  • The History of the Walt Disney Company: Part 1
Most fans of Disneyland know a little bit about Walt and the company he built, but for the most part we just sort of pick up his history after the construction of Disneyland.  In today's show, we take you through  ...
The History of the Walt Disney Company: Part 1
    But first ...

Jason had a very special gift for those of you listening live over on Livestream, as he forgot the cameras were rolling and made some terribly rude gestures.   Thankfully they were edited out of the video, but if you like seeing sort of "outtakes" like that, watching live is the way to go, I guess.

Terrence and Bev's kids have some history, and they are only 5 and 4 years old, respectfully.

Jason reflects on age and how his timeline is out of whack, and we go over even more ramblings about life, the lottery, and earthquakes.

We do some Main Street Fanny Packers talk and give an update on our logo production and some possible methods of joining.

Then we get down to business!  Taren has done a ton of research on The Walt Disney Company and broke everything down into three parts.  Today we talk about part one, which is how Walt went from ambulance driver to Academy Award Winner.

After that there is some Disney News, and then we end the show ... or do we?  After the outro music Terrence and Jason stick around to talk a bit about the new Star Wars film, so if you haven't seen it, be sure to stop listening when you hear the outro music!

    See you in the parks!

  • The EarzUp Christmas Show
We never really thought about doing a Christmas show.  There are plenty of podcasts that do them, and we don't get to the parks during the holidays enough to have a solid report or opinion.  But then our friend Jeremy at SpectroRadio suggested we give it a shot and so we did.  Here now, is the first ever ...
    EarzUp Christmas Show
    But first ...

It's very clear that this is our second - and last - early morning show.  Between the weird laugh that Jason has, to the long rambling conversations about donuts, this show has a hard time getting going ... but it does.  Eventually.

We explore the complex world of the EarzUp podcast podcast, if it were to ever happen.  Then after a few more random rants, Taren takes us through the history of the NBC overlay on the  Haunted Mansion.

After, we presented ourselves with a challenge - to craft a Christmas overlay for an existing ride.  Not that we need more overlays in Disneyland, but it was a fun exercise.

Then we speak with Mickey Clause to give him our Christmas lists, Terrence/Conrad/Steve tells us about another window on Main Street, Jason hits the Fact of the Show, and we are out!

  • Character Dining at Disneyland
Disneyland has loads of dining options - some good, some not.  But what about when it comes to their character dining options?  Terrence and Bev give us the rundown on everything you need to take on ...
    Character Dining at Disneyland
    But first ...

We recorded this show early on a Saturday, and it shows.  Jason's voice is scruffy and we are all a bit overly chatty in the beginning.  We also had some issues with Terrence's mic, which is why he sounds like he's 8 miles away.  It was an odd morning, for sure.

Terrence talks about how dramatic his kid Tommy is, then we jump into a bit of Feedback before the insightful social commentary that is "Taren's Thinks".

Then we jump into Character Dining at Disneyland with Terrence and sort of Bev.  We get the full rundown of all options available draw upon their experiences to determine if  the high-cost is worth it.

We continue with our Main Street Window rundown with Taren, Disney News is next, then the Fact of the Show, and that's it!

  • History of Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye
People ask us all the time what our favorite ride is.  In fact, we did a top 5 list awhile ago, and each of us listed the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland as one of our favorites.  All the more reason Terrence decided to track down the details of how this ride came to be in the parks, and all the crazy stuff that happens inside it.  Get ready for the ...
History of Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye
    But first ...

Taren called Terrence out for admitting that he does in fact get compliments sent to him.  This comes on the heels of the last show where he complained about not receiving any.  Needless to say, his pants are totally on fire right now.

We read some feedback, and talk about how not only one but two listeners we met up with got engaged while we were there!  Pretty amazing!

Taren's Thinks strikes again, and Taren somehow lumps Jennifer Aniston in with President Obama.  It's ... she's crazy, ok?

