Show Notes: "HEROINEBURGH" is a live-action episodic video series and a comic book series (and created in that order). The stories are about a universe of superpowered females in a fantastical version of Pittsburgh. It's adventure, drama, comedy and romance, all in the finest spandex and capes, and the comic book art is classic Bronze Age- with some modern computer coloring. The videos are available for download from their website- Heroineburgh.com, and the comics are on sale in over 150 stores nationwide and at their many comic con and comic shop appearances. In this episode I talk with the mysterious Mr. H about the world of HEROINEBURGH, creating comics and shooting video in the Steel City, plus swap some stories about his connection to the Memphis music scene. Winston Gambro is a graphic designer by day, and comic creator by night. He’s created the comedy webtoon "Gumshoe City", which has detective Meatball Matthews journeying out of his element when his best friend disappears and leaves behind a dead body; his online cyberpunk mystery  "Overflow", that has Ava Lee, a private detective attempting to prove her brother didn't commit a war crime and possibly stop the end of the world; and his anthology comic series "Rex Radley: Boy Adventurer", an all ages book that was inspired by every awesome cartoon made to sell toys (and was successfully backed by two Kickstarter campaigns). Show Notes: Since many folks are heading to cons again or are gearing up to, I thought I'd share some thoughts on setting up at and/or attending conventions. I've been doing it off and on since the early '90s, as an attendee, artist guest, volunteer, con staff, organizer- at one time doing a con a month or every other month..! I've stopped setting up as an artist/guest or putting on shows, but still love attending cons. There's lots more I could have put into this episode, but figured this one was long enough at 45min. Plus, I remembered a few extras after I had edited it..D'oh! So, maybe I'll do a follow up episode after attending a few post-pandemic events. We talked about what it's like to live with an artist like me- the pros and cons, and being a spouse of a pro at cons. Show Notes: On this episode I talk to Little Deaths creator and Texas transplant - David Doub. David is the founder of Dusk Comics. His numerous publications include Dusk, Miss Tilney, Forever, Mystery Masque, and the upcoming Little Deaths. According to the interwebs, "La petite mort" (the little death), is an expression which means "the brief loss or weakening of consciousness" and in modern usage refers specifically to "the sensation of post orgasm as likened to death." The term "la petite mort" does not always apply to sexual experiences. It can also be used to describe a weakening or loss of consciousness, specifically in sleep, or when some undesired thing has happened to a person and has affected them so much that "a part of them dies inside." The Little Deaths we’ll be investigating today is a 30 page full color historical fantasy adventure comic, written by David Doub and featuring art by Andrew Herman and Paul Maitland. It's based on the French historical figure Julie d’Aubigny (also known as known as Mademoiselle Maupin or La Maupin) who lived A LOT from (1670–1707). She was a duelist, popular opera singer, and apparently was not only known to dress like a man, but could kick the crap out of them in duels, too. The Kickstarter campaign for this project will launch Monday, March 15th, 2021 and will have with a spectacular cast of guest artists for special perks.
