Hello my name is Stargirl from Chicago, people would consider me a “look” queen when it comes to my drag but I refer to my drag as club fantasy a mix between a. whimsical and kawaii aesthetic. I’ve been in the Chicago drag scene for 3 years and drag and art has been my greatest accomplishment I’ve accomplished in my life. My art and drag is my passion and my drive and I’m really proud of the obstacles and success I’ve accomplished from starting at the bottom to now, the art of drag is something beyond and beautiful.

Stargirl

"Mick is my imagination come to life but always within the realm of masculinity. He began as a frat boy type but as I learned about toxic masculinity, I began to make a conscious effort to change Mick to instead focus on other aspects of “being a guy” and exploring pop culture references.

I was raised Protestant. Specifically, my family was Methodist until I was 14, at which time we joined the Presbyterian Church USA. I served as an elder and a deacon in PCUSA, and my mom became a lay pastor for the church. My mom had her own congregation for years until she moved away from our hometown in northern Minnesota. My mom currently works as a Christian education coordinator for a Methodist church. My little sister is active in the Presbyterian Church and has served missions overseas. Nowadays, I have come to discover that I’m not a Christian. While I appreciate the lessons of the faith, I have found my personal beliefs lie closer to a hybrid of Buddhism and Taoism. I have been studying the Tao since 2013 and Buddhism since 2018."

In each conversation B0NNi33 Vi0L3T will guide a conversation around drag & spirituality, with drag artists of a variety of spiritual experience, gender, race, age, sexual orientation, size, ability, and styles of drag. Ultimately lacing drag narratives with a spiritual thread for the benefit of the artist and the audience that bears witness.

Urban Village Church

Sister Merry Peter, SPI, is an activist nun raising joyful resistance who found her vocation through the Radical Faeries in 1987 and served as a missionary in Toronto before moving to San Francisco in 1999. Her life-long activism focuses on HIV-AIDS, queer youth, civil rights and social justice. As a divinity student, she co-founded the first LGBT Student Union at the University of Toronto and led a successful national campaign against conversion therapy in Canada. Her efforts include partnerships to provide street-level health services to sex workers, legal aid for LGBTQIA+ refugees and resistance to police violence. She is a poet, writer and former sex-worker. As an ordained minister, she joined the fight for equal marriage in San Francisco in 2004 and regularly performs wedding ceremonies. She lives on the coast with her husband of 21 years.

Glide

Syzygy’s drag is a balancing of the feminine and the masculine, an alignment of celestial bodies, a union of opposites. Their current spiritual practice takes the form of a ritual sunset tea party drag show. In the liminal time of golden hour, a non-binary time between day and night, we can use transformation, music, and movement to open windows into a liberated queer future.

Hennessy Williams is a genderqueer drag performer who loves all things vintage, goth, western, and genderfuck. They love to use drag to pay homage to their culture and also to question and challenge one's perceptions of what it means to be queer, Asian, American, and all of the above. Drag is how they express themselves artistically and also a form of healing in which they engage with their past, trauma, and identities - everything from being an abuse survivor to a former religious kid.
