A year ago when I was out on my morning run, I was shot by a stranger. The year that followed was filled with trauma and sadness and depression and loneliness. A lot of difficult emotions. But it was also filled with hope and happiness and love and support. I reflect on the year that I've had a little bit and the growth and the excitement for the future. I am so grateful to be here and to be able to tell my story.
Welcome back! The Dreams, Seams and Small Business Things podcast is officially back! I'm SO excited to be back and creating new episodes for y'all! I hope this podcast fills you with inspiration and joy. I'll be sharing my triumphs, my fails, the good times and the bad. I hope my stories inspire, entertain and help you to get to know me a little better!
Hello everyone! I know it's been a while since I've made a podcast episode! Life has been doing its thing but also I was shot back in November. I've spent the last few months recovering mentally and physically and I want to take you on the journey of my recovery and moving forward and being a survivor of gun violence.

After receiving a ton of hate because I was wearing a jumpsuit, I decided to wear a dress almost every day in the month of November to make the people even more mad! And it worked!
Talking about the decision that a lot of us small business owners think about; quitting our small businesses.

In this episode, I'll be discussing a common phrase that I hear which is "this is why I don't support black owned businesses." For some reason Black owned small businesses are held to a different standard than other small businesses. We have to be 10 times better, 10 times more efficient, have 10 times better product. And I just wonder where this mentality comes from? Why are we so hard on Black owned businesses and why do we expect so much when we don't expect it from other businesses? And why is it that when one small business messes up, we rule out other small businesses? I also give some advice to small business owners of how to improve their businesses, so they don't run into this situation, where they have a disgruntled customer that not only stop supporting their business, but other businesses.
