  • The Celebration Season Continues... it's Kwanzaa
My listeners know that to keep healthy and happy you have to have some celebrations in life.
I’m blessed in my family to have a Heinz 57 pedigree. We have a little bit of every culture. That means that we get to celebrate every cultural and religious holiday that has ever been invented.
We recently discussed Hanukkah and Christmas, and I’m still making my gingerbread Menches and chocolate Mouskowitzes (my maiden name was moskowitz) to go in the family Chrismukkah packages, because we love to celebrate all the holidays we can, but even the black members of my family were not all that familiar with Kwanzaa.
I can’t pass up another celebration, so I invited someone with a little more knowledge and a lot better sense of humor than mine to discuss Kwanzaa with our listeners around the world.
Although Kwanzaa was born in the United States, it’s popularity has spread worldwide. Who can pass up another weeklong celebration. Join us for an hour and find out how to do it.

  • Hey, Hey, Hey, It's, Hanukkah Harry on the Way!
Hey, hey, hey, what can you say about the eight days of Hanukkah? Even the most Orthodox Jews argue about The true origins and meaning of the Hanukkah holiday.
When I was young, back in the Stone Age there were only three divisions of Judaism:
    1. Orthodox – very strict,
    2. Conservative — we could get away without
    reading and writing Hebrew
    3. Reformed – we called that New Age Judaism.
Now there are other subsets that I have yet to research. In fact, my son goes to a Reconstructionist Temple.
Actually, until I had my fatal brain tumor, we used to joke that Reformed Judaism was Protestant Light...it seemed like church. BIG OOPS! Then I met The Rabbi/Jesus. He invited me home or I could stay here and complete a mission.
That was 1988. Now I am a Jew who works for Jesus. If the term, Messianic Jew, confuses you, you are not alone.
Please allow Rabbi Barney Kasdan, to explain this term and some of our customs on such a special holiday.
    Shalom!

  • Thank You For Your Service ... Now GET OUT! Wait What?
Once upon a time everybody knew someone who was in the service. Of course there was a draft then, and you pretty much had to go into the service. There was a little bit of that with the Vietnam War, and people were not as eager to join the services they were in World War II. Now we don't have a draft we don't have so many people that know what the life of the service member is like.
For those who do, we love it and wouldn't change it for the world. There are other people who chose to join our military and they're not even citizens, but they chose to help defend it with the idea that they might become citizens. Now there's the catch. The devil is in the details – might become citizens. Thank you for your service, now go home? I don't think so… Is that really how they signed up? Do you really think they would've signed up?
We have some deported veterans who want to tell you their stories. Please listen carefully, and let's get them some help, because this just should not have happened

  • Happy Thanksgiving, Veterans. Let's Talk Turkey

THANK YOU, Veteran! The one piece, could be blind, paralyzed, or burdened with Post Traumatic Stress, but, you came back.
THANK YOU, Veteran! Now what? Happy Thanks-giving! There are programs out there to help Veterans and their families, but there are are also rules and deadlines for getting the help they need.
Please join me as I learn from an expert, Yuliana E. Gallegos Rodríguez, Ph.D., Local Recovery Coordinator (LRC),Staff Psychologist, Center of Recover Education (CORE) VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS).

  • What Do YOU Want to Be When You Grow Up?
Do you ever start on a project and get a little sidetracked? Ok, a lot sidetracked? How about a life plan? I don’t know much about Life Coaches, but since I can’t sit still through a commercial, I’m guessing that’s someone I shoud consult.
They didn’t have Life Coaches In the Dark Ages when I was growing up, so I still don’t know what I want to be, but I know I like doing this. Unfortunately though, I still don’t do well with planning, and this is where my guest is a big help. Back in my day, they didn’t really diagnose people with ADHD ( Attention Deffecit Hyperactivity Disorder) either. They just diagnosed us with PITN (Pain In The Neck) actually you can replace that last word, Neck, with A_ _ , Disorder.
Join us - find out what keeps scattered minds like mine on track or at least making course corrections and employable or at least happy doing what they’re doing in life.
Not everyone works for a living... some of us play. What would you like to do when YOU grow up?

  • It's Halloween, Baby, Spend an Hour with MK, The Good witch
Halloween Is sadly misunderstood (holiday)? Religious zealots pressure schools to take Halloween celebrations out of the schools because they think it's some form of devil worship, but it's not – it's not even Halloween, it's "Samhain" pronounced sow-en, and it's just a celebration of the colder season to come, when spring vegetation dies. Hence the very loose connection to death.
Death is a part of life after all, and celebrating it by carving pumpkins is not exactly paganism, although some used to think that it could scare away bad spirits. Things developed, and we kinda got connected with Mexico's Day of the Dead, which is certainly festive.
In any case, this still does not mean that witches, who are still sorely misunderstood and mistakenly connected to this holiday are bad. Although that's how they're always portrayed, and we only see the good witch in the Wizard of Oz. I think we need more information on the subject, so I invited my favorite Good Witch.
