Earth-2.net Presents...

Earth is a dangerous place, as we all know. With global warming a reality, it feels like we're on the cusp of an eco-horror movement. This week, Dread Media has a new and a classic example for you. First up, the thaw releases hybrid monsters from the Blood Glacier. Then, in a brand new Stay Scary, Talia Shire deals with a mutant bear in 1979's Prophecy. Let's tie ourselves to a tree and sing these songs: "Global Warning" by Voivod, "At the Foot of the Great Glacier" by 3 Inches of Blood, "The Wait" by Killing Joke, and "Mourning of the Earth" by ASG. After Captain Kirk fights the Gorn ("Arena"), The Enterprise is thrown backwards in time and must prevent knowledge of their presence from spreading ("Tomorrow is Yesterday"). Plus: Dan and Wendee try to out-geek the other, and there's more news on the pancake front. Please visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/edge.

Did Hannah and Will go to sleep? For a little while. Shall they watch Dollhouse? If they wish. Which of these episode's clients is better known as Totally Not Brittney? Who's creepier: Mellie or Topher? And how well does the show live up to its premise in the first few episodes? Will and Hannah begin their coverage of Dollhouse with "Ghost," "The Target," and "Stage Fright."

Join Dread Media this week. Seriously, join us. We're all about the cult this week. First, Dreadite favorite Ti West's latest film, Sacrament, takes the found-footage genre and applies it to a loosely veiled Jonestown story. Then, Devil Dinosaur Jr. looks at Kevin Smith's Branch Davidian / Westboro Baptist church mash-up Red State. Finally, black metal's rabid fans have accepted quite a lot of variation to their genre, but will they think the eponymous debut EP from the mysterious Danish one-woman black metal act Myrkur is "trve kvlt"? We'll have to see! Of course, there's tunes: "Sacrament" by HIM, "Back to Eden" by Black Sabbath, "High as Fuck" by Jon Lajoie, and "Nattens Barn" and "Ma Du Brænde i Helvede" by Myrkur. If multidisciplinary awards are the relevant criteria, then Hey, An Actor is profiling one of the greatest entertainers working today: Whoopi Goldberg. Discover why Ian has nominated Jumpin' Jack Flash under the pressure of one of his collaborators. Hear why Ghost brings Pandy to tears. And learn why The Brothers Wilson hold a special place in their hearts for Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. Not only that, but Pandy finally responds to the dreams of one host of The Edge of Forever - in jingle form.

In order to shamelessly shill their new podcast (The Cure for the Common Podcast), Kellen welcomes Tom Hemmings onto the show to review the gory, twisted, and, at times, disturbing Deadman Wonderland. To start, the duo reviews the first four episodes: "Death Row Inmate," "Antidote (Candy)," "G Block," and "Crow Claw."

Dave and Ian start covering the British version of Life on Mars. In episode one, DCI Sam Tyler is hit by a car and wakes up in 1973 where he must solve a series of murders that are connected to a case he was working on in 2006, all while butting heads with his new boss: DCI Gene Hunt. In episode two, Sam stops Gene from framing an armed robber and faces the consequences. In episode three, Sam and Gene investigate a murder in a textile mill that will one day be Sam's flat. And in episode four, Sam stands up to a local gangster who has a deal with Gene, and meets his mother as a young woman. They also trade David Bowie impersonations, Dave educates Ian on the 70s police procedure, and Ian makes a very unfortunate mispronunciation of Gene's last name.

As Captain America and The Thing fight to save humanity in the year 3014, the original Guardians of the Galaxy stop by to lend a hand (Marvel Two-in-One #5). And speaking of lending a hand, Aquaman attempts to save Gotham City by killing 200 people (The Brave and the Bold #114). Please visit http://www.patreon.com/earth_2.

Get sick this week, Dreadites, as Desmond and Darryll take a look at two goo-soaked dripping fright flicks. First up, can the hosts get past their nausea induced by the opening of the brand new existential homage to Troma, Septic Man? What about the classic gooey monster film The Incredible Melting Man? Time, and listening, will only tell. There's some nasty dripping songs for you, too: "Freak Puke" by Melvins Lite, "Sewer Chief" by Rat Path, "Melting of My Marrow" by Killer Be Killed, and "Melt" by Monster Magnet. Will and Hannah have reached episode 76, and it's getting a little horrible. The Heroes take a look at the 2008 web series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, how the writer's strike gave rise to it, how its format works for and against it, and how it's noticeably smaller cast carries the series. Is it still as shiny as when it came out? Is this possibly the darkest thing Whedon's put out? Join Will and Hannah for the sing-along to find out!
