Justin and Caleb read another Clay Reynolds prize winner that turns out to be a little more erotic than they had anticipated. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

This week, Justin and Caleb discuss SHOELESS JOE by W.P. Kinsella, the book that inspired the film FIELD OF DREAMS starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, and Ray Liota. Ray Kinsella is a below average farmer who hears a voice tell him, "If you build it, he will come." He takes it to mean, if he tears up a large portion of his crop and builds a baseball field, the deceased Shoeless Joe Jackson will return to play baseball. The guys discuss what they though worked in the book and how the movie holds up in comparison. Then they announce some news for the new year.

Ten Florida writers came together and wrote a thing for the New York Times Magazine. Florida guys themselves, Justin and Caleb gave it a read and chatted about it on the pod.

Justin sent Caleb a link to a new story from Sam Lipsyte, a writer Caleb really enjoys, but does he feel the same about yet another #MeToo story written by an established writer and published by the New Yorker. As usual, they stray a bit from the story to ramble about the internet and show their growing age. Maybe it's time to cancel the podcast. Who fuckin' knows?

Caleb and Justin drink New Belgium and gin respectively, chat about their favorite stories, and discuss what they would do if caught in the Loop.
