Earth-2.net Presents...

It's been a while since your hosts have covered a bad horror movie, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation makes up for it by being simultaneously boring and baffling. It's a movie starring Matthew McConaughey and Renee Zellweger in early roles they'd both rather forget. It's mostly about running and knockoff arena rock. And the Illuminati, we think. Also, that Leatherface person makes a cameo. Please visit http://tranquiltirades.wikia.com.

While Hannah was generally impressed with New York Comic Con 2014, Dan and Wendee were much less impressed with Boston Comic Con 2014. Please visit http://www.patreon.com/earth_2.

This week's show is a massive tip of the hat to the atypical zombie film. First things first: young adult novelist, Lynne Hansen stops by to talk about her recent career-turn as a filmmaker. From her screenplay for the zombie comedy short film He's Not Looking So Great to the trials and tribulations of directing her first short, the very atypical zombie film Chomp. Then Devil Dinosaur Jr. delivers a double feature of the atypical, and so so bad, zombie films Teenage Zombies and Superargo. Darryll joins Desmond for a look at the very impressive indie zombie feature The Battery. Then Desmond goes solo on The Dead 2. But of course, that isn't all! We have to have some zombie tunes: "Zombie Apocalypse" by Kirby Krackle, "Because I'm Awesome" by The Dollyrots, "It's Your Funeral, Minion" by The Hex Dispensers, "Anthem for the Already Defeated" by Rock Plaza Central, "The Desert is on Fire" by Murder by Death, and "Zombie" by Vestiges. What movie from the 1980s stars Iron Man, Catwoman, Otis, Jadzia Dax, Hot Lips, Paulie, Johnny, Sam Kinison, and Rodney Dangerfield? It's Back to School, a rather odd relic from a much different time. Please visit our Patreon page at http://www.patreon.com/forbetterorworse.

Ian and Dave cover the second half of Life on Mars's first season. Episode five sees Sam and Gene investigate a murder that appears to be link with football hooligans, and involves them working a memorable shift in a pub. In episode six, Sam hears his mother say that his life support is going to be turned off at two o'clock, which is also the deadline given by a gunman who has taken hostages at a local newspaper. In episode seven, Sam is determined to have a full and transparent investigation of a death-in-custody, but it seems everyone has something to hide. And, in episode eight, Sam meets his dad when Vic Tyler is arrested in connection with organized crime. How far will Sam go to keep his family together, and is Vic as innocent as he seems? Along the way Ian reveals the collective noun for a group of Wilsons, and Dave reveals why the season finale is difficult for him to watch.

Reality crashes into the Halloween season this week as Desmond interviews the filmmakers behind the brand new haunted event-themed / found-footage horror film The Houses October Built. Bobby Roe, Zack Andrews, and Michael Roe talk about making a found footage film with your friends, and the secret world behind haunted events. Then, carrying on with the theme of event-related horror, Devil Dinosaur Jr. takes a look at Tobe Hooper's most underrated gem in his filmography: The Funhouse. Then, Desmond goes solo on a review of the Rosemary's Baby meets TLC's A Baby Story mashup Delivery: The Beast Within. On top of all that, there's some suitably creepy tunes for you guys on your Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend: "October" by Gray Matter, "Haunted House" by Antiseen, "Madhouse" by Anthrax, "Life / Birth / Blood / Doom" by Black Label Society, and "Aenema" by Tool. The death of a crewman leads to Captain Kirk being put on trial ("Court Martial"), a supercomputer has total control over a town ("The Return of the Archons"), and the guys agree that the best Star Trek film ever is in fact not a Star Trek movie. Please visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/edge.
