Learn How to Secure Your Zoom Meetings
What is Zoom bombing?
With every great technology, there are drawbacks.
Although Zoom is a super fast and reliable video conferencing app, it has security issues.
Hackers are able to jump into public meetings and disrupt them.
This hack is what is being called zoom bombing.
How Can I Secure My Zoom Meetings?
There are several ways you can secure your meetings.
One way to secure your meetings is by using password protection for your zoom meeting rooms.
When you click the ‘Schedule Meeting’ button you can set a password that people will have to enter when they dial-in.
This will add another security measure so that people cannot enter your room as easily as they usually do.
What if they guess the password?
Good news – there is another option!
You can also utilize the waiting room feature.
The Waiting Room feature allows the host to control when a participant joins the meeting.
As the meeting host, you can admit attendees one by one or hold all attendees in the waiting room and admit them all at once.
You can send all participants to the waiting room when joining your meeting or only guests, participants who are not on your Zoom account or are not signed in.
Participants will see the following screen when joining a meeting with Waiting Room enabled:
You can also customize the waiting room screen with your own logo, title, and description.
Note:
- If the Waiting Room option is enabled, join before host will not work for that meeting.
- Webinars do not support Waiting Room. Use a webinar practice session as an alternative.
The waiting room will allow you full control of who can and can’t come into your meeting.
You can kick anyone out who doesn’t belong with this feature.
These are some great options for securing your zoom meeting.
I hope you find these tips useful and you continue to use Zoom!
