The myriad of emotions involved with killing of an animal are sometimes hard to put to words. You've looked forward to that moment for seasons, cherished the time spent in nature, admired him as he lives in his element, then you execute a great shot to harvest the beast. Now the woods fall empty. This great being no longer rules his environment. There is no name for this emotion. It truly is it's own feeling.
In this episode, we take some time to reflect on the events of our rut hunt. We get pretty deep into some abstract topics. Not everything we discuss will help you kill a big buck, and we're ok with that. As hunters, we need to be in a constant state of self-evaluation to ensure that our lifestyle remains relevant.
It also gets pretty hot and heavy as K.C. airs a few grievances about the tone of some hunters when refering to The Rut. Remember, count your blessings people. Do not dread the great gift of hunting.
The Rut has been a wild ride. We are so thankful that we get to enjoy more of it here in the South! Good luck to everyone out there who still holds a tag. Remember, bow, rifle, black powder, shotgun, crossbow, whatever you use, we are all outdoors for the same reasons. Love one another and encourage everyone!
Don't pass over our "BIG BUCK BREAKDOWN" podcasts! These are short-form interviews with dudes who got it done! Just the meat and potatoes version of the story of killing a mature buck.
Here is our latest BBB with Erik Barber of Wisconsin.
There is a lot of great gear out there to help make your hunts more successful. We choose to use these tools, but there are many others that would work as well. Here are a few things that helped us out during this trip:
HAWK Razor Climbing Sticks
Sitka Fanatic Hoody
Fourth Arrow Carbon Arm
Need some Rock n' Roll for your roadtrip? Fist pump with some Tyler and The Tribe!
