Earth 919: A Comic Book Podcast

This week Willy and Mat are back! Man, having kids and denying you have kids (in Willy's case) is an exhaustive experience and takes up alot of your time in court...  After a few months hiatus we're back and not surprisingly a week late to discuss Logan and Smoketown #1 from Scout Comics. Give it a listen, give us a chance and give us a break, we have lives! Thanks for listening Edited By: MatPodcast Link: https://archive.org/download/Episode25LoganAndSmoketown/Episode%2025%20Logan%20and%20Smoketown.mp3

When Mat unshackled my ankles in the basement, led me outside the bunker, and whispered, "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever," the first thing I did was run. The second thing I did was scrap together enough money to buy my own mic. That's right, I'm flying solo now baby. In today's episode, I complain about why overpowered characters are boring, using Superman as my primary example, and offer instances of when a comic thrives on heroes with limited powersets as well moments where heroes with "useless" powers become incredibly interesting. So tune in! Please. If I don't get 4 listeners, Mat will find me and beat me. We recorded this episode so long ago that I forgot I did it. After decades of sub-quality work, Mat has finally provided me the file for this episode. You really can't marry out of a family after all. I blame my wife for bringing this monstrosity into my life. Personal complaints aside, today we talk about the "new" Logan trailer and some X-men villains. I have no idea what this episode is about, I'm simply uploading it for Mat because despite all the help I've given him, he still doesn't understand the internet. What can you do. I guess it's true that you can't teach an old, slightly retarded, mildly disabled, dog new tricks. If I had to wager a guess however, it might be about the sneak peek that marvel provided us of their new event Monsters Unleashed. Once again, the world safety is at stake....sigh. This week Willy continues to let us down by returning and showing his immense enthusiasm for 3 comics that neither of us really cared about. We muddy through what we can and give you the best we have. This is 1 of 3 episodes that have been held up in immigration, not really, I've been injured, sick and now I'm finally getting around to these so we apologize for the delay (Willy...). Unstoppable Wasp #1, Walking Dead #162 and Civil War 2 Finale.  Link: https://archive.org/download/21Earth919/21%20Earth%20919.mp3 Edited by: Mat Email: [email protected]: earth919comics.blogspot.com

You lucky devils...Willy is back again to talk about Rogue One and our favorite comics of 2016. Spoiler alert Willy had next to no comic books to talk about for 2016, he's a hypocrite and we've begun litigation to have him removed from the podcast, we'll keep you updated but just beware it might get ugly. Willy has alot of skeletons in his closet and bodies in various forms of decomposition so, yeah just, if you see him, run away, inform the authorities and also make sure to tell those authorities about our show, we appreciate you spreading the word.  Edited by: MatPodcast link: https://archive.org/download/StarWarsAnd2016ComicBookHighlights/Star%20Wars%20and%202016%20Comic%20Book%20Highlights.mp3Email: [email protected]: earth919comics.blogspot.com

In today's episode, we talk about the newest Spiderman Homecoming trailer as well as recommend some Spiderman titles or arcs to check out! At the end, Mat also introduces a new game where we randomly pick characters from the Marvel Handbook and discuss how the matchup turns out. Long overdue Mat once again is flying solo and dirty. Mat breaks down the various trailers released for Mummy and GoTG Vol 2 along with a coverage of Resurxxion #4 and Civil War #7. Willy will be back next week, unfortunately... Today's episode is on Dr. Strange. We discuss our thoughts on the movie, some titles that might be good for people who are interested in the character, and all our crushes and who we're taking to the high school dance. The election in America is over, after many a Xanax taken on both sides I (Mat) decided its a good time to talk about the multiple times that comic book voters put mad men, psychos and just plain ole' arrogant bastards into various positions of power over the years. Enjoy!
