Eligible members with a Disney Resort hotel reservation on the event date can register online for the Epcot events beginning February 23, 2022. Event registration opens to all eligible Members on March 8, 2022 (pending availability).  Registration information for the Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom events is not yet available.

Beginning February 17, 2022, face coverings will be optional for fully vaccinated Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations. Guests who are not fully vaccinated are expected to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters. Face coverings will still be required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner.

Disney announced plans to introduce Storyliving by Disney, vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with Disney’s special brand of magic. Each community will feature distinctively designed spaces, unique amenities and Disney’s brand of world-renowned service.

These master-planned, new home communities are intended to inspire residents to foster new friendships, pursue their interests and write the next exciting chapter in their lives — all while enjoying the attention to detail and special touches that are Disney hallmarks.

Cotino, the first Storyliving by Disney community, will be built in the heart of the Coachella Valley in Rancho Mirage, California.

Walt Disney World increased ticket prices for multi-day tickets for guests visiting for multiple days on Wednesday, February 16th. This is the first major adjustment to Walt Disney World’s ticket pricing since March 2019.

Some shorter tickets have stayed the same price, but most 4-day or longer tickets are higher by 4-8%.  Ticket prices for individual tiers seemingly have not changed as of yet. Annual passes are still unavailable for purchase.

Beginning March 3, 2022, Disney Vacation Club Members can add on to their membership at the newly expanded and enhanced The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  Approximately 200 new Resort Studios are expected to open in Summer 2022. DVC has previously announced that the new Resort Studios will be a part of the current condo association for the Grand Floridian and will expire in 2064 with the rest of the resort.

Disney has sent e-mails to all members scheduled to cruise on the DVC cruise on June 14th. The e-mail stated as follows: 

“While we are all eagerly awaiting the ship’s debut, today we must share that our anticipation will unfortunately have to extend a bit longer than initially planned. The shipyard has notified us that despite their very best efforts, they will need more time to finish our ship due in part to the pandemic and particularly the arrival of the Omicron variant in Germany at a critical point in the process.

As a result, we are left with no other choice than to delay our maiden voyage until July 14, 2022. This will regrettably affect the exclusive Disney Vacation Club cruise for which you have a reservation. 

Since you were booked on the exclusive Disney Vacation Club cruise, we will automatically shift your reservation to the new Member sail date, July 19, 2022, at a 50 percent discount. If you are unable to move to this new date, you will have the option of either a 50 percent discount on a future cruise departing by December 31, 2023, with all reservation points and monies applied to that future cruise, or a full refund, including reimbursement of any cash and/or the return of any reservation points used for your reservation.”

It’s important to note the difference between “Reservation Points” and “DVC Points”, as once points are converted to “Reservation Points,” they do not convert back to DVC Points.

In a series of filings with the Orange County Comptroller's office, Disney Vacation Club has amended the Ground Lease, Declaration of Condominium and Membership Agreement to begin adding the “Phase 2” units to its Grand Floridian timeshare development. A total of 101 Resort Studios were added to the program, representing half of the 202 rooms which make up the project. The rooms formally added include most of the 3rd floor, plus all of the 4th and 5th floors of the Big Pine Key building.

While these filings move Disney Vacation Club closer to selling additional points at the Grand Floridian, no prices or sale dates have yet been disclosed. With Disney's Riviera Resort, sales began about one month after similar declarations were filed. For reference, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge opened sales just 15 days after such filings.

According to Disney Website – On Wednesday, April 13th, extended hours will be offered at Hollywood Studios instead of the usual Magic Kingdom hours. Magic Kingdom extended hours return to the rotation the following week. It is not known at this time what rides will be available at Hollywood Studios during the extended hours.

Tim Krasniewski over at DVC News has indicated a current special incentive from Disney for Direct purchase at Bay Lake tower, with up to a $48 discount on points purchase. Remember, base price for BLT is $245 but discounts this large are rare for sold-out resorts.  For example, 200 points a new member would receive a $26 discount to $219, while an existing member can add-on 200 points with a $43 reduction bringing the price down to $202 per point.  This compares to $194 right now for 200 points at Riviera. So if you are a BLT superfan and insist on buying direct – now may be the time. Offer ends March 2nd.

