WELL HELLO, MY DRUMTREPRENEURS! We are back with a fresh episode of the daily fill weekly podcast and show with your host Richard Ducat (That's ME!). Today, We are digging back into the battle plan and detailing everything regarding our morning routine. Check the steps below for an easy guide that you can copy and paste into your notes!

HYDRATE: HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TALKED ABOUT THIS? Drink one bottle of water... Plain and simple.
Take perspective: It's important that we see the values in our lives every day and show appreciation for the amazing things we have in our lives
Overview the day and write down your goals: It's important to continually keep track of your goals and write them down daily… Follow this with an overview of your day and you will never fall off of track
Work out your body and your mind: For me, i use podcasts and the Micro.Fit App I recently created to help me stay on track with daily fitness. It takes me 6 minutes and while im running through this and the rest of my morning routine I am playing educational podcasts or courses each day to ensure im on the cutting edge of my craft and on the pulse of my business.
Create and say daily affirmations: This is a big one…. We need to focus on our mindset and that starts with telling yourself the things you need to hear and believe each day. Start with 5 powerful statements such as “ I am becoming a millionaire” “ I am leading my team to success”
Create a consistent set of morning chores:  I know this sounds boring and probably the last thing you need to do but Admiral McRaven said that If we start with a simple task like making our bed then we will feel a sense of accomplishment that will inevitably lead us to more accomplishments. This holds true and I believe its essential to put together a list of 5-6 morning chores you do each day to ensure the tidiness of your home, well being of your pets, comfort of your closest family members or children, assurance that your property holds value from consistent upkeep or just cleaning your toilet because ya know….
EAT SOMETHING: I know this whole intermittent fasting keto diet is taking the community by storm but listen… Ive tried it and its not something i would suggest… Not eating causes me physical stomach pain which distracts me from staying on task and limits my ability to accomplish my tasks at a 10X level. Keep it simple… Yogurt, Granola, Smoothies.
Reach out to your loved ones: This is my final step for good reason… After youve ripped through your morning and accomplished more then most will in their entire day you should dial it back and reach out to the ones you love. You will be in your most positive form and full of exertable joy that will most certainly bleed onto the receiving end of your conversations. This does two things… IT creates consistency in keeping up with our inner circle AND it promotes the well being of our relationships and their ability to grow and prosper.

In closing: This simple 8 step protocol has been the basis for my efforts to creating a successful life and while they are not easy.... they sure are accomplishing. Take these in long strides and remember that it's the little things we do each day that add up to big accomplishments we can make!

REMEMBER... You need to take notes, you need to apply these efforts ASAP.

  • Rob Mount - The Gig of a lifetime
What's up Drumtrepreneurs! We are back with a fresh episode of the Drummers I Like Podcast. This week we are chatting with Rob Mount! Rob is the current drummer for Lou Gramm and has got some serious skin in the game playing with some of the biggest in the industry. He has toured the world multiple times over, released several albums in several different countries and is now the drummer for arguably one of the bigger influencers of the hair metal genre…. I finally got to meet him at Namm and am stoked that we finally made this happen…

    Key Points from today's episode:

    * Rob takes us back 43 years to age 7 when he was known to shred the Osmonds on his homemade Disney book and toy rigged drumset. We learn about his early exposure to the band kiss and how his kick-ass mom made sure he was equipped with the metal giants latest vinyl.
    * Rob talks about his early influences as well as his first drum teacher who kind of freaked him out. Rob spent a lot of time working on his playing and focusing on his education which allowed him to really gain the chops he needed to get any gig he wanted.
    * Rob breaks down the story of how he landed the gig with Lou Gramm through his own foreigner cover band. This band will ultimately go on to become the band to back Lou Gramm and the gig of a lifetime for Rob.

With such a giant resume it is no wonder that this show went as long as it did. Rob is a dictionary of advice, gear knowledge, and of course legendary touring stories! I gotta send a big shout out to my brother J.C. Clifford from Drumtacs. He really made this show a reality bringing yet another great Vet to the Drummers I Like Podcast Vault!

That's it for today's show! We will catch you next week!

