Countdown to Craziness was fantastic! We recap the great weekend as Duke Basketball’s preseason kicks off with Episode 854.

The weekend was terrific, but the centerpiece was the action on Coach K Court as both the men’s and women’s team played in intrasquad scrimmages. We start out by dissecting the men’s game and who stood out, from Deron Rippey Jr. to Sebastian Wilkins. We go through everyone on the floor who played and how we think they did in their first action in front of the home fans. 

We also discuss the women’s game and how Kara Lawson is set for a big year with a healthy lineup of stars. Of course, we have to talk about the intros, the dunk contest, and everything else around the night of Duke Basketball. Duke football continues to roll the opposition, beating William & Mary in a game that had folks going back to the 1940s for comparisons. The Duke Basketball Roundup breaks down what it all means and how things are shaping up for the football devils as they move forward. On this edition of the Duke Basketball Roundup we have the very difficult task of talking about the passing of Chris Spatola, Coach K's son-in-law and someone who had a profound impact on the Duke program. After serving our nation in the military, Chris coached when Jon Scheyer was at Duke and then became a familiar voice on ESPN broadcasts. This is a hard day for the Duke community. Before dealing with the news about Chris, the DBR Podcast crew spends some time previewing the football contest with William and Mary. Well, that was fun. The Duke football team chopped down the Stanford Cardinal to begin the defense of their ACC Title. The Duke Basketball Roundup crew breaks down the many ways Duke dominated this contest, starting with an OLine and RB who made a mockery of Stanford's claim that it boasts a strong run defense. The football Blue Devils have their first ACC game of the season this weekend as the Stanford Cardinal come to Durham. It was a packed weekend of Duke sports starting with a huge victory for the football Blue Devils on the road at Illinois. The Duke Blue Devils hit the road this weekend for a big test on the gridiron against Illinois. We preview the game on Episode 845. The Illini won their opening game last weekend against UAB, and Jason and Donald go through what they did well and some areas that Duke could create an advantage. It’s a tough game, but if Duke plays well and improves in some areas, they have the ability to beat Illinois and make a statement in the process. We then get into some of the details of the activities that will take place before and during Countdown to Craziness on October 3rd. From a fan fest in K-Ville to tours and a dunk contest, Countdown sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun! Plus, it’s the best time to be introduced to the women’s and men’s basketball teams, and we like that there’s a lot of activities for everyone regardless of whether they have a ticket.