All of these resorts have only 20 years left on their contracts, as compared to newer resorts like Riviera and Copper Creek that have more than twice as many years remaining on the contract.

On February 11th, the brand-new “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade” will debut at Walt Disney World! The new cavalcade will include nearly 30 favorite Disney and Pixar friends, such Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” José Carioca and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros,” plus Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, and more – including the Magic Kingdom debut of Miguel from “Coco” in his mariachi best.

On March 9th, Disney “Festival of Fantasy” Parade returns to Magic Kingdom Park – the anniversary of the debut of the parade in 2014!

Finally, on February 25th, “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” will make its debut on the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage. The show is enhanced for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration and will incorporate favorite scenes inspired by “Frozen,” “Tangled,” and “The Princess and the Frog” – plus a new opening and a new finale with Mickey Mouse and all his friends in their sparkling, EARidescent fashions. The show will also include an all-new, original song entitled “Where the Magic Feels Like Home.”

Several popular resort restaurants have re-opening dates.

• Flying Fish at Disney’s Boardwalk will re-open January 27th
• Turf Club at Saratoga Springs will re-open February 3rd
• Jiko at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will re-open February 17th

New menu items will be available at each resort – in some cases replacing old favorites.

In addition, as of February 15th, Cape May Cafe will return to a buffet service option, with both breakfast and dinner options. No word on the characters returning for breakfast, and the dinner buffet will have crab legs and lobster as optional additions on a per pound basis.

As of January 31st, Ale and Compass will be re-starting lunch options and adding additional breakfast options including their famous Blueberry Bacon Pancakes.

Reservations opened on January 20th for these restaurants.

Disney announced Jessie's Trading Post and Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant will be coming in 2022 to Toy Story Land.

Jessie’s Trading Post will be “full of the coolest toys and finest souvenirs handpicked by the rootinest, tootinest cowgirl.”

Roundup Rodeo BBQ was originally announced in April 2019 and will provide “unique, fun, family-friendly dining experience, where guests will enjoy delicious barbecue fare while surrounded by a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets that Andy has brought together to create his one-of-a-kind rodeo.”

Disney Vacation Club members can book 2023 river cruises with Adventures by Disney on January 27, 2022, one day before the general public! 

On Rhine River cruises, guests will explore storybook villages in Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Highlights include a toboggan ride through the black forest, high-adrenaline thrills at an indoor winter park and a voyage through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley offering up-close views of 30 majestic castles.

Danube River sailings visit eight unforgettable destinations in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, where adventurers will roam medieval ruins, scale treetop rope bridges and marvel at the rolling hills made famous in “The Sound of Music.” 

Seine River cruises will celebrate the magnificence of rural France with visits to picturesque provincial towns, the historic beaches of Normandy, Monet’s House and Gardens, the dramatic cliffs of Etretat, and Paris – the “City of Lights.”

Disney has reorganized vacation options in two collections: a reorganized Disney Collection and an updated World Collection.

Within the Disney Collection, you’ll find both “Disney Stays” and “Disney Experiences.”

Disney Stays include the 15 Disney Vacation Club Resorts, but for eligible Members, also include traditional Disney Resort hotel exchange options in the heart of the magic and beyond.

Disney Experiences include such exchange options as Disney Cruise Line voyages, Adventures by Disney guided trips, National Geographic Expeditions and 2-night Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experiences.

Interval International options, meanwhile, are part of the new updated World Collection, which for eligible Members also includes Concierge Collection properties across the globe.

On January 26, 2022, the Grand Floridian Spa will resume offering a wide range of full-service spa treatments to Disney guests. Massages, exfoliation treatments, manicures and pedicures are just a few of the products which will be offered. 

Specific health and safety guidelines have not been disclosed, though Disney does state: “We continue to keep the safety of our guests and cast members top of mind, and your experience may be different from your last visit.”

Reservations are available now for dates beginning January 26. 

