EarzUp!

Terrence and Jason have both been dying to be selected for the Disney Moms Panel for years now, and neither of them have made it. Well, today we chat with Lindsey who has just come off of her stint as an official Disney Mom! She tells us what not to do, what being a Disney Mom actually entails, and all the cool stuff you get for being selected. Oh yeah, and the friends you make.  We also do some Disney News, and that's it.

What was originally meant to be a 3-part series is now on it's 4th installment, as Taren takes us back in time to the 1990's! Disney made a large number of moves during this time, some good and some not-so-good. Plus we have Disney News, and Bev is back in the studio!

Today's show is all about the past. Which, we suppose, is not that rare for a show about Disneyland, but at least it's dealing with the recent past: 2017! Terrence, Taren, Jason, and our special guest Jeremy weigh in on the biggest events of 2017 for Disney, and what we hope to see in the new year.

Today's show is a departure of sorts for what we normally talk about on EarzUp, but it is interesting nonetheless. A few shows back we read an article from past guest David Koenig on a social club that was being sued, along with the Disney company, for allegations of extortion and threatening behavior. We all thought it was an interesting story and one that we should try to explore a bit further. David's article, while well-written, was understandably one-sided since the only information he had to go on was the court documents filed by the plaintiff. Being the intrepid pseudo-journalists we are, Terrence reached out to Jake Fite, one of the many defendants in the court case, to see if he would come on and give his side of the story. It's a complex one with many layers, and might not be suitable (or interesting, as it's rather long and detailed and has nothing to do with Disneyland history) for those younger kids in the audience.

Not many things about Disneyland have made us cry out in pain nearly as much as the removal of our beloved Captain EO. Sure, it's not perfect, but what is? Today, among other things, Terrence takes us through ...

The History of Captain EO

But first ...

Jason finally completes the long overdue Animated Classics review of Fun and Fancy Free, and nobody can believe it. We announce a new show coming out on our channel called "Sabers and Superpowers", which is hosted by Anthony (AKA Kanye) and is all about the Marvel and Star Wars Universes. After that ... Feedback, Taren's Thinks, and a great segment with Jeremy from SpectroRadio!

Then, Terrence goes into the history of Captain EO. Which isn't super long, but informative nonetheless. Bev drops some background on another Main Street Window, we do some Disney News, a Fact of the Show, and we gone.

Well, we did it - 100 episodes of EarzUp! Podcast ... 4 years of our little show and countless new friends later, and we found ourselves on the balcony of Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney, literally flanked by listeners and fellow Disney Nerds. And 1/4 of Terrence's family.

This was an incredible show to be a part of, and we cannot thank our listeners and fans enough for not only allowing us to get this far, but for coming out and hanging with us. Jason waxed poetic about it over on this blog post, so if you want more of that, he's your man.

In short, thank you for supporting us for these 100 episodes, and I promise we have some cool stuff coming down the pipeline for you!

Our favorite time of the year is right around the corner ... Halloween! Today we talk to SpectroRadio about the cool things that happen over at Walt Disney World, and then Terrence hits us with the history of one of the more bizarre features of Disneyland's Halloween deco ... the Halloween Tree.  So let's get spoopy and learn about ...

The Sights and Sounds of Disney Halloween

But first ...

We open the show goofing off like normal. Before Feedback, Jason gives a rundown of our latest issue with social media, and how we messed up. Feedback happened, and then we get Jeremy from SpectroRadio on to talk about the music of Mickey's Halloween Party, and Terrence tells us more about the famed Halloween Tree in Disneyland.

Then we do a bit of Disney News, and then the Fact of the Show.

The Halloween Tree in Disneyland

We've talked about the Haunted Mansion before, that ride is so great it has layers of stories hidden away. Today, we dive into one of those layers, by bringing you ...

The History of the Haunted Mansion Stretching Portraits

But first ...

Our show starts with the normal B.S., and we announce some of the coming price changes to our Patreon page. It's still in the planning stages, but we hope these changes will bring more folks to our little show. Then we do some Feedback, and bring up Jeremy from SpectroRadio to tell us about the music of the Enchanted Tiki Room - the good and the bad.

Then it's Taren's turn to tell us about the history of the Haunted Mansion Stretching Portraits. Their past is fractured a bit, but makes for a good show, nonetheless.

After that it's the Fact of the Show, and we gone.

While the odds are very, very low, it's possible that something bad will happen at a Disney Park near you - maybe even while you are visiting.  Our friend Miles was at Walt Disney World during Hurricane Irma, so today we are talking to him to find out ...

How Disney Prepares for Disasters

But first ...

The show got off to an odd start, as our cats decided to have a full-on fight in the other room. We cut most of the pause out of the actual show, but the long version is on the video below if you want to watch an empty studio for some reason. If you listen closely you can hear both cat howls!

Then we get Miles on the line. Miles, you might remember, was on our Modeling Disney show awhile back, and just happened to be in Walt Disney World when Hurricane Irma hit. We followed his progress at the resort via his Facebook updates, and after he made it back safely, we wanted to know just how Disney prepared for something like a Cat 5 hurricane.

Afterwards, Terrence puts together a little information on how Disneyland would handle an emergency. Obviously we don't get hurricanes out here, but we do have earthquakes!

Fact of the Show, and we are done.

Something we never thought we'd do: pay a company for the privilege of running. However, this was no ordinary run, it was a Disney run, and that's way better than your average race weekend! Join us, as we tell you all about how ...

We Ran With runDisney!

But first ...

We start off talking about trademark issues again, and the only original Churro Castle shirt out there despite what you see on the internet. Then we explainTerrence's new food hack involving the funnel cake at the Stage Door Cafe in Disneyland and his MaxPass review.

runDisney - it was a thing we did, and overall we had a great time doing it! Even if you aren't an accomplished runner ( you know, if you are us), you'll have fun and you won't kill yourself huffing and puffing.

Disney News, then the Fact of the Show, and we are gone.
