My listeners know that to keep healthy and happy you have to have some celebrations in life.

I’m blessed in my family to have a Heinz 57 pedigree. We have a little bit of every culture. That means that we get to celebrate every cultural and religious holiday that has ever been invented.

We recently discussed Hanukkah and Christmas, and I’m still making my gingerbread Menches and chocolate Mouskowitzes (my maiden name was moskowitz) to go in the family Chrismukkah packages, because we love to celebrate all the holidays we can, but even the black members of my family were not all that familiar with Kwanzaa.

I can’t pass up another celebration, so I invited someone with a little more knowledge and a lot better sense of humor than mine to discuss Kwanzaa with our listeners around the world.

Although Kwanzaa was born in the United States, it’s popularity has spread worldwide. Who can pass up another weeklong celebration. Join us for an hour and find out how to do it.

Welcome to Week 3 of Merry Military Month — The Future of Our Armed Forces.

Why do you think that there are so many military families that go back for generations? Because it’s a great life! There was an ancient saying – “Join the Navy, and See the World.” Not only are the travel opportunities tremendous, but Uncle Sam pays the way.

Our first week we’re going to have Chief Stuart Hedley, who was my first guest on the show. He’s a Pearl Harbor survivor and a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer.

Stewart recently celebrated his 97th birthday but he remains active doing public service speaking, working with the Pearl Harbor Survivors Club, and is a Deacon of this church.

There is no better representation of the ideals of the uniformed services than Chief Stuart Hedley, and he will take us through his experiences surviving Pearl Harbor and in the Korean War.
