We talk about how we use social media to share our art and our lives, what strategies we have found helpful, and how we get inspired by other artists. Today we’re talking about a topic suggested by you, our listeners, and it’s veganism! We are both very passionate about being vegan and could talk about it forever, so this one’s a super-size episode. We share how each of us became vegan, how our experience with veganism has been (the good and the bad), and how funny and silly some comments we have gotten over the years are. And of course enthuse about our fave vegan treats! This week’s episode has been pre-recorded, so we did not have a chance to express our solidarity with the protests currently happening in the US and globally following George Floyd’s murder. As white people we feel it’s important to not stay silent. Instead we need to educate ourselves and each other and actively support black communities, and we would like to encourage you friends to do that too. We have shared some resources in our instagram stories on how you can help, and they will be saved in highlights. Also this article is a good resource: https://www.thecut.com/2020/06/george-floyd-protests-how-to-help-where-to-donate.htmlToday's episode is a continuation from last week, so if you haven’t listened to episode 5, be sure to do that first! We chat with illustrator and creative-all-arounder Apila Pepita about covering feminist and LGBTQ+ topics in personal art and how that can influence your creative career. We also share our heartwarming pet stories! Follow Apila on instagram @apilapepita and on twitter @apilapepita . Also visit Apila's tattoo account on instagram @apilatattoo .We also have a few announcements. Due to the current situation with the pandemic and having to isolate, we are unfortunately not able to meet and record video episodes, so for the time being we will do it in audio-only format. We are recording in our own homes with separate setups, so the sound quality is going to be a bit different for the two of us, since we are talking to each other on video call. Please bear with us as we make it work given the current situation. We will return to filming video episodes as soon as we can meet in person again. Now to the good news! We’re now on Patreon! This week we got together with illustrator, comic book artist, tattoo artist, teacher and all-around-what-HAVEN’T-they-done creative professional Apila Pepita to pick their brain about how to publish your own books and comics, how to build the perfect portfolio, and their experience of working in commercial illustration, and so much more! OMG what is my drawing style?? One of the most frequent questions we get asked is how to find your own illustration style. This week we attempted to answer this question, as well as talked about our own drawing styles and how they’ve changed over time. That got us wondering: how important is having a style, anyway??We also have a few announcements. Due to the current situation with the pandemic and having to isolate, we are unfortunately not able to meet and record video episodes, so for the time being we will do it in audio-only format. The pressure to be productive is real! In this episode, we share our own experiences with productivity, and wonder whether the demand to be as productive as possible is actually bs. This period of self-isolation has allowed a lot of people to re-think their priorities, including how they spend their time. Is there more to life than productivity? (hint: YES!)We also have a few announcements. Due to the current situation with the pandemic and having to isolate, we are unfortunately not able to meet and record video episodes, so for the time being we will do it in audio-only format.