It's time for Terrence to shine as he takes us through the history of Indiana Jones, specifically the ride in Disneyland from conception to opening and beyond.  Then we get to some Disney News, the Fact of the Show, and that's it!

    See you in the parks!

  • Disney Auctions at the Van Eaton Gallery
Disney is a place that is always changing.  Posters get replaced, ride cars get re-designed, costumes get updated.  But the old stuff has to go someplace, right?  We get to learn where and how these relics of Disney's past get into the hands of regular people like us, for today, we talk all about ...
Disney Auctions at the Van Eaton Gallery
    But first ...

Bev thinks Disney has too much money because she has seen people throw paper money into the water.

We get this show moving pretty quickly and shift our normal business to the end of the show, because we want to get to Mike Van Eaton, who runs Van Eaton galleries.  Mike puts on what is considered the best Disney auction, and he has items in his collection that will blow you away.

Chatting with Mike about some of these pieces was really fun, because you can hear his passion for the parks and the history these pieces represent.  We also get into what we should be looking for in today's Disney collectible market and what will increase in value.

After Mike, we head back to the beginning of the show and do some feedback.  Jason responds to a previous listener Cliff who commented on our last show about how Jason and Taren bashed Walt Disney World (which wasn't the case but whatever).

Taren's Thinks for this show is pretty good if you are in to diet gum.  Oddly enough, Terrence agrees with her.

Bev jumps in to her window presentation on Roger Broggie, who was in charge of the train system in Disneyland, among other things.  Then we fire off a gassy Fact of the Show, and that's it!

  • EarzUp Goes to Walt Disney World
Being as Disneyland-centric as we are, it's hard to know what other Disney fans are talking about when they reference things like "Horizons", or "Spaceship Earth".  Now that Jason and Taren have returned from their trip to Florida to explore the OTHER Disney Park, we can now fit in with the cool kids as ...
EarzUp Goes to Walt Disney World
    But first ...

Angry Bekah is in studio as Jason explains how Taren likes to save power by leaving the lights on. Taren get real obvious during feedback, then hits us with another Tarens Thinks.

Then we get to the heart of the matter, which is to review our trip to Universal Orlando to hang with Harry Potter, and Walt Disney World.  Warning: this is a pretty long show, filled with many ramblings, but we think it will provide you with a good idea of what to expect when traveling to Walt Disney World for the first time.

We do a fast run through Disney News, then hit the Fact of the Show, and we are done!

Welcome to Florida, where it's ... real hot.

  • The EarzUp 50th Show Celebration
Who's to say what the future holds for us?  We sure don't, which is why we are taking a moment to thank our friends and listeners for making EarzUp what it is today, and helping us get to our 50th show! So sit back, relax, and enjoy ...
    The EarzUp 50th Show Celebration!
    But first ...

Our 50th show gets another weird intro from Jason.  Terrence reveals his thoughts on our very first show, which is unusual considering he is normally a very positive person.

We run through some Feedback before getting to our thoughts on the first show and how it was supposed to only be 15 minutes long, something we never even came close to hitting!

There were a few special appearances by Baby Frankie, Terrence's latest child, and Angry Bekah.

Our small awards show got underway, finally, with us talking about why we became Disney podcasters, and why we continue to create these shows.

We had two sets of awards - ones that the cast voted on and then ones that the audience voted on, after filling out a form we sent around online.   Jason kept these answers hidden from the rest of the cast, so the winners of the fan favorite awards were a real surprise!

Next, we run through some of our old Top 5 rides and see if we feel the same way we did after two years of Disney radio

After the Fact of the Show, and a heartfelt "thank you", we are out!

See you in the parks, and here's to 50 more episodes of EarzUp!

  • Modeling Disney
Most of us daydream about working for Disney, right?  To be plucked from relative job obscurity and asked to perform our own brand of magic for the place we all love - how cool would that be?  Well, we speak with Miles, who had this very thing happen to him, all based on his hobby of ...
    Modeling Disney
    But first ...

