This is an incredible film that follows, in a first person, cinema verité style, Amy's life over several years when her first child was born and close family members died.  Surprisingly detached and thoughtful while simultaneously throwing us in the emotional chaos of birth and death, Amy's accumulation of material and careful editing take us as observers to new levels of insight.

Artist and author Shelley Marlow and I discuss the finer points of creativity, gender identity, the writing process, and living in New York City that flowed together to make her novel,  "Two Augusts in a Row in a Row." This wonderful book, set in New York City in 2001, is a magical realistic spell of events and personalities and Shelly helps us unpack how she brought it to form.

Nancy Princenthal joins me to discuss creativity and meditation in the life of Agnes Martin, the subject of her 2015 book, "Agnes Martin : Her Life and Art". We mull over the mystique of Agnes Martin and her reputation as a 'sage of teh desert' becaues of her reclusive lifestyle and and serene canvass. We also discuss Nancy's writing process and where ideas come from. The episode starts with a rifff of "On the Sunny Side of the Street" playedin 1949 by Olive Mason, the first lady of swing. This month I had a wonderful (and bonus extra long!) conversation with Wendy Ann Greenhalgh, author of Mindfulness and the Art of Drawing. Our books cover similar ground but in different ways and we had fun comparing notes and techniques for drawing and meditation. Wendy Ann describes her newest red thread drawings and the teachings they are revelaing to her. We delve into talking about where our creative ideas come from and end with a super fun exercise that I have already put into practice.  This podcast will release on August 15, 2017, to coincide with her newest publication, Stop, Look, Breate, Create.
