After 11 episodes featuring powerful, funny, moving, and motivational interviews with some amazing guests, I thought it might be fun to turn the microphone around on myself for a change. We recorded this episode backstage at my Cardiff Arena show, just before soundcheck.

This week’s Dua Lipa: At Your Service guest is actor, musician, activist, and (very!) recent Oscar winner Riz Ahmed. Their all-encompassing conversation explores Riz’s journey from Wembley to Hollywood with detours through Afghanistan and Pakistan; the unexpected parallels for a young Muslim man between the audition room and airport security; and how he snuck a music video into the Academy Awards nominations and came out a winner.

In 2014, this week’s ‘At Your Service’ guest, Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad, was a young woman of 21, when at the height of the ISIS caliphate in Northern Iraq, ISIS surrounded her Yazidi community in the Sinjar region. Her brothers and mother were killed in a mass slaughter. Nadia and her sisters were abducted into sexual slavery. After she managed a remarkable and daring escape, she channeled her trauma to incredible effect, today advocating for survivors of genocide and sexual violence. She tells her story on this week’s episode, joined by her legal counsel, barrister Amal Clooney.
