DTVC Podcast

In this episode I'm joined once again by Ty from Comeuppance Reviews, this time to discuss the Bruce Willis film Detective Knight: Rogue, and after that we look at one from Hector Echevarria, 2013's Chavez Cage of Glory, a Rocky rip-off with a whole host of B-move actors.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some of the weeks we don't have episodes of the main podcast. In this episode we start our series looking at the Kickboxer films with "Kickboxer" and "Kickboxer 2." With Kickboxer, I get nostalgic for the late 80s, and talk about the Van Damme we had then, who was a rising star. Then with Kickboxer 2, I talk about the issues Albert Pyun had with Van Damme on Cyborg, whether or not that contributed to Van Damme passing on working on this, and what we got by having Sasha Mitchell instead.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Will from Exploding Helicopter to discuss two films from famous Brit hardman Craig Fairbrass. First we discuss "Villain," a film with more depth and drama than the tin would have you believe. Second we look at "Rise of the Foot Soldier III" co-starring Billy Murray, during which after Will gives context between London and Essex, I go off on a big tangent about North Jersey in relation to New York City.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Mitch from the Video Vacuum, as we look at the shot-on-video company W.A.V.E. Productions. We start by looking at the documentary Mail Order Murder: The Story of W.A.V.E. Productions, which covers their creation and growth. From there we look at one of their films, Eaten Alive: A Tasteful Revenge--a film like no other! We also check in on Mitch's ongoing project over at his site, The Video Vacuum: Tubi Continued, where he's looking to cover 365 Tubi films this year.

You can find The Video Vacuum at https://thevideovacuum.blogspot.com/, and his books on Amazon by clicking this link.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some of the weeks we don't have episodes of the main podcast. In this episode we finish our series looking at the Fast and Furious films with "F9: The Fast Saga" and "Fast X." I look at how F9 (which I call Fast 9 to make it easier) is one of the comfort food franchises people were looking for when theaters opened up again in 2021. Then with Fast X, I talk about my first trip to the theater to see a blockbuster in years, and how much that experience has changed since my last time going. I also compare the tail end of the franchise to a sitcom that may have been holding on too long to make it to rerun syndication, complete with going to space being the jumping of the shark, and the addition of the kid to the cast in Fast X--all we needed was that "very special episode" to make it complete.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some of the weeks we don't have episodes of the main podcast. In this episode we continue the series looking at the Fast and Furious films, moving to "Fate of the Furious" and "Hobbs and Shaw." I look at how Fate of the Furious is able to maintain the success of Furious 7, but also the turmoil that comes at the end of production when Hobbs and Shaw was announced. Then with Hobbs and Shaw, I talk about why this one doesn't do as well. Was it the quality of the film? Were we seeing the "Disney Effect" that also crushed Terminator: Dark Fate that year? Maybe a combination of both?

First we discuss "High Heat," co-starring Don Johnson and "Diamond" Dallas Page. Second we look at "The Courier" co-starring Gary Oldman and Dermot Mulroney. We also talk about where Kurylenko sits as far as women action stars all time.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some of the weeks we don't have episodes of the main podcast. In this episode we continue the series looking at the Fast and Furious films, moving to "Fast & Furious 6" and "Furious 7." I look at how Fast and Furious 6 keeps the train running from Fast Five, but also moves the franchise into full blockbuster mode. Then with Furious 7 I talk about how the franchise goes next level, surpassing $1 billion at the box office. I also chat about the late Paul Walker, and how the series handled his tragic death.

First we have "Most Dangerous Game," a film where Van Dien has a fun German accent, and CT from the Real World and The Challenge has his standard Mass accent. After that we look at the Nevsky film Red Prophecies, where Van Dien and co-stars Eric Roberts and Michael Madsen are all dubbed.
