Gail is a grandmother who saw her genius dyslexic son learn to read so he could reach his potential. He earned a BS for Electrical Engineering and is now in his forties and is setting up computer programs for the factory where he works.  

First, he was homeschooled, then sent to a private Christian school, then enrolled in the Carroll School for Reading. In order for the public school to pay for his tuition, Gail had to re-enroll her son in the public school system where he attended for six weeks. 

His time in the public school failed to be productive, so he returned to the Carroll School and thrived.

Today my guest was Melissa Sommers.  Founder of Harmonic Changes Therapy Services, Melissa provides music services to children, adolescents, and adults of all ages and abilities. 
 Melissa Sommers, MM, MT-BC. Melissa holds her master’s degree in Music with a focus on Neurologic Music Therapy from Colorado State University and her bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She also has specialized training in Neurologic Music Therapy and DIR®/Floortime. Because Dr. Cintron uses music in her reading intervention, Melissa contributes a sizable amount of information about the value of using music to help teach reading.
