Amy Maricle brings together mindfulness, body awareness, and self care to make unique contributions to the creative contemplative community. Her mindfulartstudio.com website offers online courses, ebooks, and much more while she simultaneously leads a large active community on Facebook called CreativeSelfCare. We spend an hour talking about how she distinguishes between art therapy and creative self care, the nature of the inner critic, and where creativity comes from.
I caught up to artist and meditator Laura Vitale in between silent retreats to talk about the creative process and her meditative path. We go in depth to discuss her sense of what is arising when she draws and how she gives form to that creative energy.
Episode 2 features John Simon in conversation with Eva Lee, a filmmaker, visual artist, meditator, and Fulbright scholar. They talk about theories of visual art and meditation as ways of accessing both separate and non-separate worlds and how things aren't always what they appear to be. Eva tells stories about the making of her films in Tibetan monasteries and her brain wave performance project called 'Dual Brains'.
Betsy McCall, the co-founder of Art Monastery, talks about upcoming ArtMonk retreats in Vermont, the history of the Art Monastery, and what made her fall in love with drawing and art at a young age - plus knitting!
