Liquid drum & bass, to me, is not really a genre, it's more a style. Within the broad spectrum of drum & bass, the style of liquid can transcend many sub genres. Liquid is more than just uplifting chords and vocals. In this episode of Elements we explore the darker side of liquid. Taking form through the sounds of jungle, halftime, and atmospheric rollers, these are not the sounds you normally associate with liquid, but the tracks in this mix all retain the fundamental basis of liquid, and that is melody.

This month we bring you a guest mix from established Sydney DJ/Promoter Just Greg.

Hailing from Hungary, Greg began his career in 2001, pushing the jazzy liquid vibes around Europe.

Moving to Australia around 2013, and quickly made his mark on the local dnb scene, as a dj and promoter. "Through the years I met so many great people who helped and encouraged me to start promoting here and bring artists to Sydney like Commix, Philth & Marcus Intalex (RIP)."

His mix for this episode of elements is a eclectic symphony of beats ranging from liquid, jungle, halftime, breakbeats, soul and prog rock!

"Although liquid is my all-time favourite sub genre of drum and bass I often listen to jungle, halftime and other genres like ambient, jazz, dub and dub techno. This mix literally took a year to make it. It starts with an American ambient rock band, Hammock's track while the last track is from The Doors. Between these two I tried to create a journey from liquid through jungle till halftime."

Back this month with another special guest mix, this time from UK born Sydney based DJ vonAudio.

vonAudio began his DJ career i 2002, in various UK clubs, before relocating to Australia. Now a firm fixture in Sydney he has held many residencies such as Ruby Rabbit, Ladylux, Hugo's Lounge, Bungalow 8 & Cargo Bar to name a few.

His musical tastes span from Funk & Soul to Golden Era Hip Hop & R'n'B, to Nu-Disco, House and Drum 'n' Bass. Known for being able to play sets which contain most of the above.

His talents have seen him play support for the likes of Sir Norman Jay, Slipmatt, Nu:Tone and even Wu-Tang Clan.
