DTVC Podcast

We're joined once again by Jon Cross from the PM Entertainment Podcast and the After Movie Diner, this time to discuss a Last Seduction double feature. With the first one, we look at where it fits with the other great films of 1994, then dig in on what works and what doesn't, including a couple glaring plot holes. Then with the sequel, we get into how many ways it was sauteed in wrong sauce--and there were many! Finally, after the end theme, we have bonus content, where Jon and I riff about mining IP, 90s movies, the Beatles, and Monty Python.

You can find the PM Entertainment Podcast and After Movie Diner on all major podcatchers, and on YouTube.

Todd Liebenow from Forgotten Filmcast and Cartoon Breakdown is back, this time to get stuck in on the Reb Brown classic "Strike Commando." Before that though, we discuss the new Supergirl movie, and how it compared to the original for us. Then with "Strike Commando" it's all about shimmying stuntmen, anachronisms, Reb Brown screams, and lies about Disneyland.

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I look at the new "Supergirl" movie. I start with some backstory about how we got to that movie, and then I try to make sense of why a movie that's pretty good is doing so poorly at the box office. In the second segment, I talk about my newest novel "Mark in Sales," giving some background on how I came up with the story and characters. Finally, I talk about the US team controversy in the World Cup.

In this episode I'm joined once again by Chris "The Brain" Kacvinsky from Bulletproof Action, and this time we're doing some Brucesploitation with "Golden Dragon, Silver Snake." There's a lot of fun stuff to discuss in this one, like the restaurant with no customers, the "bastard milkman," and what Samuel Walls was even doing in the film; but we still managed to get in some tangents on classic TV, 80s and 90s wrestling, and a question on which states we need in the US.

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod as we look at the third Alan Delabie Lapierre film "Shepherd Code: Lapierre," and "Clear Cut" starring a lot of returning podcast champions. With "Shepherd Code: Lapierre," it had some nice moments, but the pacing made it difficult for us. Then on the second one, it also had its flaws, but that cast of familiar podcast faces made it a fun watch. Finally, our spotlight on a fight looks at the fight in "Charade" between George Kennedy and Cary Grant.

We're joined once again this week by screenwriter Richard Pierce, as we look at the Jalal Merhi classic(?) "Expect to Die." Before that we start by discussing some of Rich's movies, in particular his Lifetime ones, and the place they hold in the current market. Then we get stuck in on the film, going over all of our key highlights--one of which we discover later I missed because I was watching what I didn't realize was the TV edit on Merhi's Film One YouTube channel.

Rich's latest film "The Prep School Disappearance", and his film "Lost in the Everglades" starring Tori Spelling are both available on Hulu.

In this episode I'm joined by Freddie Young from Full Moon Reviews as we look at one of my favorite Dolph films, "The Minion". We start in the first 15 minutes or so talking about game 3 of the NBA Finals and the mess in New York when Trump attended the game. From there we spend the next 90 minutes or so looking at the year in movies so far, what's done well, what struggled, and what surprised us, and why we think all that happened. Then with "The Minion," we talk about the time this was made, and how it fit certain themes. We also discuss Dolph, and how excited or not excited he was to make this.

Scott Murphy from All 90s Action, All the Time and Bloody Sam is back to discuss another Steven Seagal DTV flick, this time "Urban Justice." Out of the ones we've done so far, this one might not be so bad. But what does that mean for a Seagal DTV movie?

We're joined once again by Jon Cross from the PM Entertainment Podcast and the After Movie Diner, this time to discuss a Shannon Whirry erotic thriller double feature "Mirror Images II" and "Private Obsession." With the first one, we look a bit at the first "Mirror Images" too, and how Shannon Whirry really brings it in part two. And then with "Private Obsession," we get into why this one doesn't work work for us, and how it betrays the elements of Erotic Thrillers that makes them so good. Finally, after the end theme, we have bonus content, where Jon and I riff about a variety of topics.

We're joined once again by Mitch from the Video Vacuum, and we're discussing the cult classic "Champagne and Bullets". It'll be heavy on the "Shimmy Slide," but there's so much more to this gem, and Mitch and I try to cover all of it. We also look at the endearing traits of these vanity projects, and how much fun they are.