  • #85: Dre Energy - Risking Everything For Success
What's up Drumtrepreneurs! We are back with a fresh episode of the Drummers I Like Podcast. This week we are chatting with Dre Energy A.K.A. Andre Boyd and boy am I excited. Dre is the drummer for Cirque du Soleil's Quidam show production and currently on tour 330 days of the year. He is also the Drummer for a Michael Jackson Tribute Touring group that along with consistent clinics in places like China and Japan that keep this Drumtrepreneur EXTREMELY BUSY. Dre lives, breathes, eats, and sleeps entrepreneurial mindset and his approach to his career and profession are one that I want listeners to really take a focus on. In today's show, we go deep into the mind of a serial entrepreneur that has taken his situation and flipped it, switched it, upgraded it, and systemized it in a way that allows him to pick and choose his endeavor.

    Key Points from today's episode:

    * Andre starts the show off with a deep insight into the importance of playing with the music and not against it. He gives us insight on why learning to be patient with your playing is the true key to success with the gig.
    * We get into the epic story of Dre's Success and how He and is his Wife maxed out their credit cards, put their bank accounts negative, and lived in LAX for 3 days with $60 to audition for the Cirque du Soleil's Quidam gig.
    * We dig deep into the details of Dre's drumkit as he gives us a rundown of his gear, sizes, favorites pieces, and of course the essential tool he feels every drummer needs.

No matter how you put it, Andre Boyd is a true Drumtrepruneur demonstrating all the correct principles needed to assume each and every role involved with doing so. From his entry into the world of product development to his clinician endeavors in Asia and Japan he truly lives the life of success and adventure. He also proves the big point I end our show with and that is that no one cares about your success but you! Think about that next time you decide you go waste your time "hanging out"

That's it for today's show! We will catch you next week!

  • #84: Justin Scott - The Journeyman Drummer
What's up Drumtrepreneurs! We are back with a fresh episode of the Drummers I Like Podcast. This week we are chatting with Justin Scott! This Colorado rockstar has amassed over 50K in followers in Instagram with an ability to play drums on a level some will never understand. I've been watching Justin tear it up for a while now and was really excited to finally get on a call with this amazing player!

    Key Points from today's episode:

    * Justin breaks it down for us starting with the early days of children growing up in the church where his dad was the pastor. Justin makes mention to the key moment in his toddler years where he approached a drumset during church and started hitting the snare in time with the band
    * We did into his development as he details us on his early influencers such as a Creed and POD. Justin explains how pillows were the original practice pad in his world and credit them to his ability to learn songs.
    * Justin gets into the beginning years of finding youtube and the profound impact having an index of amazing drum videos to choose from. He explains that this is why he feels he was able to pick up different styles and start to truly learn his craft.

Justin Scott is a true Journeyman player and with a resume like this how could you deny it? His passion speaks through his abilities and watching him play is truly an inspiration.

  • Daily Fill #132 - Drum Lesson: Dazed and Confused.
Hey Everyone! Welcome back to another episode of The Daily Fill! In this week's episode of Drum Lessons with Scott Jackson, Scott begins to defines confusion.

Confusion... One of the easiest feelings to understand. "What in the world am I doing?" As musicians, the difficult part is that whenever we learn a new song, fill, chop, concept, beat, rhythm, reading notes... And just about everything else. We always start back at confusion. Now certainly, over time, we will be able to learn certain things faster, but we always will have to "take it slow" at first. This is because for every variation we add our brain has to process new information, even at the slightest degree. Pretty crazy, right? Drummers today, are now being put under immense pressure to perform and know more than just drums. We have to know electronic gear, mics, mixers, video and audio editing, and on top of that all the skills required to be a Great drummer. I will say this... Not all of that is required, but that is for another day. So, it can be overwhelming and confusing, however: just remember this. Take your time, be diligent, research, study, analyze, and GO PRACTICE. No one skill or topic can be mastered with out those things. So if you don't do them, you will forever remained confused...

    Key Points From Today's Lesson:

    1. We have all been there: Whenever you learn a new beat or style of music. Complete Confusion

    2. Every thing begins with Confusion: A new fill, style, beat, chop, concept, practice routine...

    3. Understanding Fellow Musicians: How comfortable are other musicians?

    4. Overcome Confusion: Research, Study, Analyze, and Practice

    5. Be Diligent: Never stop studying and learning. Strive for mastery

That is it for today's lesson! Enjoy! Go Practice!
