Welcome back to Dragon’s Demize, listeners! On today’s episode, we’re reviewing one of Jakub’s long-time favorites: In The Name Of Odin. In this card-based game of Viking conquest, players have to manage their ships, heroes, and vikings in order to conduct succesful raids. Each action card has multiple uses, so carefully balancing your available resources is an important part of a winning strategy. Check out the review for our full thoughts!
We also talk about what we’ve been playing lately. This list is a little light this time, but Greg did try out Nemo’s War and has plenty to say about it!
Thank you as always to O Abnormal and Agata Poniatowski for the artwork and Strangelette for the music. Hello listeners! We’re excited to bring you a new style of episode today. We had a lot of fun breaking down what was good or not in co-op games, so we decided to expand on that format! On the first ever Good, Bad, and Ugly, we tackle Dungeon Crawlers. Games like Zombicide, Gloomhaven, and others where you control individual characters moving around a map are frequently refered to as “dungeon crawlers.” But what about these games do people find compelling? What makes them frustrating? Join us and find out on today’s episode!
As usual, we also talk about what we’ve been playing. This week, wwe talk about our recent SeaFall and Gloomhaven streams, plus a round of Mystic Vale.

Hello listeners! On today’s episode, Jakub and Greg review Reef, the new abstract pattern-building game from Emerson Matsuchi. Players use cards to collect coral and score points based on the patterns that appear in their reef. Since the cards that gain you coral are the same ones that score points, you have to make sure to play them as efficiently as possible in order to win. It’s a fun, colorful game that’s good for all ages. Check out our full review for more details!
We also talk about What We’ve Been Playing lately. We’ve got several new ones to discuss this week, including the chaotic goodness of Potion Explosion and When I Dream. The recently popular Massive Darkness also rates a mention.

On today’s RPG-focused episode, Greg and Jakub shine a light on one of the less popular adventure settings: swamps. Everybody’s seen the standard Tolkein-esque campaign on the plains and in the forest. Ports and mountins get their hare of love too. But what about swamps? Join us as we examine some of the fantastic things you can do here, from unconventional cityscapes to unsettling monsters.
We also talk about What We’ve Been Playing lately, including Spirit Island (of course) and the latest Gloomhaven stream.

Welcome back listeners! We’re back to the reviews this week, with a look at Warsaw: City of Ruins. In Warsaw, 2-4 players attempt to build the highest scoring district within the titular city. Along the way, they’ll construct theaters and parks, compete for public buildings, and weather two World Wars. While drafting and tile-placement are the core mechanics, some of the supporting mechanics like tile destruction and overbuilding really make the game shine. Check out the full review to really understand what I mean!
We also bring you Tales from the Tabletop. The tiny tabletop, that is! With WashingCon just behind us, Greg and Jakub recount their Tiny Dungeon adventures.

Howdy listeners! If you’re anything like us, you just spent the past 48 hours hanging out with some awesome board gamers at WashingCon 2018! As always, we had a blast and we’re super excited to bring you a rundown from the convention. There were classic events like Two Rooms and a Boom, exciting new activities like Tiny Dungeon, and plenty of board gaming, though not as much as we might have liked. We also had a chance to sit down for more Jenga interviews, so be on the lookout for those later this week!
Huge shoutout to all of the amazing volunteers who make WashingCon happen. It literally is all because of you all. Big shoutout as well to the awesome game designers who we met, including Victoria and Alex, designers of Gladius, and Omari Akil from Board Game Brothas. They’ve got some incredible games that you won’t want to miss.
