Earth 919: A Comic Book Podcast

Halloween Special by Mat. In this episode, Mat shares some comic titles that he feels are relevant to Halloween that might interest you readers out there in light of the holiday. I would give you the titles that he talks about, but then that would ruin the surprise! Send us some questions about what you think of his suggestions! This week I (Mat) am alone again, and thank GOD! Dropping dead weight has never felt so good. I'm talking the newest trailers out this past weekend and breakdown the 'Old Man Logan' storyline for your gentle ears. Maybe your ears aren't gentle, maybe they're harsh. If they are, this one's not for you. You harsh ear weirdo. Another episode edited by Matt. As they say in the business, you can't keep a raccoon in a cage forever, sometimes you just have to let it out; and boy, is Matt really giving it to us with these episodes. Today we talk about Marvel's Spiderman Clone Conspiracy #1 and Image's Reborn #1. Matt has me by gunpoint to record another episode. I hate you Matt. Today we talk about Batman Beyond issue #16 and Death of X issue #1. Matt recently watched a documentary on the rise and fall of 90's boy band N'Sync and boy did he get ideas when he saw how successful Justin Timberlake became after going solo. So, in an effort to not stifle his creative freedom, here is a solo episode by Matt on the topic of Luke Cage. For many, Luke Cage is merely another face in the Marvel Universe. But for Matt, Cage is an obsession. At the young age of 18, when asked what he wanted to do for work, Matt responded immediately that he wanted to be a middle age black man with indestructible skin. Thus, today's episode. Joking aside, you may see more solo episodes in the future because I am just so inundated by work. Today's episode was edited solely by Matt, and that's why its so long. Because everything is precious and nothing could be cut out, right Matt? Ugh, millennials. Amiright guise? Anyways, today we talk about three comics:  East of West, X-O- Manowar, and Jupiter's Legacy. Today's episode is on Ed Brubaker's new series Kill or Be Killed. I didn't like it, Matt liked it; but then again, Matt also liked the "horror" movie VHS, so take that how you will. Recording has been sporadic because of new commitments on my part so hang in there buddy! It's been a long time since we've updated and I take all the blame. Matt has been more than enthusiastic about record more episodes, even borderline violent, but I've simply been inundated with school work. I just returned back to school and things have been hectic, and that plays into the frequency of our recordings. That said, Matt, you still shouldn't have slashed my tires and ruined my marriage; I got your point clearly the first time, everything after was excessive. Now my wife is halfway across the globe with my dog and my PS2. Why Matt, why. Anyhoo, today we take on a new format, as per Matt's wishes. I visit him in Seattle while we go through comic news, comic discussion, and a classic versus scenario. How new is this format? Well, according to Matt: entirely new. So sit back and enjoy. Sorry for the delay, but we had a crisis on our hands at the studio. Turns out, Matt recently discovered the mobile game Candy Crush and ended up maxing out all his credit cards making in-game purchases. He then mortgaged his house and took out a small bank loan to continue his addiction. Before he knew it, he owed some very bad men a huge amount of money. Long story short, Matt is no longer with us. In his place is however, is his twin brother Matthew from Texas, whom we will call Mat to make things simpler. That said, in today's episode, we discuss our favorite JLA storylines, followed by our favorite villains. I hate all of Mat's picks and that should be enough reason for you to listen to this episode. After weeks of begging and other unmentionable, humiliating, even for his standards, weeping, Matt finally gets his chance to edit an episode. So if anything happens to the world between June 20th, 2016 and this podcast's upload date, it's Matt's fault. This is what happens when you try Matt, people suffer. Anyways, before I get too off topic; today's episode covers alternate universes. Whether that universe be a dystopia or a re-imagining with a happy end, anything goes as long as it's not the more established and historied universe for that particular comic line. Some picks include Old Man Logan and Y-the last man (Even though I don't think that counts as an alternative universe, Matt). So check it out.