There is no word on a reopening for the spa at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or other locations around Walt Disney World. Both the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs facilities had previously operated under the name “Senses.”

The popular Garden Rocks Concert Series returns to the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival this March! New this year, internationally recognized artists will bring the groove to the America Gardens Theater stage Friday-Monday, while local Orlando bands step into the spotlight Tuesday-Thursday.

The series features something for everyone – from returning favorites like The Guess Who, Rick Springfield and Simple Plan to Latin hitmakers Melina León and Claudia Leitte, Christian music superstar TobyMac and groovin’ legends Kool & The Gang. Disney announced that on January 10th, they will suspend use of the virtual queue at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This means there will be only two options for riding, standby queue, or the individual paid lightning lane. It is expected that standby waits will be significant.

DVC had previously announced that the physical “Blue Card” was going to be suspended on January 1, 2022. Now we know the replacement is through the My Disney Experience App, and using Magic Mobile.

MagicMobile was introduced in 2021 as a new feature allowing guests to use most smartphones and watches to replicate features of the MagicBand. It has now been expanded to show digital membership verification.

MagicMobile is configured using the My Disney Experience app on supported smartphones. Tap on the "hamburger" button on the bottom right (three horizontal lines) and select "Disney MagicMobile." Tap "Set Up Your Pass" and use the "Change Pass Style" button to select one of the available card designs. (You do NOT need to select the DVC design for it to register you as a DVC member.) After selecting a design, tap on the "Add to Wallet" button to create the digital pass within the smartphone's Apple or Android wallet. This electronic card will show any affiliation including Annual Passes and DVC.

The DVC members-only website has recently added a queuing system to control the volume of traffic. When the virtual queue is in place, visitors will not be able to immediately log in. Instead, they will be presented with the following message: 

Due to high demand on the Member website, you are currently waiting to visit disneyvacationclub.com. 

If your need is not urgent, we recommend that you try again at a later time. 

If you wish to remain in the queue, please do not refresh this page or close your browser and you'll be redirected shortly. 

Thank you for your patience. 

This queuing process could present issues for members looking to make reservations early in the morning when the 11 or 7 month booking windows come into play. Reservations open daily at 8:00am eastern, with some resorts and room types filling within minutes, in accordance with high member demand. Several recent late-morning login attempts saw our access delayed by approximately 60 seconds. 

The change comes as 11-month reservations are being accepted for popular dates in the fall of 2022, with Thanksgiving and Christmas periods rapidly approaching.

On February 3, 2022, the price for Disney's Riviera Resort and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas will rise to $207 each. This represents an increase of $6 per point from the current $201 each. 

These price increases come as Disney Vacation Club prepares to relaunch sales of the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. 200 additional Resort Studio rooms are scheduled to be added in the summer of 2022. Points charts were recently revealed for both 2022 and 2023. Sales are expected to begin sometime in the first quarter of 2022. No details have been released regarding pricing or promotions for additional Grand Floridian points.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of other Dream Key holders alleges that limiting the number of park pass reservations available for Dream Keys — which were advertised as having “no blockout dates” — when passes for regular tickets are still available is a violation of the program’s contract as well as false advertising.  More than 3,600 Dream Keys were sold.

In total, the lawsuit includes six causes of action, including violations of the consumers’ legal remedies act, violations of the false advertising law, violations of the unfair competition law, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, and concealment/non-disclosure.

Disney has filed a notice of removal, which takes the case from state court to a United States District Court.

After an over 20-month closure, “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!” is finally performing again at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Disney has made a few updates, including repainted sets, replaced lights and soundboard, and new sound effects.  Unfortunately, audience members currently are not able to come on stage and be part of the show due to physical distancing guidelines.

Points charts were recently revealed for both 2022 and 2023. Sales are expected to begin sometime in the first quarter of 2022. No details have been released regarding pricing or promotions for additional Grand Floridian points.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of other Dream Key holders alleges that limiting the number of park pass reservations available for Dream Keys — which were advertised as having “no blockout dates” — when passes for regular tickets are still available is a violation of the program’s contract as well as false advertising.  More than 3,600 Dream Keys were sold.

