EarzUp!

The folks over on Scraping the Vault reached out to us, saying they had the perfect idea for a show. Ignoring that email for several weeks, we eventually learned about one of the most magical television specials to ever run ... Ernest Goes To Splash Mountain. It only ever aired once, in August of 1989, and was never seen again, only to be kept alive on YouTube, like any good piece of cultural ... culture. So, Jimmy, Dan, and Audrey from Scraping the Vault came on to walk us through this little-known Ernest content, and to shed some light on the very first person EVER to ride Splash Mountain.

The largest expansion of the Disneyland Resort ever has recently been approved by the city of Anaheim, leaving the door open for Disney to bring something really special to the parks. With no real public roadmap, we started to wonder what the Disneyland Forward project would look like if it were up to us. On today's show, we sit down and discuss what our ideas would be if we were in charge. Plus, we tackle a bit of Disney News.

Being a member of the band at any of the Disney Parks is no joke. You have to know how to read music, play multiple instruments, and be willing to march multiple times a day in any kind of weather. But to lead that band takes something else altogether. Stan Freese is a man who has done just that, in two different Disney Parks. We were lucky enough to have him on the show this week to talk to us about his book, "Music, Mayhem, and the Mouse: My "Tubazar" Life". In it, he details his start in music and how that led him to play in front of crowds from Russia to Walt Disney World and beyond. Stan's book is a must-read for anyone who likes park history, redemption stories - a fair amount of humbling experiences - all blended with a healthy dose of positivity.

Basically, we've adopted Stan.

In August of 1941, Walt and a team of composers, animators, storytellers, and directors, went on a research trip to South America on behalf ot the US Government. The goal was to gather enough materials to fill out a couple of projects, with a fair amount of goodwill thrown around, too. What Walt got out of the trip was not one but two great films, a series of weird shorts, and an education for his artists that would change the way the studio made films moving forward.

The ongoing series of special events at the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland After Dark, has been a success not only for the company, but for those guests who decided to brave the potential crowds in order to have the run of Disneyland. Tonight, we chat with two people who attended the recent "Disney Channel Nite" event to learn what it was that drew them there in the first place, what happens at these things, and if it was all worth it. Plus, we learn more about that funny little lamp, Luxo Junior, and we do some Disney News.

The Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio is, of course, a very easy name to remember - and even easier to say! On today's show, Erik takes us through the transformations the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill (& Patio) has been through recently, going from eclectic Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen - full of vibes and personality - to something about a coastal thing. Also, the nearest beach is 30 min away.

Plus, we cover some cool Disney News!

It's been awhile, and somehow the Disney News overlords have smiled upon us, giving our lowly hosts something to talk about. We have some big Parks news, some small Parks news, and some other stuff that you'll be sure to care about. Probably.

After almost 100 episodes of the premiere Disney News podcast that airs on this network, this episode is Jeremy's last. He'll be leaving to focus more on his crocheting addiction, taking his midnight strolls through the Wal-Mart parking lot, and really dialling in his petit four recipies. But before he can saunter off into that Spaceship Earth queue forever, he has some news to deliver! We talk about Disney World price increases, Promises for the Disney Board that have been "delivered", and more!
