Week 2 got off to an exciting start last night with another game winning field goal to end the Thursday night game. This time, it was by Dustin Hopkins (who gets an extra 3 clutch points for his Dynasty Owners with that kick). His 43 yard FG with no time remaining in regulation gave the Washington Football Team a 30-29 victory over the New York Giants. Two weeks and two game winning FGs on Thursday night plus the wild ending to Monday Night Football. Quite the start to the 2021 season!

I doubt that anyone could have predicted those cliffhanger results and that our Dynasty Owner Match-up of the Week for Week 1 would come down to a clutch FG in the fourth quarter of the Monday Night Football game. That’s what makes the NFL and fantasy football so much fun (at least if you team wins). Unlike those games, I won’t make you wait until the end of this article to find out how my recommendations fared and who I’m recommending this week.

Man is it crazy how fast Week 1 has come and gone after waiting so long for it to arrive. Week 1 brought a ton of excitement along with it and before we get into today's article, I want to highlight a few things that stuck out to me. The first thing was the improvement of Jalen Hurts as a passer. Yes, I know it was against a bad Falcons’ defense, but he can only play who is scheduled, and he looked great doing just that. The Steelers came out and made a statement beating the Bills in Week 1 with my main takeaway being do not overreact to Josh Allen struggling. The Bengals beat what I expected to be a decent Vikings team, but I have bad news for the fans of purple and gold. It is going to be a long season. Kyler Murray led the Cardinals into Nashville and beat the Titans in a bad way. Kyler for MVP this year is a real possibility after the way he just started off. In Jacksonville, things got sideways in a hurry and fast enough for me to believe Urban Meyer will only make it through this season. Meyer let Lawrence throw the ball 51 times in his rookie debut, despite being known as a coach who loves to run the ball. The last major takeaway I have is Baker Mayfield doing Baker Mayfield things. The Browns and Mayfield looked great to start but withered away in the end and watched a winnable game against the mighty Chiefs go out the window when Mayfield threw an ill-timed interception instead of throwing the ball away. I hope you all enjoyed Week 1, but it is now time to start getting your rosters ready to move on to Week 2.

It’s finally time for some regular-season NFL football in 2021. The NFL is back already with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beating the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 31-29 on a game-winning field goal with seven seconds left on the clock. The field goal was setup by the G.O.A.T. Tom Brady who drove the defending Super Bowl Champions 57 yards down the field on 11 plays in just 1:22. Sound familiar?

Now that it’s Friday, we have Sunday and 14 games to look forward to plus Monday Night Football from Las Vegas. Dynasty Owner is also back in action and bigger than ever in 2021. We have more leagues, more Bench scoring (25% this season versus 20% in 2020), and a higher salary cap of $127.75 million, which is good because a lot of players got some pretty big raises during the 2020 season or in the off-season. Thanks to all of the returning Dynasty Owners who are back to test themselves again for the 2021 season. And a hearty welcome to all new Dynasty Owners who are hopefully looking forward to how to play fantasy football Dynasty Owner style.

Hello Dynasty Owners and welcome to the first article of the new league season. If you are reading this on the day of release, we still haven’t witnessed a regular season game. That first game will happen tomorrow between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Let me give you the article schedule that I will be following this season. I am still in shock folks, but we have finally made it, we have football on the boob tube in just two nights! The NFL opens with Thursday Night Football, and it is sure to be a high scoring blowout between the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whatever the line is on Thursday’s opener take Tampa Bay. While I respect the Cowboys’ high flying offense, I cannot say the same about their horrid defensive unit that finished in the bottom third of the league in 2020. The Cowboys were not terrible when trying to stop the pass last season ranking in the middle of the pack in passing yards allowed. While all that sounds fine and dandy, their defense averaged less than two sacks a game last season and we all know what happens when you give Tom Brady a clean pocket and time to throw the ball.

Ladies and Gentlemen. This will be my last off-season article before the regular season starts back up in just six days with the Dallas Cowboys taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. While the pre-season has been fun, it is time for the real deal players and some real NFL football. I want to take a second and just kind of wrap things up from this off-season before we jump into the last of the pre-season news, as well as today’s article. In the Dynasty Owner off-season, you likely went through a ton of firsts in your fantasy career like cutting big name players you did not want to cut but could not afford to keep, trading good players away just to get something of value in return, and dealing with the restraints of a salary cap. Welcome to the small sample size of what NFL GMs face on a daily basis. The thing that stood out the most to me this off-season was when I tried to move Kenny Golladay (after his new contract) and virtually had to give him away, only getting a 2nd round pick in return. The Golladay move was a real eye opener for me in my first Dynasty Owner off-season and I am sure many of you went through similar situations. Do not worry…. or do because it gets no easier from here. Dynasty Owners who have a great cap situation right now will be faced with tough decisions tomorrow and when they are faced with those decisions, the owners in the best position will reap the rewards.

It’s late Wednesday morning as I’m finishing up this article which means that NFL rosters have been whittled down to 53 players and hundreds of players have been waived, placed on Injured Reserve or even moved to the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
