Sam is in the process of starting his website and non profit: The Little Guy: Standing Up for the Little Guys - an organization here to give encouragement and give a community for people to unite together in this messy world. The Little Guy will go live in August however you can check out the official Instagram page below.

    He shares his faith in God and also teaches us about self-love and self affirmation. Sam talks about how he got into acting and how he had to change his mindset from fearing failure to intent to succeeding. Once he made that mindset shift - everything changed. Sam celebrates everything in his life and thanks God for his blessings - something we can all learn from.

    Purpose by Design welcomes Adonis Anderson - our youngest guest to date but so very wise and has such a bright future ahead. He is a 19-year old man with a vision. Adonis is venturing to always be the next best version of  himself.

    Adonis aspires to be a motivational speaker, just finished his freshman year of college and is an athlete. His inspiring message is…. "choose to make your day great even though circumstances don’t always line up." Each and every one of us has the choice to decide our day is going to be wonderful! It’s not our circumstances that choose - it’s how we handle them.

    I met Adonis through The Power Voice with Les Brown and we are now both part of Thinking Into Results with Jon Talarico as our results coach. Where I get the privilege of being his Mindset Mentor

    Adonis tells us about his personal struggles, and how he persevered through bullying and adversity. He started basketball at a young age and to this day enjoys making swishes on the court. Adonis received a basketball scholarship from the school he is attending currently but is in the process of transferring somewhere else - waiting on direction where that will be.

    He shares about his future ambition to be a fitness and health trainer as well as a motivational speaker. Adonis has made sure to take advantage of opportunities God has graced him with.  He  will empower you to believe in yourself first and the importance of investing in yourself - as that is where the journey begins. He shares that if you put money towards yourself, that money will come back ten-fold.

    Our guest grew up in the streets of Compton, California
    - a city known for its violence and gangs. Salvador explains what it was like growing up
    in such a city and the troubles that came its way. He tells us about his
    powerful near-death experience and how God gave him wisdom that he was not
    going to die at that moment. This experience was a pivotal point in his life
    where Salvador chose to change his ways for good. He went to prison where a
    godly inmate was divinely used to bring Salvador
    to Christ.

    Purpose by Design welcomes Yashica Mack - a powerhouse southern woman who has so much knowledge to impart into you! Yashica is a mother of three wonderful children, owns her own business: Sheka B & Associates, and has a nonprofit called Mackhouse Charities. She served her country in the army and worked many jobs. Yashica obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology as well as a master's degree in Counseling for Psychology.
    This podcast is more focused on Yashica's journey as a parent and a woman of faith, however. She had to persevere through far more than the average person. In 2010, her husband was diagnosed with ALS disease and passed away. Shortly after she began having challenges with her daughter, who would run away for days at a time. Yashica shares how her daughter's struggle stemmed from with mental illness. Controlling situations was always natural to Yashica until she pleaded with God one fateful day when she got the news that her son got into a bad car-accident. Hear how her faith and Heaven showed up! What could only have been an angel intervened and saved his life.