In total, the lawsuit includes six causes of action, including violations of the consumers’ legal remedies act, violations of the false advertising law, violations of the unfair competition law, breach of contract, negligent misrepresentation, and concealment/non-disclosure.

Disney has filed a notice of removal, which takes the case from state court to a United States District Court.

After an over 20-month closure, “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!” is finally performing again at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Disney has made a few updates, including repainted sets, replaced lights and soundboard, and new sound effects.  Unfortunately, audience members currently are not able to come on stage and be part of the show due to physical distancing guidelines.

Disney Genie service began at the Disneyland Resort on December 8, 2021. The service costs $20 per ticketed guest per day. Disney Genie+ is similar to Disneyland’s old MaxPass system, which was a digital service that allowed guests to book Fastpasses on their smartphones.

The three attractions available for Individual Lightning Lane in the two parks are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Disneyland park and Radiator Springs Racers and Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure in Disney California Adventure.

DVC announced that Interval International will become the program's new exchange partner effective January 1, 2022. Among its current resort brands are Marriott, Hyatt, Vistana, Starwood, and Ritz Carlton. Interval currently represents more than 3200 resorts in 80 nations worldwide. 

DVC members may continue to trade via RCI through December 31, 2021. Deposits made to RCI that have not yet been redeemed may be utilized through 2023.

The 2023 point charts still show seven travel periods. For the first time in DVC history, most fall travel dates require more points than summer travel dates. The other travel periods remain fairly static.

The 2023 changes only affect Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Walt Disney World Resort. They do not impact Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas, Ko Olina, Hawaiʻi. These point charts remain unchanged.

The 2022 and 2023 Grand Floridian charts now show a new point category for “Resort Studio” rooms, with 3 views: standard, lake, and theme park. The “Resort Studio” rooms are the upcoming DVC expansion rooms in the Big Pine Key building. The Standard and Lake categories remain the same as the current Grand Floridian DVC studios, but the Theme Park view sets a new record for most expensive DVC studio.

Disney announced that Magic Kingdom will begin utilizing their parking lot trams again later this month after suspending the service due to COVID-19. The other three Walt Disney World theme parks will resume their tram service at some point in 2022.

New this year, qualifying Disney Vacation Club members with tickets to the event have the opportunity to view the night's fireworks from a private area located in the park's East Garden. Attendance is limited to the DVC member plus 3 additional guests.

At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Story Book Dining at Artist Point will reopen on December 16th. Boatwright’s Dining Hall at Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will be reopening as well on December 14th. Reservations opened to the public on December 2nd for both of these restaurants.

At the Destination D23 event held at Walt Disney World today, Imagineer Bhavna Mistry and Disney Parks President Josh D’Amaro presented some additional concept art for the DVC Disneyland tower rooms and pool area. The rooms will be themed to the colors of Sleeping Beauty, while the pool will have the theme of an artist's palette. No further details on opening were provided, but the concept art did indicate a 2023 opening date was still the target.

Bad news if you’ve been waiting to buy your annual pass.

On Monday, November 22nd, Disney quietly removed sales of three of the four annual passes from their website. Only the $399 Pixie Dust pass for Florida residents and very limited is still available. DVC members are not allowed to buy passes either at this time. When the new pass program was rolled out, Disney indicated that pass sales could be suspended at any time, but this is the first time that it has occurred. It appears pass renewals are still an option for existing passes.

Then on Wednesday, November 24th, Disneyland announced that the ”Believe” Magic Key was sold out, making the top two tiers at Disneyland unavailable.

Currently, Disney Cruise Line continues to require all vaccine-eligible Guests (based on US eligibility requirements) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), at the time of sailing. This will be a requirement for all Guests (US and international) ages 5 and up for sailings beginning on or after January 13, 2022. Guests who are not vaccine-eligible because of age must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date. Guests ages 5 through 11 may complete this testing requirement in lieu of being fully vaccinated for sailings that depart before January 13, 2022. Guests 4 years of age and under must complete the testing requirements. The test should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test or lab-based PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted.
