Sat Lt. Diane Goldstein Dir Law Enforcement Action Partnership

This week on Century of Lies: Marijuana at the UN. The Nonviolent

Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty, with the support of the

European Coalition for Just and Effective Drug Policies organized a

panel recently entitled Cannabis Legalization: Science and Policies

which was held as a side event at the Sixty-Eighth Session of the

United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, Austria. On

this edition of Century we\'ll hear portions of that panel including

presentations by Dr. Beau Kilmer, Codirector of the RAND Drug Policy

Research Center, a Senior Policy Researcher, and Professor of Policy

Analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy; Dr. Peter Reuter, a

long-time drug policy researcher and a Professor in the School of

Public Policy and the Department of Criminology at the University of

Maryland; and Heinrich Wieker, a former electrical engineer and the

founder of the Hanover, Germany Cannabis Social Club

Lt. Goldstein is a recognized leader in the area of crisis negotiations and critical incident management. She helped develop national training guidelines and policies for use during critical incidents, including the California Police Officer Standards and Training guidelines for the Basic Crisis Negotiator Course as well as the Recommended Course Topics and Crisis Negotiations Core Competencies for negotiators and SWAT. Lt. Goldstein came to advocacy work through the tragic loss of a close family member who couldn\'t get the assistance he needed because the justice system is not equipped to provide people struggling with mental health and addiction the tools they need to be successful. In 2021, Goldstein became the Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership. She holds a MA in criminology, law, and society and a BA in legal studies

Sat Dana Larsen is a well-known Vancouver cannabis activist and politician