Anthony joins us in studio, and we make him pay for it by giving him a new nickname … Kanye. If you know him on social media, you’d know why.

We spin conjecture about how much Stan Lee is worth, and how newsworthy Epic Rap Battles is.  Terrence announces his plans for a churro house when he strikes it rich, despite the overwhelming conclusion that he would just end up eating it and be homeless.

This week saw some cool listener feedback, and Taren breaks the studio up with what could possibly be her best Taren's Thinks segment so far.

Then it's time to get our guest on the phone, Miles. He does 3-D computer modeling as a hobby, and has been working on a 3-D model of Disneyland just for fun. He started putting his work on Facebook to not only spread his love of modeling Disney, but also to  get some crowd-sourced images to help with his project.  Somehow, someone from Disney found him and asked for his help with the 60th anniversary overlay! It’s a really cool story, and Miles takes us through how this whole thing happened and tells us some cool details about his two nights working at the top of the Disneyland castle!

Jason drops a "Supernatural" joke that falls flat. Of course.  Clearly nobody else watches that show.

We say “good-bye” to Miles and turn to Beverly for her very first solo segment, continuing our rundown of the dedicated windows on Main Street with a segment highlighting Harriet Burns. This lady did a lot in the Disney universe, and Bev does a great job at bringing Harriet’s accomplishments to life.

Then we cover some important Disney news, and it’s off to the Fact of the Show, which we did as a blog post here (so if you want a more detailed explanation of it that the one Jason gave on the show, you can check that out), so check that out after the show and see what we are talking about.

    See you in the Parks!

The Harriet Burns window, located above Carriage Place Clothiers in the Main Street Emporium. The plants block the name, but trust us, it's there.

(FYI: there were a couple of "S-bombs" dropped in this episode that were edited out of the podcast.  So if you don't mind hearing a couple s-words, the video is for you.  If you want a "cleaner" version, please download the podcast)

  • Cleaning the Kingdom
Disneyland is known for many things, mainly it's cleanliness.  Today we had the opportunity to speak with two former Disneyland Custodial cast members about their new book ...
    Cleaning the Kingdom
    But first ...

Jason has yet another rough intro, but we are sure you are used to it by now.  Maybe.

After some technical issues which Jason finally overcomes, we get our guests on the show - Lynn and Ken who authored a book called "Cleaning the Kingdom". It's a really interesting look behind-the-scenes at what it takes to keep our favorite place sparkling.

We talk about restroom theming, finding  trash in odd places, building the custodial department, favorite places to work in the park, and even some gross stories - tons of great info, and we can't recommend their book enough!

Then our friends Matt and Leanne unexpectedly stopped by the studio to talk a bit about their recent trip to Disneyland.

We read some feedback about our upcoming trip to Walt Disney World, which was a great recommendation to a restaurant that ... is already booked.  Oh well.

A ripping segment of "Taren's Thinks", then the Fact of the Show, and we are gone.

    See you in the parks!

  • The Elias Disney Window, and The Disney Audio Game …
... or something.  This show had a lot going on in it, and we never really had one solid topic, but we did have some cool people show up to watch us work!  That being said, let's get into ...
The Elias Disney Window, and The Disney Audio Game
    But first ...

We start off the show talking about the wasteland that is Google plus.  Terrence puts together a game for us, complete with live guests, and the computers hated it!  So we had to bail out early, but not before declaring a winner.

Dan from MouseBrew happened to be in the Bay Area, and he stopped by to hang out with us!  Our Feedback segment is on our WDW planning, including some rad info on the Food and Wine Fest, then we get into the story behind the Elias Disney window on Main Street, thanks to Terrence.

A little Fact of the Show, and we are out!

    See you in the parks!

The window on Main Street dedicated to Walt's Father.
